My friends are the friendliest friends. 

I am thinking about getting some USB extension cords. My smart TV has a USB port on the back, but it's under some other cords, and I'm afraid of knocking one of those cords out of place. If I had an extension cord, it wouldn't matter.

Also, my mother has been having a very easy week at her new job, and I'm very happy for her. I hope those years of stress completely melt away now.

Hello there, my crowd! Welcome to my Weekly Musings: Orange Edition.

I'm not posting these late on purpose, I swear!  Watching two movies on Sunday forced to delay this post. Allow me to explain, my crowd...

 Let's cover the BIG things that happened over the week we just finished. St. Paddy's Day was fun, though mostly uneventful for me. I got a new keyboard because the old one died, and thank goodness it was a hardware problem only. I got to try a new restaurant called "Noddle Bar", and I loved it! They serve authentic ramen and other authentic Asian dishes! I definitely plan to go back some day. I managed to get some more printer ink, and I even got a new USB memory stick, which I needed.  Last of all, I saw two movies. Watching one on Sunday was okay, but watching 2 was a mistake. I forgot just how long Zack Snyder's directors cut of Justice League was. It not only took away all my time to watch tokusatsu, but also kept me from writing this weekly summary.

 There are some other, minor things that happened too... My weekly game that I've been posting has come to an end. I don't mind replacing it, I just don't know what to do instead. I am fully caught up on Toonami now! That's why I can start watching movies, because now I can watch Toonami in real time instead of having to record it for later. I tried a new energy drink (more on that below), and my mother finished her last day in the women's department.

 But now it's time once again for MOVIE TIME!  COMING 2 AMERICA. I normally do my best to see the original before seeing the sequel, especially if it's a long overdue sequel. However, I didn't get the chance to this time, and only had to go by foggy memory of the original. All I can say is, I enjoyed this movie! It was funny, it was fun, it was a wonderful successor to the original. It had a ton of great actors and comedy, the story was a little grindy at times but otherwise solid, and I'm glad we live in a world where we can enjoy movies like this. Considering this movie has a comedic, overly-exaggerated view of a fictional land in Africa, it made me think that maybe this movie wouldn't have happened if other movies (like Black Panther) hadn't been as successful as they were. If you enjoyed the first one, please watch this, you won't be disappointed.

 ZACK SNYDER'S JUSTICE LEAGUE (A.K.A. The Snyder Cut). This is it, people. The one we've been waiting for, begging for, spreading that hashtag on social media for. And upon watching it, I can definitely say that it is a FAR better version of the movie. Is it perfect? No. We've still got super heroes killing their villains, there were too many scenes padded out with slow and forced-emotional moments, and sometimes these heroes were a bit too cynical. However, this movie is still better. With all the added content, it makes the original look like a bad hack job, which is kind of ironic. People who saw the original noticed that the trailers showed footage that didn't appear in the movie, and this director's cut completely removes shots that Whedon made on his own. Do I even need to bring up the "We live in a society..." line, which ended up being a trailer-only line? I guess Ray Fisher got his wish, no "booyah" line for Cyborg, even though that was clearly thrown in for the fans. Thank GOODNESS this version didn't misuse the John Williams Superman theme. I don't know if this director's cut will be enough to revive the DCU, but what I do know is that we have no right to complain. We did the work to get it released, now we gotta uphold our end of the bargain and support this in every official way possible.

 I tried another new energy drink! It's called "Ghost". They had different flavors based on popular candy brands; so I decided to grab the Sour Heads' Sour Watermelon flavor. I will say this... The label was not false advertising. It had a nice candy watermelon flavor, and it was pretty sour too. Not AS sour as the candy, but still pretty sour. What I did NOT expect them to do was kill in the energy department. They had a huge amount of caffeine, which was derived from real coffee!!  Dude, what are you trying to pull here, Ghost Energy Drink?! You're a candy flavored gimmick drink. You don't need to out perform most of the competition like this. I highly doubt athletes are going to turn to you for enhanced performance.

