  1. @GeneralDirection After Samurai reaches a fury point to where his hooves are almost a blur of martial arts moves, he kicks and punches openings in the dummies' defenses, knocking the dummies down to the ground. Samurai takes a breather as his kuroko clear the field of all his training obstacles. "Most times, I train wearing a full suit of armor. It's heavier, but if I can get use to wearing it while fighting, then I won't feel weighed down or distracted. The armor will become like regular clothing to me." Samurai explains. Once he has collected himself, Samurai grabs a special rake and magically hovers one over to Silver. "Care to join me? After training, I like to rake the sand into a decorative pattern. It's a lot like meditation, but also it restores the beauty of the field." Samurai takes the lead and shows him by example. At first, he is just making rows and valleys with his rake; but then he makes swirls and circles. It's like this field is becoming a sand garden.
  2. @Skylight Scintillate, @Kujamih, @PawelS Samurai is beside himself with that one comment. He wants to say something, but he doesn't want it to come off wrong. So instead, he pulls Dr. Clue aside and whispers to her. "She knows that we have the authority to arrest her for obstruction of justice, right? Should we wave that authority? I can't play the bribe game. I'm too honest for that."
  3. @GeneralDirection Samurai smirks. He looks over at his kuroko and nods. They quickly step onto the field, set up some practice dummies (wooden poles covered in rope), and leave just as fast as they appears. "Instead of incantations... All I need to say is an activation name." He faces the dummies and leaps towards the first one. "Flaming PUNCH!" Samurai delivers a might punch as he lands, which not only engulfs the dummy in fire, but makes it explode! It's a tame explosion, but still. Samurai turns and leaps into the air, tucking into a kick. This time, his magically-summoned fire surrounds his foot. "Flaming KICK!!" He delivers a kick to the the second dummy; the results are the same. He rises up and pull his sword out of its sheath. "And my most powerful move of all..." He spin around towards the third and final dummy, swinging his sword. "FLAMING SLASH!!!" As his fire surrounds the sword, he diagonally cuts the dummy clean in half before both pieces burn up. This time, the explosion is a little bigger, but still contained. "Just to be clear... I was holding back. I can make those attacks far more violent, if I wanted to. But it's not all about brute force with magic." Samurai's horn stops glowing and he re-sheaths his sword. At his command, the kuroko set up more dummies. These are much closer together, and they each have swiveling rows of stick arms. "Hoof-to-hoof skills can be just as useful, if not more so." Samurai explains as he gets in the middle of these dummies. With one swing of his upper hoof, it begins. As he switches between each dummy, Samurai is clearly using martial arts to protect himself and beat back any of these swinging dummy arms. Sometimes he has to aim high, or low, or midsection. Every block or counterstrike causes the dummy arms to keep swiveling; all the more reason for Samurai to keep his guard up. Basically, it's like watching someone getting ganged up on by a bunch of opponents all at once; but Samurai has the skill to hold his own. And the thick sounds you hear every time Samurai protects himself? It'll hurt if any of one of those dummy arms actually hits Samurai. And yet Samurai's moves are getting faster and faster the more he trains with these dummies.
  4. @GeneralDirection "Well, that a very interesting question to ask... I would like to have a marefriend some day. A special somepony. But until that day, I can promise I'm not lonely. The distance back to town is only a few minutes at most, and even if I can't run fast enough, I can always teleport. In fact, my job usually keeps me so busy that I barely have time to come home for personal time. So I'd say I'm not lonely at all." Samurai explains. The house itself seems normal. Hallways, rooms, and such. However, Samurai leads Silver to the center of the house, which is actually a roofless courtyard. The courtyard is spacious, mostly a sand yard. There is one tree in the center; not too big but not small enough that you'd miss it. The rest of the courtyard is filled with various obstacles. "This is where I train and practice my skills in a practical use. Little things, like the tree, remind me to be mindful of my surroundings and how I use my abilities. Because if I'm not careful, I could end up hurting an innocent bystander." Samurai explains. He steps onto the courtyard and begins to concentrate. His horn glows red. "For my particular brand of magic, I have learned enough focus and discipline that I don't need long incantations anymore." Samurai stands upright and lifts his front hooves up. With the help of his magic, fierce flames appear overtop his hooves, yet he is not any pain. He controls the fire. He is the master of it.
  5. @GeneralDirection "Sights? Well, I suppose that's one way to put it." Samurai says before leading the way. Silver would soon see that Samurai is leading him deeper and deeper into the countryside of Japone, still well within the town's limits. The last major thing they see is a library before the houses get less and less prominent. By a mountain ridge is a rather grand house. "This one's mine. It's a little out of the way, I admit. But I am just close enough to the main town and the boarder to Japone that I can hear anything and be there as soon as possible. Since my shogun showed me this place to help in my training, I decided to make a home here. However, I also have a variety of different training grounds here." As they approach the front door, it seems there are some servants waiting to greet Samurai with a mutual bow. These ponies are wearing black outfits with a black vale covering their faces. "These are my kuroko, paid shadow servants that tend to my personal needs as a samurai. In the west, I believe the richer ponies have something similar called maids and butlers." Samurai explains as they enter his house. The first room at the entrance is more like a foyer. Samurai removes his hoof gear that he was wearing on his hind hooves and leaves it in this foyer. Seems you're not suppose to enter the house wearing any kind of shoes or hoof coverings.

