Hello there, my crowd! Welcome to my Weekly Musings: Orange Edition.
[I ❤ JAPAN] -- [I ❤ THE COLOR RED] -- [I ❤ CELESTIA]
Feel free to leave a video request. Your video will eventually be featured in a future Weekly Musings entry!
It's been a strange week, maybe?
Confused clap. Let's get into it, shall we my crowd?
Personally speaking, nothing much has been happening to me. If anything, bigger things have been happening with my mother. She got a letter from the state saying that she owes money for collateral damage, even though insurance should have paid for that. Also, she's been having some troubles with online banking. She'll be trying to fix these issues soon. Really hope things improve for her.
She is considering a part time job, but she barely has any free time left as it is.
In a rather unexpected twist, I saw most of the Harley Quinn cartoon series. Or, to be specific, I saw most of Season 1 minus the last episode. It aired on Toonami because they are between anime titles right now (Why don't they just get One Piece back on the air? It's a classic and it's reliable). My thoughts? Let me put it this way... This show goes into partial parody territory (not all the way into self-parody, there are story moments that try to be serious too). The show lures you into a false sense of what it's going to be like in the first episode. If you go into this thinking you're going to see DC characters in their classic or best interpretations, if you are expecting this to follow the same sense that the animated universe usually follows, if you're expecting this show to be consistent with it's own rules; then you will be infuriated and possibly offended. However, I think this is suppose to be a light hearted venture that you're not suppose to take too seriously, despite the fact that it's aimed at adults. If you can accept it that way, you'll find a lot of the material way more funny and enjoyable. I could list MANY examples of stuff that only work in that comedic tone but doesn't hold water anywhere else, but I won't bog you down since many people seem to enjoy this show. Just know that suddenly by comparison, Lego Batman suddenly looks a lot better. Heck, I'm not even done, there's still a second season! But would I watch more? Maybe. If I seek it out now, it's only because I hate to leave something unfinished (I heard fans are mixed on Season 2). But unless you've all ready got HBO Max or something, no need to be in a hurry to hunt this down.
MOVIE TIME! I just saw Disney's Hercules. And all I can say is... Can I see that again?! I genuinely enjoyed this! That's all I can say. I was quite happy watching this. I left smiling ear to ear. I went into it with no expectations other than to let the movie speak for itself and do not compare it to the actual tales of Greek mythology, because we all know how Disney likes to make new, romanticized fairy tales out of old stories. But that works for me because I'm not super familiar with Greek mythology anyways! And when I think of it as the DAU version of Hercules (Disney Animated Universe) instead of something trying to match the real stories (because real Greek mythology can be kind of messed up in some places), I find myself with something wonderful. There's just SO much to talk about! I want to see more of Pegasus, the adult jokes and issues that they snuck in so subtly, and the fact that Herc didn't lose any of his parents. But I don't want to ramble for too long. Also, Meg was best character, change my mind. Next time... Black Widow. (At the very least.)
Saber 45: A Slow, Deep Cut!
This is it, ladies and gentlemen. It's a slow burn to the finale. Along the way, we saw many things. Maybe not the final fight we wanted to see, but we saw a lot of cool things. Sophie turning into Caliber and making peace with the spirits of her previous knights, Desast's spirit finding salvation, and some more lore about this story. I won't panic right now over Slash's death, because the series isn't over and anything could change. Still even with all this, it's a grind to get to finale we've all been waiting for.
Zenkaiger 22: Bully For A Bullseye!
Gotta say, with such a simple premise, I was not expecting Gaon to finally have to face the fact that he's been showing too much favoritism towards humans. He felt like he messed up, but he made up for it. And surprise for a surprise, I didn't expect this episode to end on a cliffhanger! I knew they were building up Stacey's return, but I didn't expect them to leave us hanging like this.
As I write this weekly update, I'm a little sad because the Celestia banner went down...
Farewell, Princess. It was a good run while it lasted. In fact, it lasted longer than I expected. And now back to one we've seen before a few times.
Last thing to say before signing off. I am going to take a break from Tokusatsu. It hurts because it feels like I am one episode away from Saber's finale, but I said I would, and I shall. I need to give myself some breathing room with these episodes. Maybe I'll do something else instead. ... Maybe a movie double feature?
That's it for now, my crowd.
Take care, and always pay your bills on time.
I liked this trailer as soon as I saw it. That was a long time ago, and since it was dropped, more information about Sonic's Netflix cartoon has dropped. Everyone expects it to be a wild ride through the Sonic multiverse, including me. But just in case that fails to come to life, this fanfilm might be the next best thing. I have no idea when it'll drop. It could end up in development heck. But I'll keep waiting to see which show wins the race. This is "SONIC VILLAINS: A Sonic Fanfilm - 30th Anniversary Teaser Trailer".
