  1. Order if I'm going for a science victory or domination victory, freedom if I'm going for a culture victory. Autocracy is situationally decent for domination, as the Prora and gunboat diplomacy tenet make it easier to maintain happiness and third alternative gives you plenty of strategic resources, but Iron Curtain is simply too strong in most situations, and Order gives you better bonuses to science which is infinitely more useful in domination than culture.
  2. It's not a matter of "having a problem" with using female as a noun, there's nothing wrong with using female as a noun in and of itself, there's just usually something wrong with people who DO use female as a noun. In my experience they're typically pretty sexist.
  3. TIL cis men are actually female, very enlightening take.
  4. Also moderately annoying how editing posts occasionally seems to just create an entirely new post instead.
  5. I'm moderately upset this old thread got resurrected and my dumbass take from 5 years ago got responded to. If any of you guys find some dumb shit I posted years ago please don't dig it back up.
  6. Steven Universe. I haven't seen Gravity Falls at all but between SU and MLP, definitely SU.
  7. Was mostly multiplayer back when TF2 and MW2 were still fairly active, nowadays it's single player almost exclusively.
  8. Honestly, no. Watch it if you have a few hours to kill and are curious, but otherwise, give it a miss. It's painfully predictable and painfully Disney.
  9. Berdly, obviously I wanna play video games with him
  10. If you ever get 30 minutes to spare I recommend checking out this video. It's a pretty interesting and educational look in to the history of autotune and pitch correction in the music industry, if you care for a little extra insight on that topic.
  11. I genuinely have no clue why the stock answer to the question "what music genres do you dislike" is "rap", even worse is when the given reason is something along the lines of "too much swearing and drugs and sex and violence". That kind of answer bothers me for 3 main reasons: 1. It's a gross overgeneralization of a genre as massive and diverse as rap is, and honestly kinda screams "I don't know what rap is like" 2. Drugs, sex, and violence are all perfectly valid subject material to include in any music and it very frequently IS included in pop and rock music especially, some of the best songs ever written have included those as subject material. 3. I know a lot of people are gonna groan at this but it needs to be said that there is definitely an element of racism to the way rap as a genre tends to be written off or criticized. It's not subtle either. I feel I should clarify I'm not calling anyone out specifically here since the most popular answer in this topic seems to be rap, just my two cents on the matter. It's perfectly valid to not enjoy rap as a genre of music but painting the entire genre in broad strokes like that raises a lot of red flags.
  12. I feel I should add that like, it also deeply reeks of propaganda. Some of the greatest country songs ever written featured heavy themes of working class solidarity and were often written about unions and genuine working class struggles. Again: not saying all country artists have to be working class to make good music and not saying all country music HAS to be this to be good, but again, a lot of newer country music tries to sell you on this mythologized idea of the working class without any of the teeth. Working class people should not be idolizing the rich and the rich should not be making music for working class people.
  13. There are no bad genres, just bad music. That said, the genre with the highest concentration of awful music has to be country. No other genre has been as heavily commercialized and commodified as country music, and most of the people who MAKE country music are so incredibly out of touch with the content of their music, on account of being millionaires who've never done a day of blue collar work in their life. If country music was made by and for this mythologized concept of the southern blue collar worker they try to sell their listeners on, it wouldn't be NEARLY as popular as it is and listened to mainly by people living in urban areas. No self-respecting working class person calls themselves a redneck with pride unless they're completely detached from the actual meaning of that word. To be clear, not all country music fits this mold and you don't have to be a southern blue collar worker to make decent country music, but it comes off as extremely dishonest when you put on a fake southern accent and assume the image of a southern blue collar worker just to make the kind of radio-friendly garbage you usually hear on country stations.
  14. Calling women "females" is a massive red flag. People who do that reek of either incel, rapist, or general misogynist douche vibes.
  15. Not liking a war criminal doesn't mean you have a preference for a more bigoted and authoritarian war criminal.
  16. also helps a lot that "mlp fan" also avoids the issue of what to call nonbinary members of the fandom.
  17. It's always been sort of weird to me how MLP fans have a specific gendered word for being part of the fandom. Any other fandom is different, BNHA fan, Undertale/Deltarune fan, Fallout fan and so on... Other fandoms that have a specific word don't have a GENDERED word either, furry isn't gendered, stan isn't gendered, otaku isn't gendered. I prefer to just say "MLP fan".
  18. boy are you in for a treat, poster from 7 years ago
  19. Finally 100%ed Metroid Dread after 13 hours IGT Mostly spoiler free review: Unironically the best Metroid game. This is coming from a long-time Metroid fan who's been waiting for Dread for 15 years. I'm willing to accept that this may at least partially be giddiness on account of actually finally getting to play the damn thing, but that doesn't change how cool the whole experience was. The movement was fast and fluid, and made getting from point A to point B really fun and satisfying, the bosses were very well designed, very difficult, and VERY satisfying to beat, the story was exhilarating, the action was intense, the collectible hunt at the end of the game has never been more fun, and honestly, it was literally everything I could've ever asked for out of a perfect Metroid game. I had high expectations from mercurysteam, especially after Samus Returns, and they blew those expectations out of the water. Phenomenal game, easy 10/10.
  20. can confirm riley is an extremely cool name esp considering it's gender neutral so it goes both ways