How goes it, my crowd? :Rara:

To those who are seeing this, if you wouldn't mind...
    PLEASE SIGNAL BOOST THIS MESSAGE!

This tip was given to me by my friend @Sven Glimmer.

Want to stay up to date with the users your follow? Don't want to be bogged down with updates of when they post in any other section of the forum? Here's an easier fix! (Keep in mind one simple thing. It's not a perfect solution, just an alternative.)

Under the forum's banner, click "Show me pony!" -> "My active streams" -> "Users I follow".
On the next page, under "Content Types", click the checkbox by "Status Updates" -> "Apply Changes".

It's not perfect. You can't narrow it down to status update replies, as far as I can tell. There's an option to narrow it down to new posts only, but that option doesn't seem to fully work on my end, so you might want to keep track of what you've all ready seen. The final thing to remember is you'll have to check often. You won't get any notification alerts. But if you prefer to have less alerts anyways, this might be the option for you!

As for me and my personal life, this has been a pretty good week! I've been seeing more trailers for Sonic Prime, Origins, and Frontiers. I've been seeing trailers for Thor 4 and Black Adam. The hype is so real. :eager: And if all goes well, I'll be seeing the new Rescue Rangers movie soon.

    Take care, my crowd. B)

But if you combine this method and activate this:

      Notifications_2.png

Then you will still receive notifications for Status Update Replies. Combined with the "My Friend Statuses", it shows you everything you need. :) "My Friends Statuses" is misleading though and should be rename;, it's for all the people you follow.

      @TomDaBombMLP

I use custom streams since February, so not a single thing changed for me after the update/upgrade or whatever you wanna call it. Besides the blank status bug of course.
The thing is...I don't only want to see the status posts like you and the others, but also the normal posts. So I have a stream for my close circle and friends, excluding the ones who spam in Forum games so much. It would bother me as notifications, so I have a stream for around 20 people and I see everything. :) Notifications always bothered me. I just want to do things at my own pace. :coco: I only want to use them for mentions, quotes and reactions (which is still possible), basically only the important stuff. If I had the option to follow or unfollow status posts, it would be perfect.

