I'm getting tired of seeing friends that I like on this forum just give in to their own sorrows and self doubt, and then just leave like there's no reason to be here. And I'd tag them right now to show that I care, but that might just make things worse, so now I don't know what else to do except make a status update and vent out all these feelings that I can't do anything with! 

Forget it. These emoticons aren't helping me at all. If anything, they're actually deflating the situation. All I can say is, this song is very close to how I feel about the friends I either can't reach or can't help. (Minus a few specific lyrics that don't quite fit.)
