Hello there, my crowd! Welcome to my Weekly Musings: Orange Edition.
[I ❤ JAPAN] -- [I ❤ THE COLOR RED] -- [I ❤ CELESTIA]
Feel free to leave a video request. Your video will eventually be featured in a future Weekly Musings entry!
Sometimes I wonder if I should just make posting these on Monday a regular thing... For those wondering, this is late because of a movie, and some other personal business. Don't worry about it, my crowd.
The biggest thing that happened in the week before was an amazing announcement... Space Cop Jiban is now up for preorder! The Japanese show that may have inspired Robocop can now be enjoyed internationally! And we also saw the release of another episode of Elements of Justice. It's good, but it really makes me anxious to see what happens next in the courtroom.
There was also some trailers. I am looking forward to Transformers One more than most of the live action movies. As a fan of ponies, I am somewhat interested in Thelma. I at least have some interest, which is more than I can say for Season 2 of Velma.
Tried a new kind of soda known as Olipop. It's mostly just juice. If you must try it, go for the Watermelon flavor. It's better than the Tropical Punch flavor. Also tried Gold Peak Green Tea. It's basically Lipton Green Tea, without the Citrus.
MOVIE TIME! I recently saw Aquaman & The Lost Kingdom! Going into this movie, I wasn't sure what to expect. The DCEU/Snyderverse is ending and this may very well be the last entry into that universe. Kind of hard to get into an ending, especially one that doesn't even feel like a conclusive ending. I could only hope that it would be worth ending on, despite some behind-the-scenes drama. In some ways, the movie starts out as if we're watching the 3rd or final movie in a series, despite this being only the 2nd one. There were moments where Aquaman tried to be as wild and as fun as Ironman, yet there were moments where they tried to play it like a traditional Aquaman story (even though I miss the giant kaiju-style from the first one...). There were slow moments, great moments... It was neither bad nor good. It was just perfectly fine 2nd movie faire. It carries the excitement of the first, but sets up greater things in case of a 3rd. A third that probably won't happen. But I suppose you could say the ending with the promise of a better, more hopeful future is a nice ending as well. It might not be a spectacle, but it is poetically sweet.
BoonBoom 07: Orange Peel Out? So the big thing about this episode was seeing the debut of BoonOrange. While it was nice, the rest of the episode just felt completely random. Hilarious in places, but random none the less. And just as I thought, I may need to see one more episode before I hang up this show after all.
Gotchard 31: Gaining Juliet. ...It was okay. It was kind of lame they had a fake-out death scene in the beginning that amounted to nothing. It was a weird way allude to what was to come, which was way better. I love seeing Platinum Gotchard and Majade working together. Not much else to say except the episode was just okay.
That's it for now, my crowd. Take care, and keep looking for what's new.
Here, have something cute. This is "Lucario and Riolu" by Only Jerry.

TOKUSATSU MUSIC HIGHLIGHT:
"Goshowa Kudasai Ware no Na wo!" (Chant My Name!) by Masaaki Endoh.Sparking! ...Oh, wait.
From the shadows of other Ultras before him comes a new Ultra that will continue the legacy. His powers are awesome, his personality is quite friendly, and all he asks... Is that you chant his name! This Ultra is one of the first to get dubbed in a LONG time! You can watch the series dubbed and subbed on YouTube! And not only is it very fitting that Mr. Endoh is singing this theme, but a certain Goku voice actor makes an appearance in the English dub. (Seriously, I love this song. I only saw a few episodes, but I have not been able to put this song down.)Stay ultra, my crowd.

Oh my gosh, I'm getting replies to this~!
In Japan, there are a number of live-action superhero franchises. One of them is known as the Ultraman franchise. Ultraman Z is one of the newer entries into the franchise. The song is the Opening Theme from that show. Glad you are enjoying it.
I agree! Endoh is a veteran in the industry who has worked with the legendary supergroup JAM Project. He knows what he is doing.