Good to know! Thanks for the update. :D

      @Astral Soul

I'm a little late, but thanks my cosmic friend. :eager: Ooh... Weight loss. Tell me more. :sunbutt:

  7. @GeneralDirection "I suppose that's up to you. There's plenty of places to go! We can explore this very traditional town some more. I could always show you one of my training sessions. Or, we could visit one of the more modern cities in Japone. This place may enjoy the classical traditions of old, but in the big cities, there is all kinds of creativity and invention. One of our biggest exports is manga, anime, and video games. That's a culture all by itself." Samurai explains as he finishes eating. He cleans up his mess and tosses the scraps in the proper recycling bins.
  8. @GeneralDirection Samurai actually relaxes to his reply. "Glad to know. Japone is different than other parts of Equestria. We know some species eat meat, and we don't shame or judge those who do. The idea of a strick, no-meat lifestyle has come from the west. It's really popular with non-asian ponies, and in order to increase tourism and international relations, our various stores and food vendors have been doubling meatless food items. That's why you're going to see a lot of signs saying the food is made with fake or artificial meat ingredients. However, if you ask around, you can find food items with real meat. In fact, half of our local dishes were once originally made with meat in mind." Samurai explains.
  9. Happy Birthday, my amazing friend! :mlp_yeehaa::blue_baloon::balloon:

  10. @GeneralDirection Samurai has to laugh to himself. He has so much education to give his new friend. But a thought dawns upon him. Samurai sits closer and motions Silver to lean in closer as well. When Silver gets close, Samurai looks around before quietly asking him a question. "I have to ask. Ponies don't usually do this, but... Do kirins eat meat?"
  11. @Skylight Scintillate, @Kujamih, @PawelS Samurai steps up first. "Dear citizen, this is a very urgent matter of national security. We've been tasked by Princess Celestia herself to take care of this matter. Equestria as we know it may be at risk of something dangerous, perhaps a powerful villain plotting something fierce. As a citizen of Equestria, it is your duty... Neigh, your privilege to assist us in this manner. Who knows, history may speak fondly of you for helping us." Just in case, Roll for CHARM.
  12. @GeneralDirection Samurai takes a moment to think. "Those are just fairy tales for us. If I had to guess... It must have happened long ago, perhaps in the time of our ancestors. Somepony from my land must have seen a random kirin, did their best to describe or record what they saw, but it got misconstrued into the fairy tale we've had for so long. Doesn't help that this is the first time we have ever confirmed kirins do exist after all. I wonder how much of the world is also unaware of kirins..." Samurai says. He has more to add to that thought, but chooses to hold off. He takes a few more bites of food then answers Silver's question. "The main dish is called Tsukemen. I've also got a side of Natto since I forgot to have some this morning. Some gyoza with a side sauce. Some dango for dessert. And to drink, I'm having a vanilla flavored probiotic yogurt drink. If any of this sounds good to you, I am more than happy to share." Samurai offers.

How goes it my crowd? :devious:

Hope everyone had a happy Monday. It was average for me.
I am thinking of starting a new blog here... I know I did my Samurai Facts blog some time ago, and I may revive that some day. However, that takes research and making sure my facts are correct, or at least presentable enough to be a starting point. If I blog about something more personal to me and my life, then it would be easier to keep it going. :maud:

Remember to tell people "You're right". It really does make a world of difference.

    Spoiler

This is not about who can and cannot handle the truth. This is not about who is a 'snowflake' vs who isn't.
Because the truth is, no matter who we are, no matter how open we are to learning, no matter how close-minded we can be, we all seek the same thing eventually: Validation. Confirmation that we are right or that our experiences are not wrong.

I've been in many conversations with stubborn people that want to be right. They might not be aware of how stubborn they can be. They might not be aware how much they are fighting to have the final say, nor how much they are shutting other people's input down. I've even met people who feel threatened if you dare to add any points after they said what they think is 'the final word' on a subject. So if you want to prevent an argument from breaking out, if you want to add to conversation without making someone else feel threatened or belittled, remember this simple rule of thumb...

Before you say anything, start your sentence with "You're right" or "You're absolutely right", then proceed to add your own thoughts to make your own points.

It really does make all the difference. It says to the other person "I've heard your thoughts and I acknowledge them as valid, and whatever I have to say next does NOT diminish what you said earlier." It really is that great of a useful tool! It works in any situation too. From defensive people trying to control a conversation, to those who are shy and afraid that they're being ignored. You might not get thanked for it, but you become the hero of a conversation when you use simple acknowledgements like this.