 Saber 27: A Lonely Dragon!  After a lot of story-driven episodes, it was nice to have a more standard episode like this. Sure, Saber got a new form that I'm not completely crazy about, but it's mostly standard fair by now. And from what I can tell, the next episode will leap right back into the major story. Rintaro still hasn't switched loyalties, but give it time. Also, I noticed that Kento, the new Caliber, is relying too much on future vision. Clearly, none of his visions included Saber getting this new form. And yet, after it was over, he looked to the future to see if any of his visions changed, and they clearly did not. Kento doesn't even realize that his future vision is flawed, and if one little thing can slip by his visions, then you better believe Saber will find a way to save the world. (P.S. I am using a new group to watch this show, FlameSubs. Apparently, they want to pick up the slack where Genm Corp left off while still providing a quality translation. So far, they seem better than IzuSubs, at least.)

 Zenkaiger 03: Match Made in Magic!  And now we have our pink ranger. There is something I want to say about the show, but I think I will hold off it until the next episode. For now, I will just say, I am seeing some interesting yet subtle similarities. Though I do wonder something... Why are Magine and Zyuran (Juran) part of the team? I can understand the other two. Vroom (Vroon) represents Boukenger and Gaon represents GaoRanger; anniversary series in Super Sentai history. But Zyuranger and MagiRanger were NOT anniversary series. I honestly can't think of a single reason... They could have easily made an eagle or bird character for either Sun Vulcan/Zyuohger/Jetman (and it keeps the animal motif). Just wish I knew what the creative decision process was like.

This might be cheating a little bit, but to me, this is more of a video than it is a song. Upon watching it, all I can say is "Sonic the Hedgehog is so confused right now...". Apparently, vocoding things to "Gangsta's Paradise" is a thing now. A lot of songs are being given this treatment, but this is the oddest one I found, and I hate how it manages to fit somewhat smoothly. This is "Caramelldansen but It's Vocoded to Gangsta's Paradise" by SiMusicGH3.

Hello again, my crowd. 

Well, I took a chance, and video games were not affecting my keyboard after all! It really was just the old one dying on me. So it's nice that I can keep playing whatever I like.

And best news is, I'm almost 100% caught up on all the Toonami shows I recorded! Which means soon, I'll be able to start watching movies again! This really should have happened sooner. Life got in the way, but things are really getting back on track.

So what's everyone been up to? Anything interesting? I hope my followers are still reading these status updates...

Hello there, my crowd! Welcome to my Weekly Musings: Red Edition.

I've been told that I'm bad at directions. Well I take offense to that remark! That's why I'm going to pack my bags and right.  I'll explain below why this weekly summary is late, my crowd.

 So the biggest thing I have to report about the week that just went by is: I got a new keyboard!  My old one died. I was really afraid it was going to be a software thing, thankfully it wasn't. I think the USB plug had burned out or something. It was slightly warped when I pulled it out. Only a select few buttons wouldn't work; like the space bar, the down arrow, or the page down button. I'm currently getting use to this new one. The old one had hand-friendly contours. This new one is just a flat piece of plastic. I'm missing a few keys as I type, but I'll get use to it eventually.

 I noticed my old keyboard acting weird a few days before. Normally, it would start out fine, but whenever I played a certain video game, that's when my keyboard would start glitching out. By Sunday, the glitches were permanent. I am currently afraid to try and play the game again. I hope it isn't having adverse affects on my computer. It's never done that before, but my computer is SUPER old. I never know what it'll do next to remind me how old it is. 

 ...Also, the keyboard is partly the reason I'm posting this late. On Sunday, I spent a few hours seeing if the problem was a software issue. After I decided to go ahead and get a new keyboard, it left little time to do all the other things I planned. By the time I was ready to write this summary, it was late and I had to go to bed.

 Zenkaiger 01: Insert Coin!  And so, another anniversary series begins. Gotta say, after how big Zyuohger and Gokaiger were, this is surprisingly a bit too goof-ball hyperactive in tone. Even the opening sequence feels a tad bit more childish than I’ve come to expect; doesn’t help that the preview window ruined my ability to listen to it completely. I mean, is that REALLY necessary? Do we really need a preview for the episode we are mere seconds away from watching? This show has decided to lean on the multiverse idea instead of trying to force all of Super Sentai into one timeline. I’m fine with that, Super Sentai never truly commits to one idea or the other (maybe in 10 more years, they’ll call them alternate timelines or something). A multiverse has always been a fan theory within the community for a long, long time. I am glad that they took their time setting up this story and how everything works before throwing tons of Super Sentai history at the audience. And just in case anyone thought this season was coming off too childish, they ended it on a cliffhanger, the perfect way to wrap things up for a show with this tone.

