Hello there, my crowd! Welcome to my Weekly Musings: Red Edition.
[I ❤ JAPAN] -- [I ❤ THE COLOR RED] -- [I ❤ CELESTIA]
Feel free to leave a song request. Your song will eventually be featured in a future Weekly Musings entry!
I swear, I am not posting these late on purpose. The last time, I ran out of time. This time, I just genuinely forgot.
Forgive me, my crowd... With that, let's cover this week that just passed...
Can't say there was anything super big that happened last week. So I'll just make this into it's own bullet point: A preview of the 2D MLP G5 animated shorts dropped.
Reviews on the voices are mixed, reviews on the animation are mostly negative. While I did like the voices for the most part, I like how there is a rumor going around that these spin-off shorts might not be fully comedy focused after all. Not sure where anyone is getting this information, but it would be nice.
In other pop news... The Sonic movie dropped two different theme songs; one for English audiences and one for French audiences. The one for English audiences is more original, so I enjoy it just for that, but it's still no Crush 40. Hurricaneger's singer did a cover of Ninja Storm. A preview of Kamen Rider Black Sun dropped, and it's not bad, but Road Sector got the worst redesign. And if anyone is interested, did anyone see what Will Smith did at the Oscars? As an old fan of his, this made me want to step back and re-evaluate being his fan.
I don't usually follow celebrities. I like the music for the music. I like fiction for the stories and the experiences. Celebrities don't really matter that much to me. Will was the one exception. Then again, there is plenty of others to choose from...
NO SSSS!
I will try to watch the show this week to make up for lost time, maybe. I stopped so that I could watch something else this week, and I might do it again this week too...
[ 1 / 2 ] MOVIE TIME! I recently saw Eternals. Going into this movie, I expected this to not be very good. I had all ready heard negative things, but I wanted to stay optimistic about it. In terms of premise and over all story, it doesn't do self-sabotage. It stays solid to itself. However, I cannot deny the fact that this movie is so painfully slow and boring. And when it's not boring, it's dialogue heavy or it overwhelms you with sci-fi exposition dumps. When you watch a MCU movie, you expect more. You expect charismatic characters that charm you. You expect a certain level of fun. You expect a story that is pretty easy to follow. Even if the Marvel movies are somewhat predictable or formulaic, this is not a good way to break the formula. You shouldn't break at all unless you can still be entertaining. There is also a twist near the end that I simply hated because I am kind of a Superman fan (and I don't even know if the similarities to the Justice League here are on purpose or not). They do wonderful in the visual effects department; DC could learn a thing or two from them, but that's about all they had in their favor. ...I don't know. I just feel like this movie came out at the wrong time. If it came out before the DCU or the MCU, if it came out perhaps in the early 2000's, I think people would be raving and loving this movie adamantly. Who knows, maybe this movie has its defenders. But for now, it's one of the few rare misses for the MCU.
[ 2 / 2 ] I also saw Shang-Chi. What a sweet action movie! I loved it so much. I don't know if this is the kind of Chinese/Asian movie I should be enjoying, but I sure did have fun. A great story, martial arts action with no bounds, nods to Chinese mythology while also making new stories, and everything getting resolved in the best way possible. Even one of the side villains that I actually like managed to get a character arc of his own, and I love it! Please give this movie a try. It's really hard to sell a Marvel movie after End Game, especially if it isn't staring one of the bigger, more iconic super heroes. That's why it's important to nail the story and make the movie as good as possible, and I feel this one succeeds in doing so. It even gave me a moment of introspection, so that should say something. This is a REALLY good time and worth your support. Next time... Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Spider-Man: No Way Home.
ReVice 24: All's Well?
It's such a joy to see the drama unfolding in this episode. It's constantly keeping you on your toes with who can and cannot be trusted, and I love it. But that ending is both hilarious and wonderful! We had a human with a ghostly demon partner; only having physical form in battle or when summoned. Then they switched places, becoming a demon with a ghostly human partner. And now thanks to George's miscalculation, they are fused! Part human, part demon. Two minds fighting for dominance, one body! How many different variations of this are they going to do before the show is over? I can't wait! ...No, really, I can't! Which is why I am going to be doing two episodes a week from now on until I can get caught up. So without further ado...
ReVice 25: Drama Stamp!
I am beside myself. They packed SO much story into that episode, especially the later half, and I love it! Some might prefer to thin these discoveries out little by little as the show goes on, but I love a dramatic story bomb like this. We get confirmation that the leader of the Weekend is George's father (as if we didn't know). We learned the new guy running Fenix is definitely in league with Olteca in an interesting way. Somehow I just knew we might be seeing one or both of the parents become a Kamen Rider, but Vail's debut was still out of this world. And to think, the Igarashi siblings are slightly related to Lord Giff thanks their father who was infused with Giff DNA at a younger age. If ALL of that wasn't enough, Giff is waking up... This just makes me want to watch more now! And what sweet joy, I just learned Vail has a solo special out. Won't be long before I catch up to that too.
DonBrothers 03: Stolen Glory!
Stealing lights and delivering darkness is a very loose connection to the LupinRangers, but I guess it was good enough for this episode. Ultimately, it doesn't matter how it was handled, because everything else about this episode is gold. It was hilarious seeing Oni Sister fail to see that Momoi Taro was right there before him this whole time. It was so bone chilling to not only see a new general, but she killed a human right out the bat. Part of me hopes the villains continue to get some victories, making it a constantly tipping scale on who's winning and who isn't. We sometimes here about villains who did things we never saw, but it might be cool to see Sentai going a little darker and having a much tougher set of villains. Oni Sister finally pledged loyalty to Momo, but he responded with a kick?! What was that all about?! Now I have even more motivation to see what's next!
That's all for now, my crowd.
Take care, and take flight.
It's been a while since I shared a mashup, hasn't it? Well here's a fun one. It's a combination of Aerosmith's "Sweet Emotion" and ABBA's "Dancing Queen". This is "Abbasmith - Sweet Emotion Queen" by Ray C Mashups.

@TomDaBombMLP I'm happy to know someone is reading them.
The forum seems so quiet lately...

@Samurai Equine I know.
I think it's probably because of the lack of new MLP material to keep people invested in that's the problem.
I know there's all that upcoming G5 stuff but promotion for it has been virtually null and all the stuff that we know about has been very divisive.
I myself definitely won't be watching that 2D show, I will watch the 3D one but I just wish there was some kind of trailer or preview to get us excited.
At least something that will lure some people back and get them talking again.