Yep. A day late again. I can explain, though. Hang in there, my crowd.
Basically things have slowed down enough that I have begun working on the model kit I got for Christmas. Which is why this update was late; the model kit has been taking up my free-time. It's finally warm enough that paints and glues will dry faster. Though to be honest, there have been set backs. I don't have all the paints and chemicals I do have. I figured out some ways to speed the process along, but it feels like one-step forward and two-steps back. If I had figured out that I'd need more supplies, my Saturday would have gone differently...
Speaking of Saturday, I had a really good day! I did some shopping and got myself a new pair of work shoes. I ate at one of my favorite places. Came home to find Celestia was following me! There were also some strange things that happened, but I wasn't going to let any of that ruin the good day I had.
I'm on pins and needles because of all the rumors coming out of CinemaCon, which I didn't even know was a thing! There are trailers that I wish would come out all ready. Until then, I saw the trailers for the new Super Monkey Ball game and the sequel to the Joker movie. The later is the one I'm actually excited about.
So after much thinking about it, I've decided... I'm going to watch at least 2 more episodes of BoonBoomger, give or take. I want to see the premiere of the 5th BoonBoomger member. Maybe get a sense of what this show will be like with its full cast at the very least. After that, I'll put BoonBoomger down and step away from Super Sentai for a while. I'll finish up Gotchard since it's almost done, and then step away from that. I might catch some tokusatsu movies I haven't seen yet, but only until I'm caught up on everything. I won't pick it back up until some personal things change in my life. But for now...!
BoonBoom 06: BoonBonding! He can blame it on the monster as much as he wants, but seeing BoonBlue going from disbelieving to male bonding was so awesome! Just like Pink, I was loving this turn around! And BoonRed just made a personal rivalry with the new commander! Where will this go, I wonder.
Gotchard 30: Losing Romeo. Well color me surprised when we got a DonBrothers Comedy Duo cameo! Probably the best thing about this episode. They made Gotchard look momentarily week so Rinne/Majade could have her character arc, and they took away Kaiji's love interest to make her Gotchard's love interest. Please don't do this... Can't the supporting character have a love interest? Does the main character ALWAYS have to attract all the female characters?
That's it for now, my crowd. Take care, and drive one more lap around the course.
Like I've said before, sometimes YouTube manages to recommend me something interesting. I'm not a country music fan in any stretch of the imagination. However, combining death metal and bluegrass? Color me interested. I know that this is just an arrangement made digitally, probably using MIDI files as a base or something, but am I the only one that thinks this has an oddly oriental sound to it? Would love to hear this done with real instruments. This is, "Deathgrass Symphony" by Appalachian Anarchy.

TOKUSATSU MUSIC HIGHLIGHT:
"Spirit" by Project DMM.It's All Right!
Another Ultra series I am interested in. It starts off with a mystery. And while I don't know if Cosmos is the first, he definitely makes a striking debut with a blue base form. A big departure from the usual red. And as you can tell from the song, this is where Project DMM really starts coming into their own, earning the title of the official band of Ultra! ...Just don't look too deeply into the main actor's history. Not everyone who plays the roll becomes a hero in real life.Take care, my crowd.

A weekly update that's on time? It's a miracle, my crowd~!
To start things off, we had a holiday recently. April Fools Day! I avoided being fooled, but I still managed to fool some friends. That's a win in my book.
Keeping some friends of mine in my prayers right now. Not gonna tag them out of concern for their privacy, but they've been having medical emergencies in their families. I hope things clear up and that everyone makes it out healthy and safe.
In the meantime, I've been having some great days~! I got to try Rice Krispy Treats made with Peeps, but I may have to make it from scratch. The method I used was not ideal. I got some Gundam markers and some adhesives for my model kit. I got to eat out at some nice places. And to top things off, I finally got something I always wanted... One of those waving lucky cat statues! This one is small and solar powered, but it's in just the right colors.
And the last personal thing to report is that a long chapter in my life has finally come to a close. I've been holding onto some short music clips since the late 90's. The source of the songs? Unknown. I had no way of identifying these songs. I was afraid I never would. However, thanks to the website WatZatSong, the mystery was solved in record time! All 6 songs were identified; and the albums they come from can be purchased for REALLY cheap if I want! I doubt I have any other mystery songs in my inventory, but if I do, I now know where to go. Isn't the internet fabulous?
Gotchard 29: All Fox, No Ace. The episode started off strong with a mystery. It was cool seeing Gotchard in his red samurai form again. Fitting for a set of episodes like this; though it's probably the only highlight of this episode. That and Gotchard's friend being the one to become brave enough to earn all those new Chemies for a change. The ending just leaves me confused. Are we not wiping people's memories anymore? Why was their professor called over? Are they just going to let Kaiji, the medium, and the land sharks go? Were they just lingering on that shot for sentimental reasons? I am so confused!
BoonBoom 05: Better Sirens! It's the premiere of Boon Black, and I gotta say, he's giving off all the Go-On Black vibes. However, I think he might actually be a better police officer. Furthermore, he has an axe. Is there ever a time when an axe isn't cool? That it's kind of strange how the axe, in “rod mode”, looks like a backwards sword. That's mildly annoying, but still pretty awesome. Lastly, this episode didn't quite play out the way I would have written it, but it still works. It got to where it needed to be.
Now that 5 episodes of BoonBoomger have passed, I think I can make a judgement call. ...At least, that's what I want to say. At this point, I have no idea if I am going to keep watching. I want to take a break and distance myself from Tokusatsu for a while. A show like BoonBoomger is a fine show to step away from simply because it is a good show. But part of me wants to keep watching. The tone is perfect; not too silly, but not too serious either. The characters are precious. Most of all, it feels like they are building up to a mystery with a big reveal. So all I can say now is, I want to think about it a little more. If I don't report on BoonBoomger next week, it means I am taking a hiatus. If I do report on it, then I'm officially addicted~!
That's it for now, my crowd. Take care, and bring on the good luck.
No better way to celebrate April Fools than with a classic case of mistaken identity. This is "OMG SONIC IS SMOKING?! [Home Movies/Sonic Parody]" by RocketDogShawn.