 Zenkaiger 02: Double Geared! I love the little things that are making up this series. I love that both the villains and heroes are completely unfamiliar with the tropes of this franchise, and therefore a lot of what they do is awkward yet charming, almost to the point of breaking the fourth wall. Other shows would have blasted through the basics by now, but since they are still learning, it’s like we’re starting over from zero but in a good way. I love how the MOTW was asked about his mushroom puns, a classic example of how other shows would have just rolled with it. I love how Gaon loves the lifeforms on Earth; I half expected him to only like his own kind. I love how the show is taking it’s time and recruiting the core 5 members of the team one at a time; I’ve ALWAYS wanted to see that! I laughed hard when combining forced Gaon and Zyuran to literally kiss and make up. And that Zenkaioh theme... Is that Isao Sasaki and Mitsuko Horie?! WHAT A COMEBACK!! 

 Saber 26: Doomsday Written!  Finally, a perfect justification to have excessive amounts of CGI, with the absolute best use of them too. How else are you going to show multiple timelines, each with the world turning into a wasteland and then meeting its ultimate destruction? I was waiting impatiently for this episode, and the wait paid off. Now I’m in a good place. I’m eager to see the next episode, but I’m not impatient. I see now that the current Master Logos is crazy evil, but I doubt Sabela is much better. Lead astray sure, but far from innocent in all this. And I gotta say, I have a new appreciation for X-Swordsman and Caliber’s design. I do believe that the use of colors on their suits is on purpose, but that’s a bigger discussion. Ask if you want to know my thoughts on that. Last of all, I don’t even care that we’ve learned Tassel’s real name. If we can do without his intros from now on, I’m all in!

 One show at a time... I am almost fully caught up with my Toonami shows. Once I do that, I can actually start watching movies. I just finished SAO Alicization War of Underworld. You know, Alicization was a good season. The first season was good, the others in middle not so much, but this last one was also good. I would have been fine with this being the final season of SAO, even if that last shot of Underworld was rather silly. But there is going to be more after all. I just hope it is good enough to follow in the footsteps of this season. I have managed to finish other things too, but most of what's playing on Toonami right now is still on-going. I'm just trying to get caught up so I can watch the shows in real-time rather than record them for later.

Kamen Rider Zero-One is a very futuristic show about a super hero fighting evil HumaGears, robots that were suppose to be helping humans in their day-to-day lives but have become corrupted by an evil living virus of sorts. Never in a MILLION years would I have expected to hear a cover of the theme song in traditional Japanese music. In fact, the show itself purposely skipped out on using any feudal Japan cinema sets, even though many Tokusatsu titles have managed to fit that in somehow. And yet, I've heard the cover, and I absolutely love it. This is "REAL x EYES Wagaki Cover" by Sakuramen.

How's it going, my crowd?  Things are looking a little wild~

My mother is currently running two different races.
The first is a race with her renter. You see, her renter is thinking of taking a job offer out of town, but hasn't fully decided on that. My mother only cares about making sure that rental property she destroyed has its renovations complete. Based on what my mother has said, those renovations are nearly done! However, "nearly done" won't matter if she leaves before they are finished. And worst of all, the renter has been renovating other things that don't need renovating. The walls in other rooms are getting painted, etc. All things we were going to do, but mother wanted to put them on the back burner til the bathroom was finished. (Still don't know if the renter replaced the oven or not.)

The other race, which will be finished soon, is a race at her job. Looks like they finally found someone to take her old job, so now she can FINALLY transfer to the department she wants to be in. A department with better hours and an easier-to-manage work flow. Hopefully sometime next week, all of that will fall into place.  So it's a mix of bad and good going on right now, but who knows what will happen. But I hope everything works out for her.

As for my personal life; can't say much right now. I'm glad Over-Time has decided to sub Zenkaiger after all! But there is a lot of tokusatsu movies I really need to catch up on, including ones that have come out recently. As for Genm Corp, they are finally posting Kamen Rider Saber episodes, but it seems like they are doing one episode at a time. Not sure how fast it will take for them to catch up to the current episodes, but until that happens, I may have to continue using IzuSubs for a while. At least my TV can read those subs without having to convert them to hardsubs like I usually have to do.

