  1. @J.R. Ivory Star let out a marked sigh, as she saw the dragon began to build inside the cocoon. She dropped the shield surrounding Ice Blizzard, though she kept her own. She doubt it would hold anyways, so she could at least save herself some energy. It wasn't fair. Well, maybe it was, she thought, as she prepared herself for Ice Blizzard's next attack. It was her existence here that wasn't fair, the original sin. She had cheated, and now she needed to play by the rules set out for her. Which meant, in this case... She let out a sigh, and looked down. At least forty feet up. Would probably cost her her second shoulder, if she did it wrong. But could she...?
  2. @J.R. A suitable enough distance away to see, Ivory Star watched as Ice Blizzard began to slow down inside the cocoon. But, he hadn't tapped out yet, which meant... crap. Something big was coming. Something that she probably didn't want to stick around, and get caught in the radius of. So, only stopping to alter the frequency on the shield around Ice Blizzard, setting it to vibrate once again, and conjuring a similar shield around herself, she used a panel to float herself upward, hopefully out of harm's way. Walking with a shattered leg certainly wasn't an option, after all, so this would be the best it got.
  3. @J.R. Not this time, Ivory Star thought, as she saw the attack commencing. She had been learning, and adapting. When the blows came, she didn't fight them with power; instead, she simply let the walls move with the force, bending backwards from Ice Blizzard's attacks, but never quite yielding, and always advancing. They crawled up and over as they tightened, and in seconds, they covered him; a solid clear stretchy cocoon, with Ice Blizzard caught in the middle.
  4. @J.R. "Uhh..." Ivory Star blinked twice, at the weapon of mass destruction headed for her, poised to strike. She barely had time to move to the farthest edge of the shield, before it punched clean through, still striking her in the right shoulder on the way through. She heard the distinct sound of something shatter, as she was thrown off heavily to the side, spinning as she went. She came to a stop on the ground, some distance away. "...Ah..." She hissed with pain, as she rolled to sit, picking up one foreleg with another one. Yep... definitely broken. Probably shattered, really. And accompanied by no small amount of agony. But, how important was this match to her, she considered? As she once again closed a group of energy panels on Ice Blizzard, like a clear cube closing in to smash him from multiple directions, she figured she had her answer.
  5. @J.R. Ivory watched as Ice Blizzard bounced off the shield once again, with another heavy shot. This time, her whole shield rippled across the surface, bending from the force of the impact. Which meant that she didn't have much time left until it faded, or even another hit to take like that one. She needed to make this quick. Pulling a similar trick as before, she bent the energy in the air outside herself and Ice Blizzard into a sphere, and drew inward. Dirt, rocks, and other similar objects were pulled along, along with everything else inside the radius, as they were all pulled forward, directly towards the shield, and the energy columns. Once there, they would slam against them with an initial massive force, and then a crushing pressure, as she built more energy on top of it. At the very least, greatly limiting movement of whatever happened to be outside. At worst, threatening total compaction, as the force would soon stretch to beyond what even rocks and stone could survive in a solid form. ------ Celestia paused. Commonplace to other ponies, but to her, very bizarre, as it was something that she rarely did, or ever had to do. Only two circumstances in her life ever being sufficient to cause it, in fact. One, her being shocked beyond words, which gradually began to grow less and less common over thousands of years of walking Equis, and other planes. Or when she truly didn't know something. As was the case now. She let out a sigh. This was one of the problems she had discovered very early on in her planning; best to get it over with now. "I am not sure. Luna may have walked your dreams, and forgiven you, and I am willing to at least offer the chance, but neither of us have been hurt so personally by you as was Cadence." She skipped over the details; she didn't think Chrysalis needed to be reminded. "There are no ways around this; I hold no control over the actions of the Crystal Empire, so I cannot force jurisdiction over there, even if I had a need to." A fact which was partially untrue; she had ways of getting around practically everything, even if at a cost. But Chrysalis didn't need to know that. "Which leaves only the option of seeing my niece. Somehow, you'll have to convince her of your change, and of how much you need this."
  6. @J.R. No, it wasn't; that part of her that was determined to win this was burning. Peals of energy shot off from the shield; enormous, clear beams, that would knock into anything they hit with the force of a small building colliding. Amping up the power, she increased the number slowly, until barely a gap could be noticed in between them. Inside her shield, if one looked right, she would like she was sitting in a giant, spiked shell, protected from all sides. And she wasn't done yet, though likely, this would be one of her final attacks. Cold and frostbite would see to it that she wouldn't be doing much else, she thought, as she sent the final beam in the weave rushing forward towards Ice Blizzard.