I'm not saying you need to say these phrases every time. If you adamantly disagree with someone, if you want to challenge what they are saying or believe, then don't use those phrases. If you're afraid agreeing with someone will make a bad situation worse, then definitely don't do it. But there does come a time when you need to pick and choose your battles, when a huge argument over something minor could have easily been avoided. And if you have don't disagree with the previous person, if you actually like or agree with anything they said, then go ahead and tell them you agree with them! It's like the cost of being nice; it costs nothing and can make a world of positive difference.

Furthermore, no one should try to be stubborn and fight for the final say in any conversation. No one should go around feeling like their word is threatened just because someone else is adding their 2 cents. No one should seek to be this way. We would all be better off with open minds and hearts, willing to listen and learn rather than believing we're the smartest ones in the room. But such arrogance can happen to any of us, even the nicest of us. So let's spend less time accidentally shutting each other down and spend more time recognizing each other for the valid thoughts and experiences that we have.

    Take care, my crowd. B)

  14. Hello there, my crowd! Welcome to my Weekly Musings: Red Edition.

    [I ❤ JAPAN] -- [I ❤ THE COLOR RED] -- [I ❤ CELESTIA]

Police STOP - Emoticon Point Right Feel free to leave a song request. Your song will eventually be featured in a future Weekly Musings entry! Point Left STOP - Emoticon Police

I hope things are feeling magical for you, my crowd. 204082.gif Let's talk about the week we just finished.

bmc.png.dead4df5641294b1d1c51b1da6cdaeeb.png Biggest thing that happened, give credit where credit is due... It's Pride Month! :squee: Okay so maybe this doesn't affect me personally, but I can still be happy for those who are. One of my uncles is gay, and I took some time to let him know he is appreciated. He's not the kind of guy to make a big show out of anything, so he doesn't need to be part of a parade or anything (and we don't really have parades in my town). Still, I wouldn't mind attending one, just to see what it's like. As I told my uncle, maybe I could get one of those ally flags or an ally t-shirt or something. Might be fun.

cel.png.932df6a068796c2120797b896cfae033.png Now let's get back to what's personal... Yours truly! It took longer than I ever wanted. Mostly because other expenses came up, and it turns out I didn't have as much money to go around as I thought. However, I finally managed to buy and install a new storm door! Man, what a mission that was... It took nearly half a day of work to get that done, and some things probably could have been skipped. But with some help and nearly wearing myself out, my other uncle and I got it done. :BrightMacContent:And if I learned anything from this ordeal, it's the size of the door. I think I was an inch off in terms of height. I still managed to make the new door work by extending the weather sweep at the bottom. However, I hope I won't have to get another replacement for a long, long time.

bmc.png.dead4df5641294b1d1c51b1da6cdaeeb.png Beyond that, SEGA and IGN have been releasing teaser footage of Sonic Frontiers in action! Not enough to give you an idea of the story, but based on the gameplay, this might be the most ambitious Sonic game to date! :pinkie: People were making comparisons to Zelda before, but now they are making comparisons to Shadow of the Colossus. Since we have only scratched the surface, who knows what else we might see. ...Also, surprised IGN got these exclusive first looks before the official Sonic YouTube page...

cel.png.932df6a068796c2120797b896cfae033.png SUPERHUMAN SAMURAI SYBER SQUAD! HB4hUOc.png