Either things are about to get a lot more dangerous, or things are about to get a lot more liberating.  Let's talk about it, my crowd!

 I guess the biggest thing to report this week is an update on the state where I live, Texas. They have, basically, lifted Mask mandates.  Well, it's suppose to "officially" go into effect this coming Wednesday, but I went around town on Sunday, and there's all ready plenty of people not wearing masks. My mother said that she would rather I continue to wear a mask, at least until I get vaccinated. I'm still not sure what to do... It may be a while before I can get a vaccine. My mother still carries her masks around, but she's using them a lot less because she is vaccinated. I may have to try and get a vaccine as soon as possible, because I don't like living with this confusion. But as a medical worker, my mother is concerned. Death rates are lowering, but we're still testing the waters with the vaccines and what not. Either this change in Texas is going to create a new spike in death tolls, or it will work out fine. It feels like change is happening too fast, and I'm not sure if positive change is winning or not.

 There's been lots of pop culture news, but I can barely keep up with all of it. There's lots of new Gridman, Power Rangers, Super Sentai, and other various other merch being announced. More movies are coming out, more trailers are being dropped. Bronies can't seem to get enough of what the next pony generation has in store. (If this CGI movie takes place in G4, doesn't that make it a continuation an not a new generation?) What was your favorite announcement this week? Believe it or not, what I'm excited for is rumors. One rumor says that Shout Factory might be releasing more Super Sentai DVD boxsets soon; really hope so. Another rumor says that the Snyder Cut of Justice League might be getting a theatrical release? Not sure how that is suppose to happen since (I believe) the Snyder Cut is being divided into episodic release. Still, if this rumor is true, then this is what I'll gladly get out of my house and brave the wild theaters for. I wanted to drop Netflix, but with things like 2 new He-Man cartoons coming soon and a new Pacific Rim cartoon getting released, I can't afford to drop out now. At least with a theatrical release, I could support the production officially.

 WOW, am I late.  I meant to share this last week... I have recently tried a new brand of energy drink that I've never seen before; and I got to try 2 of their many flavors. The brand is called "Alani Nu Energy". I was a little taken back by how the label is just this plastic wrap that feels like paper, instead of printing directly on to the can. Besides all the healthy buzz phrases that they are advertising, which may or may not be true, these are just sweet and fruity energy drinks. If you like the sweeter ones, you'll enjoy these. The first one I tried is called Cosmic Stardust. No idea what it was suppose to be, but the focus on blue, pink, and purple colors on the label made me think of Unicorn-flavored stuff. The drink itself? To me, it tastes like blueberry, but I have no way of knowing what they are actually going for. The other flavor is called Watermelon Wave. The label shows images of Watermelon, Cherry, Grape, and Orange (I doubt it's actually Lemon). If you've ever had a Sprite Remix, it basically tastes like that. Again, I have no idea if any of these are actually the flavors they are going for. I checked the ingredients list for both of these drinks, and they just list a bunch of artificial ingredients and chemicals. Not a single clue of what these flavors are suppose to be based on.

 Saber 25: The Unholy Blades!  Darn it! There just isn’t enough time in one episode! I was looking forward to this episode, and yet they left us on a cliffhanger. The true traitor shows her colors, Rintarou is finally stuck between having to make the hardest decision ever, and the new Caliber’s identity is revealed. This is a revelation that has been building since the last Caliber fell. The show kind of teased it happening, and I wish they didn’t, but at least they waiting till midway through the series to make it happen. Plenty of time for most audience members to forget, thus making the reveal a bit more surprising. Also, I was surprised Saber in Primitive Dragon Form was able to get a hit on Sabela. So a skeletal dragon can smack the wind out a living smoke? Logic; what’s that?!  (Also, I had to watch this episode with IzuSubs. Genm Corp is back, but they haven't caught up on Saber just yet. Hopefully, they will soon.)

 NO ZENKAIGER THIS WEEK!  The answer why is simple. No fansub group subtitled the first episode fast enough. Sad, but that's how it is. I was so excited for this show that I cleared up my schedule so I could watch it as soon as it premiered. I don't even know if Over-Time is going to sub it or if they might skip it. It's like the fansub community is watching on waited breath to see what they'll do. But next time for sure! This series is too important to just skip over.