  7. @J.R. "Hey!" Ivory Star coughed, as the icy smoke spread out once again, preventing her from seeing. Again, she had to note as she tried to see outside of the smokescreen; she'd really have to plan for that, for future events. But for now, she had bigger issues, like that this was probably some sort of... A distinct series of impacts on her still remaining shield drew her attention, as it actually shuddered under the force of the blows. Which meant that it wasn't an accident; either an elaborate trap, she concluded quickly or an attack, with no way of knowing which, under the smokescreen. Fine with her, for now. Drawing up energy around the shield, she slammed it downward, presumably generating enough force to send whatever the what that had struck her shield down flat to the ground, along with everything else in a twenty foot radius.
  8. @J.R. Ivory Star looked over, releasing the magic, as something seemed off. A tiny spot in the sky, riding off from the plane of snow and magic. Was that... Ice Blizzard riding an ice skateboard? She looked harder... It was, she figured out after a moment. Metal, she thought only to herself, though that still meant she had to try to finish this. Drawing up large energy planes on either side of him as he rode, she smashed them together, with enough force that it would able to be heard, like the slamming of two enormous doors.
  9. @J.R. The snow was completely still; if anything was moving down underneath, it couldn't be seen. Then, without warning, the snow underneath Ice Blizzard erupted, as a massive, heavy force projected itself upward, carrying a half ton of snow with it. Forty feet in all, sent soaring into the sky on a plane of energy. And beneath it, Ivory, concentrating heavily as she sent it higher and higher. Seventy feet... eighty...

  11. @Star Saber Nightingale could feel a pleasant tingling at the back of her skull, just from the words being spoken to her. Truth was, she was a bit more than a pyro maniac, or at least like to think that she was. She was a pyro enthusiast. A pyro addict. Fire was, to her, one of nature's most beautiful creations, above money, gold, and priceless works of art. She'd give it all up, and sometimes did, on rare occasions, just to admire the feel of a good flame. Perhaps, the thought had often occurred to her, that was the indication of a severe psychological issue. But she was always too enthused at the prospect to ask. Why ruin beauty? "Oh, I can tell you a thing or two about flames." For the first time since entering the tavern, her smile faded a fraction. "Unfortunately, i've never been blessed with the opportunity to actually feel them, for very obvious reasons." She sighed. "I'd give quite a bit of the vast sum of wealth that I have for a chance at that. Consider yourself a very lucky stallion. I do." ------- @J.R. As the explosion died down, there was a silence, typical of said situation; everything within the area had been blown away, or buried under ice and snow. After a minute however, a tiny patch within the world of white began to shudder. Ivory Star poked her head up through the snow, shaking back and forth to fling it out from her mane. Water could be seen splashing off of her mane as she did so. "I... didn't actually think that would work, for a second." With some difficulty, she pulled herself out of the snow pit, to stand on the new terrain. "High frequency shield. Melted the ice as it came." Well, most of it anyways, she thought to herself. The energy she had placed into said shield was a number, even for her, and it had given out during the back half, leaving her buried under a wave of snow. Hypothermia was among the least of her worries, as she hadn't checked, but she was sure something or two wasn't properly connected where it should be. Still, better what it would have been otherwise though, she finished, looking over at Ice Blizzard. He was still up, which she supposed meant that there was still a match to be had. Maybe. She'd figure it out later. For now, she tried something new. "Bye!" She waved, as she summoned a similar, less strenuous shield, though still shimmering with the same clear energy. Using her energy to flatten the ground down around her, she gradually forced herself into the conglomeration, until she disappeared from sight.
  12. @J.R. Ivory Star watched as the monstrosity of an attack that Ice Blizzard had launched collided with her own, battling it. Like two massive giants wrestling in the middle of the field. And, thus far, it looked like Ice Blizzard's was going to win, she thought contemplatively. She thought of her two remaining options; attack, or defend. She could muster up a bigger shot, if she needed to, but as she looked over to Ice Blizzard, on the other side of the clash, she settled on the second option. Moments before Ice Blizzard's blast overcame hers, sweeping out towards her, she flipped into a roll, surrounding herself with nothing more than a single, shimmering personally sized bubble shield. Then, the energy was over her, enveloping her inside the whitest of lights...
