  1. I hate when...

Main character is, for lack of better words, a "pussy" and yet has all the girls (harem genre)

Main character is a princess who wants to marry for love

"Fantasy" stories take place in 17th century England

Main character is portrayed as objectively good

Main character is portrayed as objectively bad

The shy girl gets with the confident main character even when they spent no time together and the relationship with the actual strong female character was good

Female characters serve no purpose other than being a pair of breasts to distract the viewer

Female characters express their sexuality unrealistically

Side characters are used solely as comic relief

The plot turns into something like Naruto - dozens of characters scrapped for a Naruto-Sasuke canon fanship

    Deus ex machinas occur

Main character's hardships are made to be so much worse than everyone else's just because they are the main character

Main character do immoral things and never getting criticism from anyone else who is "good"

    Pacifist characters have no development

  2. I'm not sure I can be convinced unless my voice was examined in a more scientific manner in order to confirm the theory. It would of course require multiple tests to rule out variables which might affect my voice at any moment.

Listen to someone speaking Italian and repeat what they say in your normal voice when they're done while recording

    Listen to the recording

    You'll hear it

    (possibly)

  3. People from other countries aren't going to bother to know the difference between an indianian and a wyomingese unless you bother to learn the identities of India. Everyone knows American = from USA because it's been spread like this for so long. American can also mean people from the continent, and the context of that is usually pretty clear.. What else would you say anyway? United Statesian? That sounds dumb. Mexico's official name is the United Mexican States, and no one calls them the United Mexican Statesians, they just say Mexican. Even though they have states just like the US.

Feeling pride in your state is great, but to anyone outside, it doesn't really mean much in the way of what to call you. You're still an American. Just one who likes where they live in comparison to a place they don't.

  4. I use pony avatars wherever I want to and I don't care what anyone thinks about it. Whenever anyone wants to start something I shut it down by simply pointing out my reserved, peaceful existence and their whining which made it an issue. I don't think it should really matter. People have done the same thing with other things the Internet likes. Why not ponies?

  5. Well they do have winter at some points in the year. And the area around the Crystal Empire seems particularly frigid.

that's quite true. If I had to guess though I'd say the lower part would be the equivalent of the midwest of the US if the Crystal Empire was like the top of Canada. But even not, we don't know the scale of the world here, it may stretch down quite close to the equator for all we know (unless there's a map I'm not aware of)

  6. How long will this endure as an excuse to exclude, though?  Are HETERO relationships handled subtly in children's programming?  Cadance and Shining Armor Hot Dogs was shoe-horned into the series out of absolutely nowhere.  The first homosexual relationship in a children's program is gonna be noticed, no matter HOW it's handled.  There are people who will still flip out at the relatively subtle scenario you proposed, and there are people who will cry "shoe-horning" ANYWAY.  Can't someone just pop the damned cork already?  Can Steven Magnet just have a boyfriend, please?  Can we just take an already blatant homosexual stereotype and let him have a sea serpent beau?  I know he has one, off-screen.

It's not an excuse to exclude, and you're right that a homosexual relationship shouldn't be more "adult". But there are a lot of problems in the way the relationships have been presented that will turn people off to changing their minds anyway. I really don't want to see anyone kiss on TV unless it's for a good reason, if it's two men doing that it's going to naturally turn more people off because of the conditioning they have to associate what they see now with porn or what have you. Right thing? No. But that's how it is and you should work around that. You won't change people's minds by turning them off by just throwing these things in to make them like it. I know people can do the same thing with a heterosexual relationship and no one thinks of it like this but one is stigmatised, and the other isn't, and so the degree of exposure brings about different feelings on the intent.

I mean this isn't the only time I've disagreed with people who I otherwise share a goal with. I support freeing the nipple but not #FreeTheNipple because going to town squares, ripping off your top, and demanding national coverage will just attract perverts, creeps, and make it a spectacle, just making the entire case worse for everyone.

  7. It won't happen though I wish it would. I think the important thing here is a blatant and shoe-horned homosexual relationship vs a natural one. For example, it's very natural in some shows the way a man will say at a christmas episode about bringing his boyfriend over for dinner, and I think that's a good way, because it doesn't abnormalise it trying to normalise it and draw attention to it, but just slips it in as a regular event instead.

Which would be opposed to what some shippers want, which is some tongue action and practically putting up a neon sign that says LESBIANS HERE!
