Hello there, my crowd! Welcome to my Weekly Musings: Red Edition.
[I ❤ JAPAN] -- [I ❤ THE COLOR RED] -- [I ❤ CELESTIA]
Feel free to leave a song request. Your song will eventually be featured in a future Weekly Musings entry!
I'm not Batman! ...I'm me.
Let's talk about the week we just finished, my crowd.
The biggest thing that happened to me this week? Hmm... Oddly enough lawn mower problems. I need to get some fresh gasoline, maybe some new more oil, and maybe a new spark plug. Also, I tried to switch over to Vexus, but they rescheduled when the agent is suppose to come out. Hopefully Monday this time.
Man, is it normal for Disney to release a bunch of trailers back to back, or is this just a new thing? I'm surprised they are still making National Treasure titles. If Tim is returning for the The Santa Clauses, let it be known there is no franchise he won't return to. Werewolf By Night, a Marvel movie without Marvel superheroes, and it legit looks like an old time black and white movie? I might just see that! I'm torn with Secret Invasion... I might actually have to catch up to these Marvel side stories, I wish it were a movie so we could get the Avengers in on it, but at least Nick Fury is getting some solo-focus! 2nd season of Mandalorian is kind of making me want to see this now. Still not stocked for Andor, but I might see it anyways. Tales Of The Jedi? YES! I would love to see Duku's origin story, might even be my jumping-on point to give Clone Wars a chance. Can't believe they are going ahead with their race-bent live action version of Little Mermaid, but she can sing, so I guess that explains things. I'd need to see the original before I see Hocus Pocus 2, and I'm still on the fence about that. However, I did see Enchanted, so I might check out Disenchanted.
Oh hey, the forum if fixed! No more Status Update glitch!
Now to go back to my weekly game thing... Uhh... Now what?
This was also a good week for music drops! Mostly new Sonic music. Some have all ready been released in full, others not so much. Still hyped, though~!
I am currently trying to reprogram a lot of the programs/apps on my computer. They've been posting temp and appdata files on my C drive, and I need to teach them to save that stuff on my F drive....
Moving Chrome and nearly all its files to the F drive gave me nearly a GB of free space~!
DonBrothers 27: Red VS Blue?
Sonoi and Momoi/Don Momotaro finally have a duel. Or at least they try, before the wildest battle royale breaks out! I guess if you were wondering if old monster hosts can get possessed again, the answer seems to be yet. The ninja guy has now become all about magic, and thus the MOTW is based on MagiRanger, but that's the only connection they share. Momoi and Sonoi have a break to drop some lore, but it doesn't explain why the Cerebrans are okay with killing humans, and leaves me wanting to know more about the Don clan. And even though Sonoi lost the duel, it doesn't look like this will be the last we see of him.
Geats 01: Flip A Coin & Press Start.
So here we are, the start of a new show. After what I watched, I almost wonder if Geats will be the next one to appear in Fortnite. Seems the normal world and its citizens have no idea that they are locked in a game with monsters, and when the game is finished, everything resets back to normal. Or does it? Could it be that there are permanent casualties that the world is unaware of? Is Geats truly the hero, or is this really the rise of Keiwa's story? So many questions. All I can say is, I currently have no instant attachment to these characters. Geats is too full of himself, even if his Rider gear and attacks are the coolest. I don't want to get attached to Keiwa just yet since I don't know how much of this show will be his story. If you just want action and characters that act too cool for school, this is for you. However, since I link interest stories and characters, this first episode does not grab me right away. Maybe the next episodes will be better.
So right now, there is a fansub war to see who will be the frequent subber of Kamen Rider Geats. To my surprise, out of all the unknowns that I'm not super familiar with, EXCITE! and Genmcorp have thrown their hats into the ring. However, I have no high hopes for Genmcorp anymore, so I will be using EXCITE! for the time being. It's good to see them back in the game, and I hope it stays that way 'til the end.
MLP TYT 25: In Memory of a Pink Pony.
Interesting episode. It's good, just doesn't go anywhere. The ponies try to throw different parties for Sunny and come to the obvious conclusion; one big combined party. While there is nothing outwardly wrong about the episode, it just didn't impress me. The new song was dull. Hooftag is better than Hashtag, I guess? Seems a little forced. And I'm sorry Izzy, but your Glitter Cannon needs work before it can compete with Pinkie's Party Cannon. Still, Pinkie would be proud. Also, this episode pretty much confirmed that the MLP Official channel is screwing up the episode order. I can forgive mislabeling the first 3, but now, who knows what the correct order is.
That's all for now, my crowd.
Take care, and step into the battlefield.
Here's an old 90's classic. Either you will like this or you will be annoyed by it. It's a little repetitive. This is "Gypsy Woman" by Crystal Waters. La da dee la da dau~

Okay, so, I'm still learning.

