Hello there, my crowd! Welcome to my Weekly Musings: Red Edition.
[I ❤ JAPAN] -- [I ❤ THE COLOR RED] -- [I ❤ CELESTIA]
Feel free to leave a song request. Your song will eventually be featured in a future Weekly Musings entry!
Hey there, my crowd. How comfortable is your chair?
Lick. Let's review the week that just went by.
It's over, my crowd. The chair saga is over, with both good and somewhat disappointing news. To recap, my new desk chair was not extending as high as I am use to. And so, I reached out twice to Wayfair, finally getting a response the 2nd time. This week, the replacement part arrived, the gas cylinder I needed. Removing the old one was ROUGH. I followed tutorials, but it was not coming off easily. Eventually, I had to get my uncle to help, and he figured it out. The NEW cylinder? It extends all the way up, but... The chair still doesn't sit super high.
Now HOLD ON! Don't go thinking this was all for nothing. The old cylinder could not extend all the way. This one can, so it was worth it just to install it. I just need to accept that this chair naturally sits low. MAYBE there is a different kind of gas cylinder out there that could raise my chair even higher. Maybe there are other solutions for me to consider. But for now, I want a break. I am done trying to get new cylinders and installing them. It's been too much work for not enough pay off.
In other news, I had neck pain for a few days, but it seems to be all cleared up now. Not sure what happened.
Part of me thinks I slept on it wrong, but usually that kind of pain doesn't last two or three days in a row. I think I just pinched a nerve or something. Either way, it is cleared up. Sometimes there is residual soreness, but for the most part, it's cleared up and there's nothing to worry about any more.
Revice 12: Snake in the Streets!
This show never ceases to surprise me how much genuine emotion it has. In another show, Sakura having a sad coming-to-terms moment with her own weaknesses would be glazed over really quickly or only given the minimum amount of emotion so they could get back to the story as fast as possible. Not here. They give it the gravitas it deserves. I love how different yet fitting Sakura's Deadman is, but I hope it's limited vocab doesn't get annoying. The cute snake reminds me of a certain Shocker villain... And of course, we get the premiere of Kamen Rider Jeanne. She's pretty awesome. I think that is easily the most feminine Rider suit I've seen in a long time, and they didn't even give her a skirt.
ReVice 13: I Can Bari Believe It!
NO ZENKAIGER THIS WEEK! I am taking a break since I don't want to watch the newest Zenkaiger episode as it comes out, I'd rather be a week behind unless I absolutely need to catch up. Instead, I'll be watching double the ReVice episodes. And what a heavy episode here! WOW! They talked about the negative impact of jail in this episode and left it open, but I wouldn't be surprised if they actually follow up on that later. Seeing Ikki/Revi make peace with Vice has been a long time coming, but it feels so earned here. We get to see why he didn't want to trust Vice, and best of all, coming to terms with Vice is what helps Revi unlock his new Super form. And BTW, this super form has WAY better color balancing than base form. Almost makes me wish they had saved Jeanne's new weapon debut for later; it kind of got over shadowed here. At least her Deadman partner is learning more words.
And now, it's... TOKUSATSU MOVIESPECIAL TIME!
This time, I'm watching ReVice The Mystery: Episode 1. Since I am doubling up on ReVice episodes this week, I decided to see this special too. Will the other parts be subbed? Who knows! Is this even canon? Can't tell! All I can say is I've heard about these Telasa specials, and this is quite the interesting introduction. It was definitely more than I expected! Kamen Rider alumni actors and an unexpected crossover. I almost wish there was no Next Episode preview, because it kind of ruins just how deep this will go. Also, the show tried to set up two suspects as the villains, but I think I've all ready figured out who the real villains are. So the REAL thing to look forward to is if these specials can continue to surprise me with story twists or not.
GRIDMAN!
Episode 7, you instantly lose credibility when the main villain is so superstitious and cowardly that you can trick him into acting irrationally. Also, the main heroes did something creepy and wrong, but at least they were willing to apologize and make up for it, so props to them! Episode 8, a flimsy excuse to see two monsters team up against Gridman, but it was bound to happen I guess. Episode 9, waste of a ninja monster, but it was fun to see a good old-fashioned episode about mind controlling a bunch of innocent people. Also, I oddly relate to the Khan's human partner, because I also strived to be the smartest in my school, but always ended up getting average grades at best. Episode 10, new assist vehicles! And even though this episode is played for laughs and education, I've actually lived through a situation without reliable tap water. It's no joke. Episode 11, using money to turn the economy upside down. However in this episode, it's another example of a great idea played for laughs instead of exploring its serious implications. Episode 12, the story here was pure comedy and kind of predictable, but at least it had the premiere of God Zenon! These premieres are starting to stack up pretty fast, and I wonder what that transforming toy is suppose to be...
That's all for now, my crowd.
Take care, and work hard.
I know, I'm a little late sharing this, but I had so many things in the cue ahead of it! As we get through the pandemic, never knowing when things might shut down yet again, we need as many things to help us get through these tough times as possible. So when I see The Hoff in a fun rock/metal empowerment song? Absolutely YES! This is "Through the Night (Official Music Video)" by CueStack feat. David Hasselhoff.