  13. @J.R. Ivory Star blinked as she looked over at Ice Blizzard, still charging her attack in the meanwhile. What she hadn't realized; there was a lot of energy being built up over on his side, and she didn't even need to use her own magic to see it. Maybe she should have gone with the first attack... No, she concluded an instant later. This would be enough. And if not, she had what she believed to be a trump card, if Ice Blizzard's particular pattern held up on his end. Or, if not, something that would at the very least ensure that she somehow survived this process. She really didn't want to conclude her first match with being carried off into the hospital. Or, for this body, an early grave, she thought with a sigh. She began. The first attack, consisting of little more than a massive, rolling wall of clear energy, at least forty feet high, and the same in length. It swept forward towards Ice Blizzard; provided it hit, it would feel like being smacked with several small buildings. Possibly excessive, but she'd have to wait for his own attack in order to see that. -------- @Star Saber Nightingale's ears perked up slightly, as she overheard the conversation between the two characters in the background. Maybe she'd ask around later, to see what was going on; this pit did sound incredibly interesting, after all. But for now, she focused on Fuse, giving him a soft chuckle in response. "Maybe you did." She shot him a grin, brewing with a cold intent. "I've been nearly everywhere in Equis, from Canterolt, to Las Pegasus, to the Badlands. I've done plenty of things that other ponies would regret, stole objects that would be considered a fortune, and evaded my way through guards, dragons, and minotaurs, and enjoyed every bit of it." She chuckled dismissively, looking smugly at Fuse. "In fact, over the years there's only one thing I enjoy more than prospect of causing a ruckus." She practically purred the word out as it came; even the thought was sufficient to give her chills. "Fire."
  14. @Orion Caelum Anette paused, thinking to herself. She had heard the name Caliber before, but when. The thoughts slowly came back to her as she focused on them. Someone she had met a while back, but hadn't really spoken more than a word to, in truth. "He seemed nice enough, when I met him, though I suppose it's very hard to tell at a first glance." She picked up her faint smile once again,as she looked at Wilhelm. "As for fighting the universe, well, i've been doing that ever since I left the institute. I'm sort of used to it by now, in all honesty..." She paused very briefly, realizing she didn't know whether that was a good thing or not. Probably not. "But if it's for someone I care about, i'll gladly kick destiny in the teeth one more time, as many times as necessary." The smile never left, though she did shoot the briefest of glances outside, past the window. An astute mind, or anyone who had been watching Anette carefully would notice a significant change; of the four dolls that had been with her, only two, Nightmare and Hero, remained next to her. -------- , , @Literally Snails, "Hey...!" The guards jumped and duck in fashion to as the bullets came flying, narrowly avoiding being marked by them by a stroke of luck. They turned the corner, but then paused, stopped dead in their tracks. They weren't exactly sure what they were seeing. It was some sort of... thing, thing being the only word in Equis appropriate for the situation. Nearly as tall as a minotaur, and three times as ugly, with too many heads for life. Some parts indicated unicorn, and some parts pegasi, but all of it was wrong. Like somepony had been playing around with a Mix-a-life set, and just hit random. And the noise. Was that...? The entire legion, some ten in all, backed up, adopting various expressions of revulsion and fear. One guard simply shook his head, before backing out of the alleyway and back down the street, muttering to himself. Two guards quickly found their internal stomach contents were now external, as they vomited uncontrollably despite themselves. And one ashamedly lost control of his bodily functions, though, for the rest of his days, none of the other guards would dare hold it against him. But, all at once, they backed up slowly in unison, before their animal instincts got the better of them. Then they bolted, not bothering to keep their voices down or their wits about them as they scattered. There would be many, many years of drinking to accompany this day. ------- @J.R. Ivory Star could feel the cold moving around her, like creepy, icy fingers, pinching at her skin. Unpleasant, to say the least. But she continued to build up the magic inside her as well, letting it saturate the air around her. Very soon, it went from simply feeling like liquid, to looking like it. The air around her was visibly swimming, clear energy dancing and twisting around her like living creatures. Then, in a rush, it was all gone. The magic extinguished, and it was just Ivory Star, gritting her teeth at the realization that, should she go through with that much energy in one spell, she'd probably kill him. Instead, she tried something else. Taking whatever was left of the energy she had been building, she set it to a wave around her, preparing a different, only slightly less effective spell. Hopefully, this would work, and Ice Blizzard wouldn't notice the difference. ------- If only she could. In truth, there were very few solutions she could come up with at all, that didn't require either costs too great, or sacrifices beyond her ability to manage as ruler. Or that didn't require her forcing her ponies into a situation that they wouldn't find an ounce of comfort in. But regardless, she needed to try. "My plan..." She paused in delivery of her thoughts; something she found indispensable, as a ruler. "As I am aware, there is only one object in the whole of Equestria capable of providing a constant outpouring of love. And that is the Crystal Heart." As she sure Chrysalis was aware; she'd had first hoof experience with it, after all. "What is intended would