    • Episode 32, self-decline tapes! This episode is largely original, though something like it could have easily fit in with original Japanese show. Monster footage comes from Gridman 10. ...Wait. Sam's wrist-mounted Samurizer can scan for monsters now?! Forget reshuffling the episodes, this is the biggest continuity hiccup ever! It's not fair to compare the two episodes. However, Malcom only wanted Kilo to take over all of mankind's minds eventually, while Takeshi wanted to endanger the masses immediately. Even if you ignore the difference in danger scale, Gridman wins.
    • Episode 33, the shipping wars! Another original and very dumb story. The only good thing is the off-character moment where Amp is a wise sage for a short, fleeting instance. Honestly, I wish Amp was like this every episode, dumb and random 90% of the time but enlightened and inspiring when the team needs it most. Monster footage is from Gridman 01. Malcom was particularly conniving in this episode. However, it's not enough to beat an episode about saving a kid in the emergency ward. Gridman wins.
    • Episode 34, insecure friendship! Once again, an original episode. Messing with security systems is almost Gridman worthy, if it were done for more than one school. Monster footage comes from Gridman 17. Considering the somewhat forced nature of how Team Samurai is getting on each others nerves, I'd say this episode probably should be seen earlier instead of later since they don't even talk about how long they've been friends, but feel free to disagree. Being trapped anywhere is bad enough, but it's not quite as engaging as the hacker that nearly ruined the Japanese hero team. Gridman wins.
    • Episode 35, thanksgiving special episode! An original episode, but easily one of the better ones, with some heart-warming moments too! No healing scene, though. Monster footage comes from Gridman 36. Hard to judge. The steaks are different between the two episodes, but only one show had a holiday-themed episode. It's a tie. Both win.
    • Episode 36, syber stuck! Another original episode, but one so clever it really should have been in Gridman. Bonus points for actually putting Sam's life in the balance, and for showing an actual evolution with Syd and Tanker's relationship status! There have been episodes where Digifer and Takeshi tried to attack Gridman directly, but never when he was all ready weak or trapped. Monster footage comes from Gridman 07. Sorry Japan, but a microwave exploding isn't quite the same. SSSS wins.

bmc.png.dead4df5641294b1d1c51b1da6cdaeeb.png NO REVICE OR DONBROTHERS THIS WEEK! nynjRij.png osnb5Gt.png I'll catch up next week.

That's all for now, my crowd. B) Take care, and work smart & hard.

I did mention I love foreign language covers of songs, right? Especially Japanese... Considering the strange lyrics of the original, I am not sure if this Japanese cover makes the song better or worse, but it does give us a preview of what could have been. This a Japanese cover of "Look-a-Like" from the Sonic OVA/Animated Movie by Dream Kittu.

  15. @GeneralDirection "Interesting. I would love to visit, but only if I am allowed to do so. I cannot leave Japone unless Shogun, the Empress, or Princess Celestia grants me permission to do so. A samurai is honor-bound to be loyal to their superiors." Samurai explains between bites of food. (I am not sure what era this RP is suppose to take place, so feel free to pick.) "I am just glad you are so civilized. When it comes to creatures our society hasn't seen yet, the ones that only exist in fable at most, there's always a fear that they will be wild or out of control."

Hello, my crowd! How goes it? :adorkable:

I am so tired... :scoots: After many delays, I finally put in a new storm door, and wow was it more hard work than I realized it would be! My legs are so sore right now. But at least it's done and I no longer have to think about it from now on. ...Even if I might be a little broke for the next two weeks.

Hmm... :sunny: I wonder if anyone thinks less of me for liking G5. Just because I am giving it a chance doesn't mean I have abandoned G4, nor will I ever forget the wonderful time I spent with it. So many great episodes, specials, and a great movie... Not to mention I made so many great friends. FIM is the whole reason I joined this place so many years ago. So I will keep it in my heart even as I move forward and give new things a chance. ... Wait, are there fans that are actually shrugging off G4 instantly as if it never happened?  Is it fair to even call them fans? I don't know. Just a lot to think about, really...

    Take care, my crowd. B)

Applejack would want me to be honest. And so to honor her, yes, you and some other friends of mine were unintentionally making me feel this way. But I am glad you don't actually lump me in with those questionable fans. :coco: I will never forget the generation that charmed me into being here in the first place. And while I am giving G5 a chance, I'll always carry G4 with me at the same time.

