  1. @GeneralDirection Denki reads some of the plaques. "Hard to tell, but scientists and historians believe it was 800 PEE, according to your western calendar." (PEE = Pre-Equestrian Era, the show's version of BC or BCE). There are other civilian ponies taking the tour, of course. Some have bought audio cassettes to listen to on their headphones. They soon reach the first core of the mine. This rounded off room is much larger than the series of corridors. At the center is a statue of some random ponies dressed in rather ancient garb made mostly from leaves, sticks, and other things found in nature. "These are the founders that first settled in this region. They were planning to leave, if they believed this region wasn't suitable for living in. Finding this mine turned all that around." Ryugane explains.
  2. @PawelS, @Skylight Scintillate, @abrony-mouse, @Kujamih Samurai hears Dr. Clue's plan and nods. "I'll meet you down there, hopefully. If not, I'll create a good distraction." Samurai backs up a good ways to get a good running start and gets his fire magic ready. With enough focus, the flames will come out of his hooves to temporarily jet propel him. There are some flaws, though. Once in flight, he is locked into one direction. He cannot control his speed. And if he's not careful, he could easily crash land. Still, he wants to give it a try. "Flaming Booster." So he runs forward, leaps in the right direction, and magically turns his hooves into fiery rockets for a quick but powerful blast. (Roll for fire power and anything else that applies)

Happy Birthday, my friend. I hope you are happy, wherever you are. :coco:

  4. I made a new signature. Is it annoying to look at? I never know with these animated signatures.
  5. @GeneralDirection "I think I'll slip out here. I should be back when the tour is finished. See you all later. Excuse me." Samurai politely says and bows before teleporting away. Ryugane pays for admission for the tour. Inside, the mine has been made safe for tourists. The floor is concrete. There is safety rails. The walls are smoothed over with mental frame supports. And while the walls are mostly rock, you can occasionally see sparkles shining off the walls, each sparkle a different color. "Do you like it? They say you can still see traces of metal ore on these old mine walls. This mine is where they not only found precious metals, but it's also where Japone's first source of commerce was found. Silver mostly. Some gold, some gems, and other things like that. More importantly, with all the metal deposits, the early settlers were able to build homes and many other things." Ryugane explains. Occasionally, you can see plaques behind the rails, no doubt giving history lessons. But they are written in Japonies, so Silver will have to rely on his new friends to be translators.

Hi there, my crowd! How goes it? :squee:

I had a pretty good day, all things considered. Ate out at a nice restaurant. Tried to find some nice clothes, but couldn't find anything. I am beginning to lose hope on finding a store that I like. But I was able to find a replacement for my work hat, which broke earlier this week. I also got a Google Chromecast. I don't know what all it can do, and I don't need all the features. Being able to cast stuff from my computer to my TV is good enough for me! And I got another flashdrive, because you can never have too many of those.

Got home, found out the donations I made to Make Christmas Merrier and Gallery of Goodwill had been blocked. Had to call the bank and get that matter settled. That was annoying. :mlp_wat:

And now I am thinking of getting a tokusatsu DVD or BlURAY. Just not sure which one to get... :worry: I had my heart set on AbaRanger, but that's not out yet; preorder only. I can get it cheaper in the after-market. I suppose I could get Kamen Rider Kuuga or Zero-One... Then again, there are some nice Ultraman titles up for REALLY affordable prices. Maybe there is a different toku title I should consider? Hmm...

Still, good weekend was good. :proud:

    Take care, my crowd. B)

And now, the results of Tuesday's game!
    What was the correct lyric?!

    C. And the sound that we hear in our hearts

    Let’s check the PDM Leaderboard:

    1. @Rising Dusk - 462,484
    2. @Astral Soul - 190,769
    3. @Sparklefan1234 - 24,114
    4. @Stone Cold Steve Jobs - 375

Have y'all heard the good word of Nanalestia? :sunbutt: 2 more rounds left to go! There's still time to turn this game around in a different direction. Or just participate in fun if you want, since that's the whole point of all this! :muffins:

    Take care, my crowd. B)