be for a separate town to be built, within its limits. You and your changelings would stay there, and, once in a particular time period, make trips to feed off of the love that is contained within." Celestia finished, but only in speaking. Already, her mind was calculating at a furious pace. One part working on possible angles this could go wrong, and to what extent. Another, calculating potential unexpected negatives and benefits in the given situation. And still another, watching Kevin and Chrysalis, studying their behavior. Despite herself, unraveling them... @P-Jay With the rush of a portal unfolding above the field, a soft gray unicorn appeared, looking around at the spectacle, for lack of a better word to describe the scene. A disaster, she concluded a split second later. One pony unconscious, hanging against some sort of weird orb thing, and some kind of machine, desperately trying to cut another out of what appeared to be a giant mechanical minotaur. Or at least, whatever was left of it. It appeared to be a molten wreck right now, and whoever was inside would probably die, if they were left in there any longer. She sighed to herself; she couldn't believe music would have to wait for now. "Okay, lets just make this quick..." She stopped only for the briefest of seconds, concentrating, feeling out the pony's form within the scrap, before she sent out a wave of pressure with the toss of her head, punching clean through the top half of the scrap. At least, enough to see her, and that was enough. In a rush of wind, solid purple portals appeared over both of them, herself, and the robot as well, which she assumed belonged to the mare in question. They all disappeared... Instants later, they reappeared, at the hospital. Nurse Redheart blinked, but, with the decades of experience afforded to her in this position, didn't miss a step. Stretchers were called, and both of them were carried away, to be rested and treated in separate rooms. The mare shook her head as they were taken off, still not quite understanding what had just happened. She muttered to herself " You know... I'm still not sure I even want to know..."
  15. , , @Literally Snails, The guard drew his spear as the stallion ran off, disappearing down the streets. He began to run after him, making his best effort, but rapidly losing ground. In desperation, he raised his voice, hoping to get other ponies in on the game. Yelling as loudly as he could... "Stop right there, criminal scum!"
  16. @J.R. Well, she'd rather not. But, like she had said before, she wasn't leaving here without a win. She nodded to him in agreement. "Got it." She drew energy into herself, in preparation for what would likely be the end game, and the air began to take on a distinctive shimmer around her again, as if she was caught in a heat haze. A unique pressure also made its way known, as if the space itself had replaced with a thin liquid. -------- , , @Literally Snails "Wha..." The guard had most definitely noticed the movement, but hadn't caught a single stroke of the blade strike that had dropped his tassel. He hadn't even noticed that a sword had been swung, until he saw the implement float to the ground, and saw the stranger re-sheathe his blade. He immediately dropped into a cold sweat. "Alright..." He put one hoof on his spear, as he dropped back into a defensive stance, guarding the mare behind him. "Refreshments are inside the arena, upon request. And I suggest that you head there, quickly, with all due haste, Ma'am." He turned his head slightly towards her to whisper, keeping his eyes on the stranger as well. When he was finished talking, he turned back to the stranger. "You... i'm going to have to ask you come with me."
  17. @J.R. Ivory Star held the shell together, keeping it tight even under the barrage of punches. But eventually, the excess force began to take its toll, causing her to have to choose between making it bigger, and maintaining. Eventually, the option dwindled down to just maintaining it, or letting it go, and she chose the latter, leaving Ice Blizzard to drop the few remaining feet to the ground. "Ice in the eyes? Really?" She shook her head. Inventive, at least. "So... round three?" She shuffled back and forth excitedly; this was going to be good, however it turned out.
  18. @J.R. "Ah!" For a split second, Ivory Star dropped her concentration, shouting as the flecks of ice dropped into her eye. That really stung. For a brief instant, her magic unfolded, allowing Ice Blizzard to drop, but as she wiped her eyes, and tensed through the pain, she caught him once again in a smaller, weaker field, only slightly above the ground. Gritting her teeth, she went about applying the field again, at a much slower rate.
  19. @J.R. "Sorry. Not letting you go that easy!" Putting yet more magic into the air, Ivory Star curled the energy around Ice Blizzard, pretty soon leaving a large, wagon-sized ball of invisible energy floating in mid-air, with him contained within. She began to add more layers on top of it as she went, increasing the strength, and the pressure. It would soon be difficult to even move, as it would already feel like half a ton was pressing directly down on him from all sides, with the number rapidly climbing in intensity. ------- , , @Literally Snails The guard stallion coughed, bringing himself into the focus of the group. "We're here. The arena, where all of the fights happen, and most of the official business, outside of what goes on in the princesses quarters. There's a training quarter just down the block from here, as well, if you need one. The attendants inside can inform you of whatever else you need, I believe." He looked over, giving an eye to Raze. "Perhaps I shouldn't interfere. But I can tell that you have no prior history with this woman, so can I just say, be a little nicer, would ya?" He shook his head in distaste. Such low and baseless claims to be making, against such a stunning and well mannered mare. A crime. He bowed low to her, in respect. "Though it may not be my place, I apologize for his ill treatment. Ma'am."
