  1. Harvey Beaks was a cartoon that aired on Nickelodeon 4 years ago in 2015. It was created by C.H. Greenblatt who also created Chowder and was also a writer for early SpongeBob(Band Geeks!) and Billy & Mandy.

This show was unlike anything Nick ever put out. It has a lot more in common with MLP, Peanuts and Winnie the Pooh than it does to most Nick shows. It follows a bird named Harvey and his imp friends Fee & Foo and have adventures in the magical forest and many of the characters are forest animals. The show has a strong emphasis family and friendship, lovable quirky characters, stunning watercolor visuals, charming stories and a beautiful orchestrated soundtrack. Nick shows are very infamous for being over the top and having gross out but Harvey Beaks is the direct opposite. The humor is subtle but charming. This show like MLP requires some commitment but if you stay invested you’ll love it, and it’ll make you feel like a child again.

Unfortunately the show was screwed over by Nick because it couldn’t get SpongeBob level ratings. Greenblatt was displeased with the Network for doing this,  with the show being cancelled after 2 seasons. As a result few people know of it or watched it. It’s easily one of the greatest cartoons I’ve ever watched period. I even like it more than most of the classic Nick shows, it’s that good.

  2. I think it's pretty obvious. Anti Bronies hate My Little Pony and bronies because for one thing they think it's stupid for guys to watch a show that looks like a little girls show. MLP has been cemented to the public as being for little girls for decades especially with G3. It's a very feminine franchise but actual horses and ponies are actually very masculine in real life. But still ponies became a girl stereotype similar to fairies mainly because I think more girls think ponies and fairies are cute so companies make pony or fairy toys very feminine. Oh and also the show Fairly Odd Parents is about fairies but never get's flak for being girly because there are humans, there are masculine fairies, and in a nutshell a show that both boys and girls can enjoy. Why does FiM get flak for being girly but not Fairly Odd Parents? Well because Fairly Odd Parents was newer and was never cemented as pandering to girls while MLP has been around since the 80's and didn't catch a broad audience for decades. If the Barbie, Care Bears toylines underwent a huge overhaul and which attracts a male audience it would probably be the same effect.

Another thing is that Anti-Bronies had ponies shoved down their throat especially on the internet. Because from what I know after the overnight success of FiM by bronies, pony pictures, memes, avatars, videos, and other content exploded on the internet as well as bronies forcing FiM on other people, which caused there to spawn many haters who are also from my experience some of the most negative people on the internet. Most of them haven't actually seen the show and are just hating MLP based on the fandom alone which is ridiculous because I feel like the show and fandom are on different levels. A lot of these haters are trolling because they don't want bronies or MLP to even exist but trolling is not going to help at all.

From my experience in the first few years of Fim specifically 2010-2013 I haven't seen that much MLP content on the internet, I've maybe seen a few such as avatars and memes here and there. I don't know why I never saw much pony content on the internet but I think I just wasn't on the places on the internet with lots of bronies. Even when I did see some MLP content on the internet I simply just didn't care, I figured guys watch it because it's a cute show and girls who grew up with the franchise want to relive their childhood.

Now around the time when FiM and bronies became popular I was actually really anti about another franchise. Angry Birds (I still hate it by the way), I mean I had that game and franchise shoved down me and the popularity annoyed me to death and I felt like it was a threat to handheld systems like the DS and I love that system line and the games so I saw Angry Birds as a real threat. Not only that but I legitimately hated the game itself, the gameplay frustrates me more than Superman 64, the character designs make me cringe, and it's just overall the most unpleasant experience I've ever had.

But anyway that's why I think there are so many anti bronies because they think it's stupid for guys to like a "little girls show" or think the fandom is really weird. But that's one of the things that makes fandoms so fun, they can be as weird as they want. Because the world could be boring without fandoms and followings like this. The brony fandom never bothered me because I really love cute japanese characters such as Pokémon, Kirby and Totoro and MLP ponies are cute too. So I feel like FiM is on the level of shows like Arthur and Blue's Clues and is mostly innocent and cute with some morals and it reminds you of childhood.

  3. Now on the internet like on YouTube I feel like it's not that great to have lots of views on your videos. I feel like the most important part of sharing videos is having fun making them putting your expressions in them. The views and subscriber count don't matter at the end of the day since you can get a lot of views and comments but you could also get lots of downvotes and negative comments that the amount of them doesn't matter to you anymore. It's like getting replies to forum posts, it's exciting to get some at first but when you keep getting so many you realize it's not that exciting.