  8. @GeneralDirection Ryugane slows to a stop and he points it out. "That mine over there? That's the Iwami Mine. When this region of Japone was settled, this was the first discovery made. It was a mine that contains silver and the largest deposits of metal ore in the Japone. Many say that mine is the reason why so many ponies started living in Iwami in the first place. Would you like to take the tour? Nopony uses the mine anymore. Now it's open just for fun; almost like a history museum of sorts." Ryugane says.
  9. @GeneralDirection Samurai is a little saddened that he won't get to do his favorite song with his fellow samurai again. Later, as they travel through a more populated part of the region together, the difference is quite clear. Other samurai might be warm and welcoming, but Ryugane clearly commands respect. Without even saying anything, many get out of his way or bow in his presence. Only trouble causers would dare do otherwise. Not that Ryugane is saying anything mean or doing anything wrong, he just has a naturally cold presence. Still, there are some sights to see. A lake with a metal tori gate. A mine turned into a tourist attraction. A robot restaurant? There are some great places to go to kill some time! Any of these stand out to Silver?

      You're welcome!

Usually, I send friend requests to people who have something in common with me. For exemple, since we both like Derpy Hooves, I've decided to send you a friend request!

From the looks of your profile, you also seem to be very friendly!

...There are people who don't like Derpy?! :BornAgainBrony: Blasphemy!

Thank you! I do try to be as nice and as friendly as possible. :squee: Maybe we have more in common than we think.

    3. LCpony417

      LCpony417

Of course there are people who don't like Derpy. After all, not everyone can like the same things. But in my opinion, Derpy is the best!

And yes, maybe we do have more in common than it seems!

  11. @GeneralDirection Samurai smiles. "It's fine with me. I may teleport out sometime to check on my region, but I'll be back before you know it." Samurai explains. "And I cleared my schedule to be here, so I have time to spare." Denki says. "Then let's get going." Ryugane says and starts to lead the way. "Oh, could we do karaoke again? It's been a while since we performed Dancing Samurai together. Last time, it was just--", "No." Ryugane shoots down Samurai's request.

  15. @GeneralDirection Ryugane shakes his hoof. "Samurai sure knows how to pick his friends." Ryugane comments. Samurai joins them. "Thanks! And you showed some real restraint, Ryugane. You could have done this on one of your televised fighting matches in front of a crowd." Samurai says. "I could have... But the crowd would have wanted a fight to the finish, and I wasn't sure Silver-san was ready for that kind of performance." Ryugane explains. This part of Japone sure is gloomy. Still dark clouds that can make you swear it's night time, when it's really not. An industrial look and smell in most directions. You'd almost swear that this might be a good place for a video game boss or something. "...I've got nothing. I'm just here for the ride. Though I feel like we should move on." Denki says. "Hmm... I suppose we could do more sight seeing. Catch a show. Help out at one of the metal factories... I think the Firefly Festival is later tonight, if you are willing to stick around 'til nightfall."

🎵 Friends, you are in my life

And when the music comes alive
We sing our songs to lift us up so we can shine

    A. Shine like rainbows
    B. And the light that ignites in the dark
    C. And the sound that we hear in our hearts
    D. As the rain begins to fall

The holidays are over, so let's back into the game!

  17. @GeneralDirection Ryugane nods and then extends his hoof to Silver. "Those who stand for nothing, fall for nothing; and I don't respect those who value nothing. As long as you have something worth defending, I'll always have respect for you. Silver-san." Ryugane says. And as Samurai Equine explained, the samurai warriors don't use honorifics unless they respect and properly acknowledge you.
  18. @PawelS, @Skylight Scintillate, @abrony-mouse, @Kujamih Samurai has nothing more to add for now. He just follows Mango and Dr. Clue to the cliffs. If his fire magic can be of use in any way, he'll use it. For now, he is just curious if this will give them any new leads.

2023, you better be good. I've got my eyes on you. 638534.png Shall we go over the week just passed, my crowd?

bmc.png.dead4df5641294b1d1c51b1da6cdaeeb.png So the biggest thing that happened this week was... NEW YEARS!! :balloon: It's 2023. On New Years Eve, I had a nice glass of ginger beer and some grapes. Didn't make my custom drink like I usually do, just didn't feel like it this year. Maybe next time. On New Years Day, I got together with my family and had a wonderful meal. Tons of left-over food~ Keep reading, I'll get into my resolution down below.

cel.png.932df6a068796c2120797b896cfae033.png In other good news, I managed to replace those clothes I got for Christmas. :muffins: I got a very trendy jacket instead of a shirt, and some awesome brown pants! I have accepted that I may never find a pair of red pants ever again... I was going to buy a tokusatsu DVD or BluRay boxset, but I had to pay a little extra to cover the jacket, so I decided to hold off for now. SOON! Just not right now.

