Seems a little backwards, if you ask me. I use to have depression a long time ago. The real kind; the kind that made you suicidal. It's been so long, and I'm not that person anymore. So maybe I'm out of touch, but isn't the goal to overcome that depression or not let it be the driving force in your life any more? It's okay to be happy sometimes. You aren't lying to anyone if you have a happy day every once in a while. That's the goal, and I'd assume anyone who is your friend would want you to have that kind of happiness in your life. If not, then I'm not sure I could call them a real friend. Having depression is one thing, but no one should be judged for wanting more out of their life then that.
Maybe I can't help. I'm not a doctor nor a therapist, and many people experience depression in different ways. But if you ever need to vent, need a hug, or just need someone to talk to... Don't hesitate to reach out to me.