TOKUSATSU MUSIC HIGHLIGHT:
"Ultraman Neos" by Tatsuya Maeda.ALSO, A 2-FOR-1! ...Kinda?
"Ultraman Neos" by Project DMM.
Don't stop! Don't give up!
The year 2000 was an interesting year. For many, this is when the Heisei era TRULY began. It's when other giants in the Tokusatsu business began having a rebirth, started using CGI that was now easier to access, and slowly started to ease their way into High Def. But while Rider and Sentai were looking forward, Neos was combing the future with the past? Basically, a pilot of this series was made in 1995, using the Maeda version of the OP theme. However, Neos wouldn't be turned into a TV show until 2000, where they used the Project DMM version of the OP theme. Personally speaking, I like the Maeda version the most. The deeper voice and slightly slower pace make the song a bit more impactful. And it's kind of fitting that they waited until the year 2000 for this. The two main Ultras of the show are obvious based on the original Ultraman and Ultraseven. The past and future coming together.Take care, my crowd.

Hi there, my crowd! Nope, this is not a joke. I really am late again~ This time, blame it on a sudden increase of mod duties and a BUNCH of IRL stuff happening behind the scenes. When it rains, it pours.
So I guess the biggest thing to post is Easter Sunday! It's exactly as you might have guessed. Has a big lunch with my family, and a few extra sweets too. Incidentally, wearing my new red pants was perfect for the holiday. Also, I had Good Friday off, but it wasn't filled with free time...
The tough thing about the week was helping my mother. She hired someone to tear down her garage. I was afraid she might have gotten scammed when they did not show up on Thursday. However, they did arrive on Friday instead and tore it down; cleaned the debris too. They did not level the grounds like they said they would, but it was fine. Sunday, my uncle helped rake up the property and smooth it over at least. And now the two of us are working together to get a new shed for my mother, because I don't know if I can do this on my own. I don't want my mother stressing over any of this.
BoonBoom 04: No One Drives Alone. I am loving all the attention to details. The CGI race scene still feels unnecessary, but at least it explains how the Robo gets there instantly. I like how they aren't waving off the existence of the superheroes as something that no one notices, somehow. I am glad a government agency is getting involved with all this. They are openly acknowledging how awkward the helmet designs are. Even Boon Pink being the first to get arrested makes absolute sense. But the real charm is how none of this is done for comedic affect. It is played with sincerity while keeping the characters true to who they are. Humor is only injected in moments where it's not offensive or distracting. (And I am kind of hoping the ISA agent ends up being a major, reoccurring character in this series.~)
Gotchard 28: All Holofoil's Eve. Seriously, this would make for a GREAT Halloween episode! You know I love me some Japanese folklore; and yes that includes yokai. But I like how they are building up to a bigger story regarding this village. At least, for now I am.
That's it for now, my crowd. Take care, and there's no shame in asking for help.
What can I say? Every once in a while, I like a good meme song. Besides, it's been a hot minute since I've enjoyed a Spanish song, and this is gaining some international popularity as of lately. This is "Dubidubidu" by Christell.

TOKUSATSU MUSIC HIGHLIGHT:
"Ultraman Gaia!" by Masayuki Tanaka and Kazuya Daimon.Fight on and Hold on for this one!
Not much to say about this show. This one tries to distance itself from the universe that other Ultras are from, at least at first. While the narrative is built on the bones of your standard Ultra show, they do try to have some fun with it. Even the theme song is rather fun and bouncy. I might consider giving this a shot if you don't want a simple Ultra show to start with and not have to worry about crossover materials.Take care, my crowd.