 Had 3 dreams in a row, this week. One was scary but kind of silly. I was living in a new house, but as I was changing, some random stranger barged in on me. They said that it was cool because they were the previous owners, but that hardly gives them the right to walk on someone who isn't decent! The second one was about me taking a test in school, and the test was in Japanese! Even when I tried to answer the easiest question they had, the so called "question for babies", it was a trigonometry/theoretical mathematics question! They must not mess around in Japan. And the third dream, sadly I can't remember it clearly. I think the ponies were there! Either Twilight or Pinkie Pie. Can't recall exactly what happened.

Oh my gosh, I finally found it!!  Ladies in gentlemen, when I was just a wee child in the 90's, my local library had this educational game on their computers. I'm sure by adult standards, it's actually super easy. But for a kid coming in, randomly playing it, never knowing where the last kid left off, and never fully knowing the objective; this game was scary. Those robots were out to kill you! But the main character looked really cool. ...Don't remember it having voice actors or looking this vibrantly colorful, though... This is a game known as "Super Solvers: Midnight Rescue!".

Is it strange that when I see a pony with narrow or more angular eyes, I want to assume they might be asian or have some asian ancestry?  Seems like the only thing that can confirm is if they are unicorns, because asian unicorn horns are curved. Just look at Mistmane and her fellow asian ponies.

Today's been mostly a good day for me! I learned that new toys of the original Gridman are being made (and they look high quality too). And also, Genm Corp is back!  I hope they catch up soon. I want to use them to watch the next ep of Saber.

For those wondering why this is being posted late, it's because it was raining last night, and it took out my internet for a while. Nothing I could do but go to bed and try again tomorrow.  But let's get into it, shall we my crowd?

 The biggest thing about last week was all the trailers that dropped. FNAF, Spider-Man, Pokemon, Rugrats, and more! Looking forward to Rugrats because it looks like they really want this to be just like the original cartoon. Also, we got more previews for the two He-Man cartoons coming to Netflix, so that's at the top of my hype list. But easily the biggest thing is the next gen of MLP.  Someone brought this to my attention, and I have to say... Is Hasbro REALLY trying to compete with their knockoff competitor Filly Funtasia?  Hope not. Either way, long story short, I'm a mix of positive and negative feelings right now, but I am doing my best to keep an open mind.

 The saddest thing that happened last week was that Daft Punk disbanded. Never expected that to happen. But at least the rest of the week was largely positive! I started a project where I collected awesome mashups and burned them to a CD for him. Not only was he not expecting it, but he absolutely loved it too! A perfect success. 

 Kiramager 43: To Paint A Stone Black...  The revelation in this episode wasn’t necessarily bad. I’ve seen other stories in Super Sentai where one of the main villains was being manipulated against their will or brainwashed. I just wish they could have built up to this revelation a bit more. It seems rather cheap that they are revealing this within the last 3 episodes, especially because I was expecting something different. I thought Garza had a legit (though misguided) reason for turning evil. Revealing that he was just brainwashed near the end is kind of cheap and empty, And to prove how pointless it all is, they kill him off too. Even I could have written a better reveal than this. To think we went through all those filler episodes for nothing.

 Kiramager 44: Another Dull Shine. This episode was interesting, but it could have been better. I was surprised to see Emperor Yodon sacrificing Yodonna like that. I know, I shouldn’t have been, but I was surprised none the less.  Everything kept me on the edge of my seat except for one part. I was really hoping that when Garza fused himself with his train, that would basically make him a living Kiramai Stone like the ones the Kiramagers are partnered with. Doing that would at least somewhat make up for the previous episode. But no, the show runners have put their foot down. Garza’s dead, Kiramai Red gets the train. Whatever. Let’s just get to the final episode all ready.

 Kiramager 45: Crystal Clear!  When I saw the preview for this episode, I was scared they were going to bring back the character that deserves it the least, Yodonna. Thankfully, that was not the case. In the end, the heroes got the happy ending they all deserved, perhaps happier than usual. And with a little teaser image of the next Super Sentai, no less! While I can’t say I fully enjoyed how the series ended, I am glad that it’s over, and I’m genuinely happy for these heroes. They deserve some peace. I’ll expand more on my over all thoughts in the series summary, but for now… All’s well that ends well.

