After all this time, I'm still not brave enough to wear a t-shirt that says "BRONY" or has a super obvious picture of any of the ponies. I like things that are abstract. Things that you wouldn't know it's from MLP at first glance. Like maybe a t-shirt or a hat that just has someone's cutie mark on it. I like Celestia's and Sunset Shimmer's the best!
Those just look like awesome sun symbols!
No one would be able to call me out for wearing MLP clothing unless they themselves knew about it, which would make them a brony as well. Probably a closet brony.
Heck, this was my wallpaper image for the last two months or so:
Isn't that beautiful? At least two other people saw it and didn't even realize it was an image of a pony.

I feel the same way too, my friend.
For some time, I was using an Autumn Blaze wallpaper (this one) on my laptop that I take to school, similar to your Celestia one. Unfortunately for me though, two people who saw it could recognise it was My Little Pony (though I'm quite certain they are not bronies). 
I had to somehow make an excuse on the spot for my MLP wallpaper. Just like you said, I thought people wouldn't recognise it was MLP. Sadly, to avoid the risk in the future, I changed it back to the default wallpaper. 
(Though now that I've finished school, I've changed it back. 
)
Likewise, I feel to shy to express my love for MLP out into the public. I'm only comfortable doing so at home, even with my family around.
