Hello there, my crowd! Welcome to my Weekly Musings: Red Edition.
[I ❤ JAPAN] -- [I ❤ THE COLOR RED] -- [I ❤ CELESTIA]
Feel free to leave a song request. Your song will eventually be featured in a future Weekly Musings entry!
I swear, I have a reason for being late again, my crowd.
Please here me out~
For the most part, last week was pretty chill for me. Got some things done, had some fun. The main reason why this update is late is because I was helping my uncle move some car parts around on Sunday (and nearly cut myself doing so). Doing that cut into my free time, and I wasn't able to finish everything I wanted to do in time. I was happy to help, but sometimes helping others means changing my schedule around.
There's been a lot of tokusatsu announcements, mostly for Kamen Rider. A lot of specials and crossovers. I guess Toei's online exclusive club is doing so well that they decided to keep making tons of specials instead of that just being a COVID-necessary thing.
Yay? Good time to be a fan, I guess. I am mostly excited about the Faiz 20th Anniversary movie coming up! While the suit I am not completely sold on, I can't wait to see it! Also, I saw a movie recently~
I recently tried Ghost (The Sour Patch Kids energy drink) Blue Raspberry flavor and Prime Hydration Ice Pop flavor. Ghost really did taste like blue Sour Patch Kids turned into an energy drink. Didn't experience any negative effects, the energy boost was light. Prime was interesting. If it wasn't for the little bit of Sodium for the sake of hydration or electrolytes, whatever it's there for, it really would taste like an Ice Pop. I would buy it over Gatorade if it wasn't for the fact that Gatorade actually hydrates better, and Prime gave me this subtle feeling of uneasiness. Maybe if I was a hard-working athlete, it would do more for me.
MOVIE TIME! I recently saw the 3rd Ant-Man movie, Quantumania! Honestly, I loved this movie! It was so awesome. There were moments where it looked like they were going to rip apart Ant-Man's new family with lots of drama, but they managed to stick the landing in a very wholesome way, and set up other things for the future of the MCU. They even did it without completely getting rid of Kang. Why are people not liking this movie exactly? The version of Modok they made? I admit it doesn't look super accurate to the comics, and I think the CGI was always going to look weird no matter how you made him, but I still think this was a great movie. I hope it was very successful in spite of whatever criticisms are circulating about this movie. Next time, probably more He-Man, or I might see the newest Dungeons and Dragons movie, if I feel so inclined~
TOKUSATSU MOVIE TIME!
Kamen Rider Geats x ReVice Movie: Battle Royale! I liked this movie, though it was not perfect. I think the major flaw I have with this crossover movie is the ending. I won't spoil how it went, I'll just say it could have been done differently so that it's even happier than what we got. However, I guess it's not the worst. If the impossible can be broken once, then why not again? It felt a little heavy handed with the Mirror World Riders being there, especially since they don't fully explain why. They elude to it, but never explain why they got mixed up in Geats' DGP. Oh sure, the grand prix meshes well with Ryuki's battle royale, but some additional explanation would have been nice. Still, I'll look the other way for now because we got a nice trade out of it; the Mirror World Riders having a shared moment with their counterparts from the GDP. Even Tycoon and Ryuki have a sweet eye-to-eye moment at the end. Perhaps if the opening part of the movie was handled differently, we could have gotten some better narrative plot points flushed out. But they wanted to give each Rider their own moment to shine, so I can't fault them. All in all, it was a great movie. Not perfect, but still great in many other ways.
Netflix He-Man S2: Going Even Bigger!
Despite being two episodes shorter than the last season, this one still manages to keep you on the edge of your seat. In a short time, these characters have come so far, and it all comes to a head with an epic final battle and a season finale I could have never predicted. Where the previous season finale had hope to build on, this one has an even greater evil to build on. While I have a good idea of what is up next, I really wish the show would stop trying to make Adam and Krass an item.
Geats 33: The Bell Tolls For Who?!
This episode proves why you don't sleep on Geats. Buffa is here doing his Terminator thing, striking down Riders and crushing their Core IDs before they even have a chance to do much. The reality of his wish is on full display, but just when you think he's become a heartless hunter, he shows the admins why he's doing this. Turns out he realizing that it doesn't matter whose side your own, the Grand Prix is a monster that feeds on itself, and he wants to shut it down for good. We learn this while seeing how badly Tsumuri was being treated; I almost expected her to become a Rider and rebel against the system, but then Geats shows up literally out of thin air! But whose side is he on?! Who is he after?! Now this is the best kind of cliffhanger!
King-Oh 09: Getting Carried Away~
Well, I guess I no longer have to worry about Black being the only backstabber on this show, because ALL of them betrayed each other to control Gira/Red! But after a pep talk that give the underlings a moment of self-reflection, Red's back in action and with the new God Hopper! No doubt Racles is going to notice that. Speaking of, did Racles purposely avoiding striking a fatal bow...?
That's all for now, my crowd.
Take care, and check out the highlights.
I forget where I heard this. Maybe a video about international heavy metal songs? This doesn't sound like metal to me, but it sounds cool. I like it. This "Omnos" by Eluveitie.