I am beginning to think I should just call these Monday Updates. Let's get into this long overdue summary, my crowd.
I guess the biggest thing I did was help clear my mother clear out here garage. We both found a tool that we wanted to keep, found a lot of things we wanted to throw away, and some other hidden treasures too. It was a lot of work, but worth it.
Two movie trailers came out recently. I am really hoping Beetlejuice 2 will be worth the wait; the casting is all ready great. I nave no hopes for the franchise anymore, but Alien Romulus does look somewhat promising.
[ 1 / 2 ] Faiz 20th: Paradise Incomplete. The original Kamen Rider Faiz TV show will always hold a special place in my heart as the first Rider show that I ever saw from start to finish. I know it wasn't perfect, but I was hoping this movie would be the epic little cherry on top. And who knows where it would go since Dive and Zi-O have really messed with Faiz's continuity over the years. Instead, this movie ended up being a mixed bag. Not terrible, but not perfect. It's held back by plot-holes, ruining Mari's character arc, and a desire to make the movie a sort-of rehash of the best plot-points of the TV show.
[ 2 / 2 ] It mostly picks up where the TV show left off instead of acknowledging anything else (mostly). And based off the ending, it seems they are setting up for more Faiz material after this movie. If we get it, and the next entry into Faiz explains all the plot-holes, then hooray! But you never want to end a movie this way, especially when it could be your last. Still, there were some great upsides. We got an awesome PA about the dangers of AI. The female Rider, Rena/Muez, easily was the most interestingly complex character. (Practically a female Kaixa.) Kaido/Snake Orphnoc finally became best character. Delta was not forgotten. And best of all, it manages to redeem Takumi's character after it had been ripped to shreds in Drive.
BoonBoom 03: Is It Time, Rangers? Can't say anything positive or negative here. It's just a standard episode, but they did debut a new weapon for the BoonBoom Robo. Also, I can see they are setting up the story for the 5th member.
Gotchard 26: Fantasy Finale?! It's the epic premier of Rinne/Majade's father as a Kamen Rider Wind! And I hate to see him defeated just as fast as he was introduced, but he went out like a boss. And he might not be dead! That might have just been a fake out death. I think that was an alchemy-made double. Guess we'll see. Just seems weird to bring back a great character with even greater powers, just to kill him off before he can explain anything.
Gotchard 27: Pressed in Plantinum! Now this was a great episode. Geryon is defeated. Gotchard has become Platinum Gotchard. The Chemies are back. I bet even Spanner has a new outlook on the Chemies as well! ...Oh, and the professor is back. He just is. Kind of lame, but I'm not letting it detract from this otherwise great episode. And to think, we're only a little halfway done with this series. What more is there to tell?
That's it for now, my crowd. Take care, and see the sights.
This is one time where the specific video does not matter. I've just been enjoying these shorts by Justice Buys. Not all of the items they list are great, but some are inspiring and could make all the difference in your everyday life.

TOKUSATSU MUSIC HIGHLIGHT:
"Ultraman 80" by TALIZMAN.He almost came to ALL of us from a star.
From what I understand, this Ultra was not positively received at the time. Most say it was a shift in trends, I think it was the design of the suit. The red scalp somehow really makes this Ultra look more human than others. What's really weird is that, at one time, this show was almost dubbed for American audiences. Yes, it's true! They even had Adam West of Batman fame slated to be the lead role. It never came to be, and the pilot that was produced has been completely lost and never leaked anywhere. Imagine, in another reality, Adam West could have been the voice of a Japanese superhero...AND SINCE WE LOST TWO DAYS WITH THE FORUM BEING DOWN, AND ABSOLUTELY NO OTHER REASON, HERE'S ANOTHER SONG!!
"Ultraman Dyna" by Tatsuya Maeda.
Dynamite not included.
We now come back around once more to the modern era. That's right, all the classic era Ultra themes are covered! ...Well, except for any movie-exclusive Ultras, but that's a different story. If you're thinking of getting into it; remember that this series is a direct sequel to Ultraman Tiga. Crossovers are common place, but it's rare when an Ultra series is a direct sequel to one that came before. But it was such a popular move that Tsuburaya still celebrates it even now.Take care, my crowd.

...
Huh? Weekly update?
Sorry, not doing that this time. Genuinely have nothing to report on, other than I've been reading a book. Did nothing for St. Paddy's day other than have a Shamrock Shake. Didn't watch tokusatsu. Don't even have a decent video to share. So I thought I'd skip this time.
Maybe next time, my crowd.

TOKUSATSU MUSIC HIGHLIGHT:
"The☆Ultraman" by Isao Sasaki and Columbia All-Stars.Third time's the charm.
"The Ultraman" was an anime made in late 1970's. If you've seen anything like Speed Racer, the original Voltron, or Gatchaman; then you know what kind of art style to expect. Kind of ironic, really. Some say that the animated Ultras from the American cartoon, Ultraman: The Adventure Begins/Ultraman USA, had some of the weakest hero designs. And yet this Ultra, made in Japan for an anime, has a similar design aesthetic. Amazingly the Japanese OP theme was sung by Isao Sasaki, a legendary vocalist for both anime and tokusatsu. The anime itself was dubbed twice for American audiences; neither of which were super faithful to the source material, and neither of them even tried to use the JP theme song in any way. Not even an instrumental. But the third release was the best. Thanks to Mill Creek, we now have the complete series available in DVD. You can even stream it for free!Take care, my crowd.