Either I don't know how to properly change my Follow settings, or some bugs are still around. Either way, I forget how to edit my settings so that I am alerted of Status Updates and Status Replies, but not regular forum posts that my friends are posting. I may need to either look around the forum or ask someone about it. Maybe @Rikifive or @Jeric?To all my followers and everyone following me, sorry if I didn't reply to your most recent status updates. I just didn't get the notifications this time. This is what I get for trying to change my setting by myself. But it won't happen again.
Promise.
My day today was kind of a wash, but hopefully the next few days will be fun and rewarding.
SpoilerIs anyone interested in Disney? Three trailers released side by side. Disenchanted, Hocus Pocus 2, and live action Little Mermaid. Oddly enough, Disenchanted is the only one that interests me right now. MAYBE I'll check out Hocus Pocus some day...
SpoilerAlso, forgot to share this song yesterday. It's only a preview, but based on what I've heard, I think I'll enjoy Merry Kirk-Holmes' solo work more than the songs by To Octavia. Great band name, but I don't care for screamo music.

Huh...
So...
Status updates are back.
I wonder if traffic will return here now. I wonder how many people left the forum while the glitch was around. I wonder if it will mess things up if I try to return my Notification settings to normal.
More importantly, I wonder if I should go back to posting something every day like I use to. This week would not count, but I could ease into it, I guess?
Hmm... Let's share music!

Really? They do?
Also, I remember that song!
Blame Sonic the Hedgehog for that. SEGA is finally embracing their Japanese musicians for Sonic games.
But I may look into more of their stuff after this.