  17. @GeneralDirection Samurai nearly giggles. "I'll try my best to give you a taste of everything. But if you see anything you want to try, don't be afraid to speak up. I'm buying, after all. Being a samurai means you are employed and paid for your services." Samurai explains. A little later, upon finding a table to dine at, Samurai places the food he ordered before Silver. "For you my new friend, I present the starter pack to Japonies cuisine." Before him are 5 different things and a drink. The food is all in smaller, manageable sizes. Combined, it should be enough for a decently sized meal. "I got you some Onigiri with a side of Curry Sauce to dip it in, which is not traditional here so I had to make a request for it. Next you've got a small Okonomiyaki, this particular kind is made with a mild cheese. Next, one small slider of Takoyaki; prepared with artificial squid in the center. Next, a small bowl of miso soup. For something sweet, this fish-shaped pastry is taiyaki, filled with red-bean paste. Finally to help drink it all down, a cup of gourmet green tea, iced." Samurai explains the spread. Those are all for Silver. Samurai has his own food, which is different than what Silver received.
  18. @Skylight Scintillate, @Kujamih, @PawelS "Shitsurei shimasu." Samurai bows his head and then enters Raven Cry's place. Samurai looks a little out of place here. However, his thoughts were on the décor. "...I wonder how often Snow Leopard lives like this..." Samurai thinks to himself as he looks around. Raven's Cry asks a question. "...The doctor can explain it better than I can." Samurai says, giving the floor to Dr. Clue. He didn't bring a sketch of the strange symbol.
  19. Happy Birthday, my friend! :mlp_yeehaa::blue_baloon::balloon:

  20. @GeneralDirection Samurai smiles and nods before leading the way. ... It took just as long to leave the castle and get back to the main part of the town. However once there, Samurai shows him a locale where food vendors have set up shop, many right next to each other. Samurai picks one. "I chose here because you can dine outside and still take in the sights of Japone while you do. Feel free to pick any vendor you want." Samurai says. The one he chose specializes in ramen, yakisoba, and tsukemen. Another specializes in different kinds of sushi. Another specializes in takoyaki, ikayaki, and squid tempora (signs clarify that all the meat is imitation, not made from any actual animals). Another specializes in fried foods. Another in gourmet veggies. Another in desserts. And so on.
  21. Banned! Because banned is not a food...
  22. @GeneralDirection Shogun agrees. "This is a much better discovery than the stones. I think you'll find Japone is quite large with a many things to offer. There are traditional prefectures. There are very modern prefectures. And there are industrial and rural prefectures. 8 in total, and each has a samurai assigned to it." The Shogun explains. "This is the Kanto prefecture, where I am assigned. But just like my fellow samurai, I am ready to protect all of Japone if necessary." Samurai explains. "I'll go inform the empress of this right away. I hope we meet again, Silver." With a bow, Shogun departs with his followers. "Well, that was it for us. I know, not very glamorous, but Shogun is the one that gave me the field assignment in the first place. On top of being the supreme general that I take orders from, he is also my first mentor and the one that approved of me becoming a samurai. So... Now that you're here in Japone, what would you like to do? I can answer any questions, give you a tour of any part of Japone you like, or I can treat us to a meal. You would probably prefer any change of scenery over this stuffy sanctuary." Samurai says.
  23. @GeneralDirection "Fascinating. Elemental magic is famous here, because it is us asian ponies that have mastered it. It all began when one of our great founders, Mistmane, mastered the art of earth-based magic. Hers was the best and most powerful. The ponies from the western half of Equestria master many kinds of magic, but elemental magic is not their most developed skill." The shogun explains. "Remember Asahi? She has earth magic, but not a lot of it. The tree that grows on her head is a side effect of not being able to fully master that power." Samurai explains. The shogun clears his throat. "Where are my manners? You may call me Shogun Equine. It's a pleasure to meet you." The shogun introduces himself and bows his head. His name is similar to Samurai's it seems. Perhaps these are also code names? "As long as you are truly peaceful, I will ask our empress to allow Kirin-kind free citizenship in our land." Shogun says.