bmc.png.dead4df5641294b1d1c51b1da6cdaeeb.png NO TOKUSATSU THIS WEEK! osnb5Gt.png ypGkU4g.png Hope you all enjoyed the holidays this year.

cel.png.932df6a068796c2120797b896cfae033.png One last holiday movie before December and 2022 ended... It's MOVE TIME! dawswur-b623def6-6fd1-44ef-94bc-ee3a54bc I started it at the beginning of December, finished it at the end. I saw Mister Scrooge To See You. This movie was so unbelievably CRINGE, that I could barely keep myself from watching it one sitting. I had to walk away and come back so many times. Now I am all for a story that tells us what happens to Scrooge after the iconic Christmas Carol movie; but that's not what we got here. I am all for telling the story in a modern way, but they didn't fully achieve that. In fact, this movie was so split in its focus, it couldn't achieve hardly ANYTHING correctly! There's no reason for people in the modern era to haphazardly switch between lines from the classic story and modern dialogue. The movie can't decide if modern businesses do or do not run similarly to Victorian era businesses. It wants to pretend that the Christmas Carol is historical, yet it can't even get its continuity correct. The production quality is bad. Characters preach lessons that the modern Scrooge character should learn. The biggest problem in the movie could have been EASILY avoided! There is a twist ending that WOULD be good if they had actually set it up properly! The only thing that they did correctly is make Scrooge look like a person who was believably robbed from one timeline and placed into our modern timeline

But I could forgive all of it if the movie could please just explain WHY they needed to make Scrooge a time traveler to see his modern day, greedy descendant. Why not wait til he's also a spirit? Or better yet, why not use the 3 Christmas spirits since they are apparently real and referenced quite a lot by Scrooge himself? Well, they finally do start to use the Christmas spirits, and the movie completely drops the ball all together. Seriously, the Scrooge descendant look at a spirit for TWO WHOLE seconds, and suddenly he wants to change at the drop of a hat! REALLY?! That's all it took?! Two whole seconds? Not even a single introspective look at the life you've been living? Still, I was confused. People were calling this movie great, and I had no idea why... Until the end. After the descendant swore to change, he and Scrooge find themselves in a Church, talking to a pastor. ...IT'S A CHRISTIAN MOVIE! qmA99Ps.png This was made for the religious crowd that wanted stronger Christian overtones in their Christmas story. Sorry, but I prefer undertones, thank you very much. In a funny note, there is a vocal song used half-way through the movie that is completely removed for the YouTube release, replaced with awkward silence. I guess I'm just sad because the elements for a great story were here. With the right focus and direction, this could have been great. At this point, just watch Scrooged (1988). You won't lose as many brain cells.

AND NOW, MY THOUGHTS & REFLECTIONS ON 2022.

bmc.png.dead4df5641294b1d1c51b1da6cdaeeb.png I won't divide this into negative and positive points. I'm going to keep this personal rather than try to cover everything, cause I know I'll miss some things...

    • In some ways, this was the hardest year. My grandfather-in-law died, not to mention there were some other relevant deaths close to my family. My grandmother and aunt may have died years before, but when my grandfather-in-law passed, his house was cleared out and his possessions cleared away. With his house on sale, its like all these deaths were made more official than ever. Our family has loss looming over us and we never stopped feeling that loss.
    • This was the year I (mostly) stopped watching MLP G5. I may come back if something major happens, but I saw enough material to know that it just doesn't have the same charm as the previous generation...
    • I fell off Toonami and YouTube SUPER hard. I was almost up-to-date with all the content I follow on YouTube. However, things happened that made me fall behind on both things. I will EVENTUALLY get caught up on YouTube, but I am thinking of abandoning Toonami at this point. There's been rumors of WB wanting to drop Cartoon Network anyway, and that doesn't make things any better...
    • I had to get a new storm door. Installing it was a pain and a learning experience.
    • I got a new desk chair. Not completely happy with it. The back doesn't have a lot of padding. If I can adjust that, I'll be fine.
    • This was the year that I had to get a new SSD hard drive for my computer. Along the way, I lost the save files for two games I had been playing; Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Pearl. However, I made a promise, and now I am playing Pokémon Sun. Let's hope I don't lose this one.
    • I switched Internet providers. There's been up and downs with that. Can't say I'm fully happy, but it's give and take.
    • Still, there have been good things. I've seen some amazing, crazy trailers for movies and things, and I've seen some great movies this year too. Looking forward to a lot of things!
    • it's funny I mentioned Pokémon, because I was gifted some games I haven't even had a chance to play yet! But at least I was able to give some friends of mine some nice gifts.
    • It's been a huge year for Tokusatsu again! Zenkaiger ended, and DonBrothers began. ReVice ended, and Geats began. I saw Kamen Rider Black Sun, which may or may not be available on Amazon Prime internationally. (Not sure how it works.)
    • But more then that, the GREATEST news is that Shout Factory is back to releasing Super Sentai DVD boxsets! Still not enough! We've got other companies giving us things like Kamen Rider Black and Space Sheriff Gavan!
    • This year was also a good year for tokusatsu anime. Fuuto PI was released, and more anime titles based on Tokusatsu have been announced. So much to look forward to!
    • I know everyone is hyped about Super Mario's movie for better and worse; but this was the year where Sonic the Hedgehog was on top of the world again! Sonic the Movie 2 was a huge success, and we may be getting a TV series spin-off. Sonic Prime was released to much fan praise. And the biggest success, Sonic Frontier has people cheering for Sonic's successful transition into open-world gameplay.
    • I had snow TWICE this year! The first was at the beginning of the year, the other was before Christmas. The first one was not so fun, and the other barely stuck around at all. Still, it's enough for me to call it a white Christmas, which is just what I wanted.