Would you hug me? I'd hug me.
Let's talk about the week we just finished, my crowd!
I had a really big, happy day on Friday. I got to go to Starbucks clone, get a haircut, get some new hand lotion that smells amazing, and even try some new foods!
But most of all, I have set things in motion to switch Phone/Internet/Cable services. Things are not looking as cheap as I thought, so I may have to settle for a downgrade in Internet speed. I'm not sure. Point is, things are in motion, and I'm a little nervouscited!
But there have been some bits of bad news here and there.
Another family member passed away. It was a distant family member, not someone I'm super close to or anything, but it's still sad to hear. Also, my hair is thinning in the back. 👀 ...Okay. I mean, it's not really in a spot where you can tell, and it's not thinning by a HUGE amount. Even I wasn't aware when the stylist told me. So I'll probably forget. But if it does become a bigger thing when I get older, I'll have to look into clinical hair treatments. I don't want to gain a big bald spot on my head like my uncle.
Let's talk about the foods I tried!
I got this Smores flavored drink at the coffee shop. It was good! I may go back there sometime since they have Pumpkin Spice now. I also tried Albanese brand Sour Gummy Bears. Y'all, this hits different. It's not just sour crystals on the outside, they have sour flavor baked into the gummies, so it's sour through-and-through. I swear, Grape was the most sour thing. Speaking of, they put TONS of different flavors in one bag. Last of all, the gummies are not super firm, they are jiggly and fun to eat. If you can ever splurge an extra dollar or so, pick these up, you will not be disappointed! Last of all, I got to try Mexican street corn. It was so good~! I don't usually have corn, not a fan of it, but I'd go back to this any time!
On Saturday, there was some kind of holiday, and there were many theaters in America that were selling movie tickets for $3 only. While my mother and I did plan to go, we ultimately skipped. We realized there was no movie we were dying to see; and that we'd be going just to go. Holiday aside, they must have purposefully picked a good time for this, because there's no blockbuster hit movies out right now! If they had done this in the summer or winter, the lines/waiting time would be a mile long! But it's fine. No big loss for us. Just gave us more time to do other, important things. For me, I have more time to catch up on all the anime I missed, and I am making some good progress.
Attack on Titan was disappointing, Shenmue was pretty good, and I am still enjoying Yashahime quite a lot!
ReVice 49: A Drawn Out Goodbye.
This is it. The final moments. It's a delay of the inevitable. It's interesting, though. Just like ReVice has done so many times before, it did things I predicted, but also did other things that I didn't predict. Before this episode, I predicted Ikki and Vice might leave, relying only on each other and whatever the future holds. They did leave, I just wasn't expecting them to actually inform their family, let alone did I expect to see Ikki job hunting. I expected to see Vice pretend to be a villain to reverse the effects of Ikki's memory loss, but he isn't trying to kill himself, he's just trying to make their contract null and void. I almost wish they didn't drag this out to one last episode...
ReVice 50: Conquering Your Vice!
It's an ending that is done beautifully and also kind of cold. We have a final send off moment, but instead of fighting a final boss at base form, the base form and basic upgrades are used for one last moment of fun between Ikki/Revi and Vice before they have to say goodbye. Ikki sure has made a huge family. In the end, Ikki gets what he always wanted, a happy ending where everyone can smile and relax at the bathhouse, and maybe he has inherited a little of Vice's spirit after all. But unlike other shows that try to end on a hopeful message, they don't try to bring Vice back or even hint at it. They show us how there are no photos of Vice, no hint of his ghost, and no clues that he might return after all. We get many things, but not that. It's sad knowing that his brother and sister get to keep their demons, but as the show says, there is nothing wrong with either of these scenarios. Just means you're at different parts of your life. Some are growing, some have grown up, but we all need to make peace with our inner demons and live the fullest life we can.
So, my final thoughts on the TV series Kamen Rider ReVice... I loved this show. From Zero One, to Saber, and now ReVice. I am happy to see that the first three shows of the Reiwa era have only been getting better and better! ReVice ended up being many things; a fun ride, a tale of suspense, tragedy and hope, a collection of many surprise plot twists, a story about self-discovery and making peace with who you are, and a coming of age story at the end. Truly this series has something for everyone, and it does so in such a sincere way that it tugs at the heart strings episode after episode. Some may compare Ikki/Revi and Vice's dynamic to that of Ryuta and the Imagins from Kamen Rider Den-O. It's been too long and I saw Den-O under a less-than-favorable translation, but I honestly don't think it's fair to compare. I've seen people who love Den-O end up hating ReVice, so the same is probably true the opposite way. If you hated Den-O, you might like ReVice instead. I like it because it gave me the story and character development I wanted to see when I was watching Den-O. Not that I want to imply one show is inferior, they did different things. I am just saying that for me, this brought things to an even more personal and sentimental level that I had always been looking for. No offense to Den-O and it's success, but I'd rather have 1 Vice than a bunch of Imagins any day. This show was great. I loved it from beginning to end; and I was afraid I might not. The only problem is that this sets a high bar of expectation for what's next. Good luck, Geats.
Sadly, I won't be watching Geats right away.
Sadly, just like with ReVice when it began, there is now a sub war going on in the fansub community to see who will sub Kamen Rider Geats and who will stick with it. So far, only 3 groups have stepped up to sub the first episode, and I have reservations about all of them. I wish Over-Time, the best in the community, would step up and sub it, but they may be done with Kamen Rider. I have my 2nd choice picks, but we'll have to see what happens in the coming weeks. May the best fansub group win.
DonBrothers 26: Don Bother.
Yawn. A recap episode, and they don't even advance the story, they just play it up for jokes. Lame. Skip this episode; it's not worth watching.
MLP TYT 26: Pup & Stuff.
Not much to say here. Dog goes missing, and everyone comes together to find it. Solid filler episode. Nothing super exciting happens, but there's no bad writing or immersion-breaking either. Surprised that dog is still alive after eating soap; so I am guessing this magical creature is just built different. It almost made Hitch look dumb, but I think it was just a brain-fart moment for him. Even the episode itself tries to paint it as such. However, Zipp shows that she really does have detective skills through and through. And Pipp manages to really show the benefits of an online following! Way to go, ladies.
hat's all for now, my crowd.
Take care, and check your wires.
Ever wanted to know more about vintage anime giant robots? Ever wanted societal context for the super robots, real robots, and so on? Something that is balanced and well researched? Well here is the perfect video for you! I certainly appreciated learning about this stuff. This is "The REAL History of 70s SUPER Robots" by MercuryFalcon.