  4. Generation V is my favorite of Pokémon which might be the most controversial but it's got my favorite story, Unova was fun to traverse in, Black and White 2 are my favorite games of all time because of the amount of content, and my favorite Pokémon Keldeo came from that generation even though a lot of bad ones came out too. Now I actually can still play any Pokémon game except for Red and Blue because they are slow and FireRed and LeafGreen play so much better. I can still play Yellow because it seems to play a little faster and you start as Pikachu. I also really enjoy Gen 2, 3, their remakes, 4, and 6 as well.

  5. The way I see it, expectations and standards should remain constant, especially standards. (How high or low your expectations depends on you.) Focus on the quality regardless of tone because "tone" and "depth" aren't interchangeable. It's equally possible to have a very deep, lighthearted story and a shallow, serious story. It depends on the execution. The best stories in FIM offer plenty of well-done depth regardless of tone.

Completely disagree. Changes shouldn't be willingly accepted. Instead, examine the changes and see why they work or don't. A lot of people criticized the Twilicorn because the change is heavily rushed, inorganic, and reliant on broken continuity of the cutie mark being predestined. A lot of people criticized the castle because Ponyville's houses have a very consistent architectural design, but Twilight's castle is way too tall and feels way too cold.

Besides Twilicorn do you think this show is getting worse, better or it's still on the same level of quality? Because I feel that this show is getting more expansive.

  6. One thing I would change is to be more accepting of show changes such as Twilicorn or her castle. I feel Mr. Enter does a good job of accepting changes. And also I would like people to stop craving for more dark serious episodes all the time because that's not the main tone of this show plus I feel like there's a good amount of dark serious moments as it is.

  7. My typical expectations since I first saw this show:

A mostly light-hearted cartoon with cute characters, solid morals, stories that are good enough to deliver the message, usually a relaxing tone, and some dark serious moments occasionally. And like most shows a lot of good episodes and some duds.

Are these good enough expectations and should I just keep them?

  8. @@TheJLeeTeam and @@Alto, I completely disagree with you. Lowering the expectations to the level for certain shows would create implications that some family shows should have a lower standard. Don't. If you give one show a standard, apply it to all to keep it fair.

So I should keep my expectations the same as when I first started watching? When I first started my typical expectations were mostly a light hearted show with life lessons and some dark more serious moments every so often. And some good episodes and bad episodes like most shows. Should I just keep those expectations?

  9. One thing I would change is to lower expectations for stories that are darker, and more serious and mostly expect more light hearted stories that don't need to be really deep but just good enough to deliver a moral.

By the way Tommy Oliver seems to have a similar situation I'm having though not as abrasive.

  10. I never watched him but he sounds like an asshole. I feel like this show still has the same level of quality, alot of good episodes with some duds. I don't expect dark, epic, deep, serious stories from this show. Just a light hearted show with stories good enough to implement a message.

  11. Kind of. I like the show because of the relaxing innocent tone to it. Though I don't like how the show is analyzed so much. There are other shows I watch too. But this one is special because it has some good life lessons, while there are a few stories that don't execute them very well, most of them do. I also really like the songs. I don't watch it for the story because I can watch other shows such as Gravity Falls or Regular Show for a deeper story. But still it reminds me of childhood shows on PBS Kids, Disney, and Nick Jr. I feel I would enjoy this show more if I started watching it when I was around 5 years old. I have aspergers syndrome and it helped my social skills as a late teen.

There are some aspects of this fandom I dislike but I enjoy art. And I actually do think Twilicorn is a good idea and I feel Twilicorn would grow on more with this fandom as time goes on.

  12. Even though I'm mostly a Nintendo fan and that Zelda had a bigger impact on gaming, my vote goes to the Kingdom Hearts series. Even though the gameplay and controls feel stiff at times, and may have confusing stories, I enjoy it because the challenges are less frustrating for me compared to Zelda, The inclusion of Disney characters hooks me, has some nice messages, and the series has I higher ratio of games I enjoy playing. So I have an easier time getting into the Kingdom Hearts series than Zelda. There's like at least half of the Zelda series that I can't get into. And I'm thinking of getting a PS4 just for Kingdom Hearts III.