    GOING FORWARD INTO 2023...

cel.png.932df6a068796c2120797b896cfae033.png Last year, my goal was to watch either Kamen Rider Kuuga or the original Gridman. Not only did I succeed in watching Gridman, I took the time to watch and compare it to that 90's American adaptation, Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad. I still want to see Kuuga, but that's something for the backburner. This year? I want to do something a bit more ambitious but doable. There are three Netflix shows I want to watch. I want to watch Sonic Prime, Wednesday Addams, and that CGI He-Man cartoon. There are other things I am keeping in mind, but for now, that's all I really want to do. Anything else is bonus. For the most part, I just want 2023 to be good. I want to rebuild. I want the next few years to be so good that I can say that this was NOT the worst decade of all time; just the first half.

That's all for now, my crowd. B) Take care, and let's open the door to the future together!

I like a good mashup, and I like a good remix. This is both. This is "Running in the 90's (& Knuckles)" by ElfeVGM.

  20. @GeneralDirection There is an obvious air of disappointment, but the rest of the samurai warriors take to the arena. "I agree. I was more than willing to teach Silver some things myself, but you've all ready taught him a lot." Samurai says. Ryugane smirks, but it feels more like a smile than a smirk. "Any creature that is willing to get in the ring to spar with me earns my deepest respect. But there is one thing I never figured out..." Ryugane looks around. "I fight for all this, Silver. My region of Japone is messed up, but it's not beyond hope. I fight so that one day, this part of Japone will be better, so that no little foal will have to get into street fights to live. What about you? If you were faced against an unreasonable evil or overwhelming odds, what would you fight for? What would turn a vagabond into a fighter? Family, love, justice?"

  23. @PawelS, @Skylight Scintillate, @abrony-mouse, @Kujamih Samurai pays the beggar some more bits. "Stay humble and honest." He follows Dr. Clue for now. "Sounds like as a good an idea as any. We have a description of the suspect, a simple symbol that they would recognize if they saw it, and a behavior pattern. Nervous... What could it mean? A guilty conscious? Fear of being caught? Or if time was a factor, maybe she was trying to act as fast as possible..."
  24. I realize that the later seasons were not as well written as fans have come to expect. And I harbor no delusion that FiM was perfect. However, the previous generation was able to take characters defined by one trait, characters that ran the risk of being one dimensional, and made them charmingly entertaining enough to carry a slice-of-life show. This new generation started out with characters that are all ready well-rounded, but they are in trouble of becoming dangerously generic, and I have not seen enough evidence that the writers know how to build these characters up a charming way. And I know FiM had many writers that didn't always communicate with each other, but the writers at least had a show bible to follow so that continuity and tone would at least be somewhat upheld. I wonder if G5 has their own show bible. I wonder if anyone from this new generation has read a single page of G4's show bible. I fear that the only reason why they tried to connect the two generations was to cash in on both audiences, but that only works if you're willing to follow through and actually make the connection in a rewarding way. Baiting the audience over and over isn't the same thing as doing something nice for fans of both generations. If anything, it only shows a lack of confidence in your brand new material.
