Though it appears I might've lost my save file... Don't even know where the "restore from cloud saves" option is!

Yeah, was not expecting that they'd ever appear in official media again, though I guess the MLP Gameloft game still has an active playerbase. I pretty much came back to playing it thanks to this update. Either way, seeing them get more attention is always nice!
I'm pretty much just progressing through a new run of the game now though. Not sure what happened to my old save, but, wasn't playing it as much in the first place.

Well, I got the old I used to own from back in 2014, back when I first became a Brony.
I am so desperate right now for some kind of recovery media for the computer, since I tried a fresh install of Windows 8.1 with it, but the drivers from the HP website didn't install despite apparently matching my computer. Currently has no OS while I try to look for an ISO or something.

I cannot believe that, of all the previous laptops I owned, I seriously want the old HP lap/tab convertible... with Windows 8 installed.
To be fair, I kinda want all of them provided I can remember the brand and model number of them, but, still...

Finally managed to upgrade my main PC to Windows 11. Turns out I had to download the upgrade assistant from Microsoft's website...
...So far, Windows 11 feels pretty meh, and I already managed to break it.

My laptop that I use to run dedicated game servers on came with W11 and I already dislike it. Constantly some random background tasks, that bump CPU usage by 30-40% -- some office updaters that do whatever they want as they please, some widgets doing something (?) and the like - all the stuff I never ever run, nor plan to use. I check the system tray - nothing there, yet there's tons of stuff I didn't ask for happening in the background. I'm slowly hunting these tasks, disabling/blocking them one by one.
Seems like this system wasn't designed for performance (I know, I know, it's nothing new as far as Windows goes, it's not Linux), it's free real estate going on there. Apparently all microsoft is expecting you to do on W11 is to play games in Excel and write reviews in Word. Want to play games? Wait look at this epic office update you definitely want to have installed ASAP regardless of what you're currently doing. Widgets you don't even see occasionally eating lots of CPU for no reason? What a cool feature! Really, it strongly focuses on business aspects and openly states so right from the start when you configure your system on its first boot.
I put the server on and close the lid - I don't want any random tasks going on, I just want it to focus on the server, but microsoft go brrrr. Hopefully it calms down with time...
There are some cool niche features and improvements compared to W10, but many more downgrades, horrible design choices and more unwanted stuff installed on it. W11 generally feels more unstable.
Anyway, I prefer W10 and I'll stick to it on my main machine.

My first thought using the system yesterday, with all the bloat and opt-out/hidden telemetry stuff. In fact that's kind of how I caused the breakage as apparently I needed the Microsoft Store to run Canvas, an infinite canvas app I plan on using in the early stages of ideas I have for animations and fanart. Haven't found an open source alternative of that app that fits my specific use case unfortunately. Managed to get that 'fixed', but I do not like how store apps are not independent from the store itself.
Unrelated but I don't think I'll ever get used to the new Start menu.

Wasn't even aware of the "improved" print screen. Tried it now and it feels like they tried to copy ShareX without thinking about what made that program work so well. Not sure I'll ever need the new Window snapping. Didn't mind the original snap in Windows 7, but this extended version of it feels like it should be optional.

I still have yet to try modern MacOS (though I think I've got the money for a Macbook now, just lacking a use case that can't be met with just a Windows/Linux combo) and I still don't blame you. For any faults it may have, at least it has to feel like a premium product since its from Apple.

Yeah. I remember when I was hyped for Windows 11 back when that leaked beta came out. Granted, much of that hype was superficial as I seemed to only care about the new. frosted glass, possibly copying KDE and MacOS a bit theme. Then stuff like the TPM requirement and Microsoft's usual shenanigans happened.
And yeah, actually using the system, I have noticed its a little bit less stable than 10 was in some areas. Some programs take longer to load, there is a noticeable lag at times, and if you turn the File Explorer shortcut on and try to launch it in Start, it will throw an error saying the application isn't found. Does not happen when launching the explorer from your documents, downloads or home folder though. :/
I hoped for Windows 7 2.0 and instead, Windows 11 feels like the worst aspects of 10 have been doubled down on.

I need to get back to learning how to draw hands... I kinda partially figured it out after many attempts, just haven't drawn the palm, or various hand poses.

So I have been watching an episode a day of MLP: FiM since mid-to-late last year... The final episode STILL manages to make me cry a little.

Yeah, just like everyone else in the world, I kinda ended up majorly drifting to the few major sites - YouTube, Twitter, Reddit, Discord, etc... and as much as I hate to say it now, forgot about the rest of the internet, especially in the period between FiM and G5.
For me anyway, it seems that drift peaked in 2022 and I'm starting to go on more regular walks these days, getting back into drawing, as well as revisiting communities like this. Adult me clearly wants to be doing more actual hobbies rather than just doomscrolling all day it seems.
I do find it interesting to hear the forums getting more active now, I wonder if its for similar reasons to what I just mentioned...
I'm admittedly still more into G4, but do hope that I can enjoy G5 more as the series goes, since I do want to like the series more than I currently do.
Anyway, it is really late here and I need to go to bed, but it has been nice to meet you again! Goodnight!

I've never been a fan of social media myself, except for forums. They have more of a sense of community for me (especially this one!).
I hope the rest of G5 is more to your liking!
I've pretty much had the reverse experience to a lot of other MLP fans with it. ANG was a bit underwhelming for me (maybe the high expectations after G4 played a part – I've later learned to treat it more as its own thing), MYM and especially Misty got me interested again.

Finally bought the plush I talked about around the start of the year, now to wait for it to be made and shipped.

I am seriously considering getting a plush made of my OC. Found someone from the Netherlands on Instagram who makes them for a reasonable (at least, reasonable considering the fact that this is a hand made, custom plush toy) price, AND still pretty affordable given what the exchange rate between the EU and Aus is like right now. Been wanting to get a custom plush of my OC made sine 2017, and, well, 2020 and I still want it!

For some reason, all the apps that regularly start up with my computer aren't loading when I log in at the moment... annoying.

I know the different language versions have the results in a different order and such, but Google is usually in English for me anyway so it's not because of that.
