Best seal! The GREATEST seal! The only seal you'll ever need in your whole life!
(Art by WitchTaunter)
Well, my crowd... G5 is upon us. (NO SPOILERS! Spoilers will be deleted.)
Until I actually see it, let me tell you about the journey I went on.
I saw Pony Life. All of it. Here are my thoughts. For those that don't want spoilers, I'm putting it behind a spoiler tag just in case. I don't think I spoil anything beyond a basic description of the show, but I'll be considerate just in case.
SpoilerTo put it simply, I didn't like it, but I don't think it was made for the long time fans.
It's not completely bad; there are SOME good things that came out of it. There were a few lines that got a laugh out of me, like when Twilight said “I procrastinated for the first time, and I hated it." They actually did have some story arcs that lasted a few episodes; even if they aren't the most engaging of story arcs. We got the best version of Bulk Biceps and even the best version of the Flim Flam Brothers; which I was not expecting at all. However, there are bad things that nearly negate all the good. Occasionally, there are confusing morals/lessons. There's at least one episode in each season that is completely pointless; maybe more depending on your tastes. There's very little musical numbers, and only the last one is any good. They've changed the lore and backstories of many ponies. They don't go on epic journeys or fights; and I'm sorry writers, but having the ponies be self-aware about it isn't going to make up for it. It's almost amazing how the writers understand the source material half the time, then don't understand it at all the other half. They result to making new characters no one asked for when they're out of story ideas. More than half the lessons seem to be the same; that nothing matters unless you do it with your friends. And I hate that some things are not defined. I know they drink potions to gain new abilities, but each pony has a regular power that they keep coming back to, and I have no idea if that's because of the potions or not. Fluttershy can grow and shrink, Twilight can shatter into pieces and then become whole again, and for the love of Celestia... WOULD YOU STOP EXPLODING INTO CONFETTI, PINKIE?!
Over all, I don't think this show was made for us. It was made just for the sake of being cute. It was made for toddlers. It was made for people with 2-second attention spans. It was made for people who like reboots like Teen Titans Go. It was made as a filler between G4 and G5. But speaking of...
I saw something related to Pony Life. It wasn't episodes, but it was a series of specials.
SpoilerActually, the specials were just a series of stop-motion commercials to promote the Pony Life toys, made with the toys themselves. And I have to say... I actually like these shorts better!
I've seen these commercials before, I just didn't realize that Wikipedia lists them as specials. But revisiting these commercials was actually WAY better than Pony Life itself! For one thing, the background assets come from the main G4 cartoon. The characters act more like themselves instead of whatever they are suppose to be in Pony Life. What they can do with or without potions is a bit more consistent. It's mostly silent too, so the stories work way better. Sure the resolution is rushed in each one, and the constant laughter or filler sounds get annoying, but they are just commercials after all. I'm surprised they managed to get any kind of story in there at all! These are way more worth your time than Pony Life.
That's all for now. G5, here I come~!
Take care for now, my crowd.

Fair enough.
I'm watching it first thing tomorrow.
I knew that, and loved it.
Twilight also made a Pinkie & The Brain reference in one of the final episodes.
Good to know. Without seeing spoilers, I've been seeing plenty of positive reactions!