 Saber 22: Stone Cold Confused.  It seems really weird that Buster would challenge Saber like this. I thought that he trusted Slash’s judgment. If he defected to join Saber, then that must mean Saber’s on the up-and-up, and therefore Buster should trust him too. Right? I am hoping that Buster was not really trying to attack Saber, just testing his resolve like Slash did previously. Either way, this episode had some confusing direction.

 Saber 23: Flossing on Dragon Bones! Well, this was a surprisingly good episode! Sneaking into the Southern base, finding a mysterious person we’ve never seen before (I assume it’s Master Logos without his cloak on), and top it all off with Saber getting a new power when he accidentally glances at a forbidden book. I was skeptical about how they were going to throw a berserker Rider into this, but they found a way to make it work! However, I was mostly not expecting for this Master Logos person to be a thing. So is he like the king to the knights?  This puts previous episodes in a new light... I may need to keep watching to really get a full picture.

 MY THOUGHTS ON THE KIRAMAGER SERIES OVER ALL: It's hard for me to fully hate this series, even if I didn't care for the latter half of the series. I feel like I'm betraying those who loved it if I say anything negative about it. This series came out just as COVID was beginning to be a thing, and for many, it was just the escapism they needed. It didn't need to be perfect, it just needed to be fun, and Kiramager was a fun distraction for many. Lately I've been saying that a show doesn't necessarily need deep or engaging plot; a simple MOTW formula can work too if the show is fun enough. I feel like I need to count Kiramager as such a show, even if I personally didn't care for it. Not to mention, the main actor playing Juuru/Kiramai Red came down with COVID but managed to overcome it and get healthy again, and I don't want to downplay that amazing feat. The show itself started off great! I loved the music, the poses, the randomness, and sheer unpredictable spirit it had. It was just as refreshing as seeing the first season of Jojo after watching a billion cutesy moe anime. I just expected a lot more from Garza's personal story reveal, and the show didn't quite deliver in the way I had hoped. Instead, they chose to make the series more like just a standard show. So in the end, it could have been more, I wanted it to be more, but it's not. And that's fine, my issues with it are personal criticisms only. It gave people a moment of happiness in dark, confusing times, and I can appreciate that. But I'm glad I finished watching all of it, because now I can watch Zenkaiger as soon as it premiers.

So many trailers released this week!  And most of them were Pokemon. And apparently, the live action Tom & Jerry movie was also released. Add that to the list of movies I'll need to see some time...

But at least I finished my music project for my uncle.  Hope he likes it.

Hey there, my crowd! How's the ponies? 

Actually, I have to specify which ones I'm talking about now, because it looks like we're on the dawn of a new era of ponies.
I've been avoiding speaking about anything because designs and other leaks have popped in and out of discovery. To me, leaked images mean nothing. I'm waiting on something more concrete.

Well, we finally got something. Not just 2D images, but 3D CGI images, and an unfinished piece of CGI animation. So I guess it's time to give my thoughts...

I want to wait til we have a real trailer. With sound and everything.
Right now, I'm not super hyped about the designed. It looks like a mix between G1 and G4 style. These characters are expressive, but not the way I'm use to. G4 really had its own unique art style. These new ponies feel like they could stand side-by-side with the characters from Frozen, or any of Disney's other CGI cartoon characters. It's hard to make CGI as expressive and as charming are 2D animation. I felt they struck a good balance with the "Hello Pinkie Pie" shorts. It's better than those fanmade SFM animations, at least. You can talk about the voice acting all you want, but I really felt like the CGI in those shorts really did close the distance between stiff CGI and the cartoon's expressive style. However, this new CGI feels more like a step back.

Not that it matters much, I guess. Based on the 2D images I've seen, they were always going to abandon the G4 style in favor of this. The ears are a little more pinched at the base of the head. The eyes are smaller and narrower. I saw a fan draw them in G4 style and it looked way better than the official art that was leaked.
But none of that matters because I want to fall in love with the story. I want to fall in love with the characters and what they are going through. All of that is either going to make or break the next generation. It's not about what's new, it's about if Hasbro can still bring us good stories and great characters. It would be such a waste if Hasbro decided to regress the brand or learn nothing after how successful G4 was.