  20. @J.R. Ivory Star saw the elbow, putting up a small barrier to block it, but as the energy gave way, she felt an enormous pressure to her jaw, sending her spinning out and over the platform. Also unpleasant. She dropped the remaining ten feet to the stage floor, catching herself just barely, though the action caused no small amount of discomfort. "Gah! They don't make elbows like they used to. Or faces." She tested her jaw experimentally, and found that she could still use it fine, though probably best avoid those. Though, she piped in the back of her head, that's what she said last time, as she began to cast once again. Conjuring twin square panels of clear energy about one hundred feet across formed; one in the sky above Ice Blizzard, and one on the ground, beneath him. Directing them with magic, she sent them together, to sandwich him in between them.
  21. @J.R. Ivory Star blinked, following the panel that had been smacked upwards, until it disappeared into the sky. "Nice one!" She looked down, performing a shuffling motion almost like dancing, and began to send the rest of the panels down, as well. Some twenty in all came zipping out of the sky, heading directly for Ice Blizzard' location. They'd hurt like small blocks of concrete if they hit.
  22. @J.R. "Counting chickens?" Smirking, Ivory Star increased the tension in the air below her, forming an invisible but effective shield. As the tentacles came at them, they smashed against them. Just barely, but enough to hold the assault, for now. "I haven't even started yet!" Drawing up even more energy, she increased the area of the panels, until they covered the area between her and Ice Blizzard. Then, she let it go, dropping it to the ground selectively in large circular panels over Ice Blizzard. Literally raining sky, she thought, from his perspective.
  23. Beautiful music began to ring out from the stage of the musical hall. Unnaturally beautiful music; a piano who played as if it had been enchanted to capticate the pony heart, the way they played with a surreal intensity. But, strange, and even more surreal; the unicorn who stood atop the stage, and hadn't pressed a single key. Looking like the faintest outline of a ghost atop the dark stage, she opened her mouth, and began to sing a tune only she knew, to the nobodies which surrounded her by the dozens. "When the night...falls..." -------- @Literally Snails, "Ummm... yes. I can do that, too. Ma'am." Bowing once, more out of embarrassment than respect or obligation, the guard quickly nodded to the mare in front of him. Only taking an extra second to adjust his armor, he set off at a followable pace, heading dead straight for the arena. ------- @J.R. Ivory Star quickly dropped the energy below her feet as the spears came by, ducking them close enough to actually feel them whistling by over her head. Unnerving, to say the least. She re-positioned her roughly ten feet below, on another patch of air. "Evenly matched, so far!" She called out to Ice Blizzard, as she stuck out her tongue.
  24. , @Literally Snails "Uhhh...wha?" The guard pony snorted lightly, as he startled awake, shaking himself to attention. "Reporting for duty, Princess Lunestia! Princess Celestia! Uhh..." The guard blinked, as his eyes finally cleared, revealing the two ponies in front of them. Neither of which were either of the intended princesses, or royalty at all. He set into a heavy blush. "Uh, sorry, m'am!" He slapped hoof to forehead, hard enough to sting, immediately regretting it. "Twenty-four hours of duty starts to wear on you, ma'am. But if you're looking for registration, as I assume you are, you'll want to go to the arena." He pointed the hoof still secured tightly to his head off in the distance, towards the dome that nearly towered over the horizon. "Largest building here, ma'am. Can't miss it, ma'am." ------- @J.R. In a rush of movement, Ivory Star and the cage she stood on were both flipped into the air, sent careening straight into the sky. On more instinct than anything else, she cast the same spell as before, rolling on air some thirty feet above the ground, before coming to a stop. Quickly grabbing the cage before it could smash onto the ground below, she reversed its direction via magic, sending it spinning back towards Ice Blizzard fast enough that the sides seemed to blend together, becoming one.
  25. @J.R. At the sound of the cage falling, Ivory Star tilted her head up, before firing another disk. As the force blew a hole in the roof of the cage, she simultaneously jumped on it, pulling herself on top. Looking over Ice Blizzard now, she concentrated, before firing a bundle of energy into the ground. Within seconds, it devolved into the consistency of mud, and would cause him to start rapidly sinking beneath.
