One Minute Clip Released
HereComesTom replied to Tom Gallagher's topic in My Little Pony: A New Generation (2021)
Wow. I'm starting to get hyped. Seven Nine days, people! -
When you asked the question, I was thinking your question was more "is the character of the land the same?" instead of "is the land still called Equestria?" To answer your question, I don't know if they'll call it that---probably the name Equestria will be familiar, if not actively used. But what made me think "This is the same G-4 universe" was how, in the trailer, all the townponies ran like crazy when they thought a threat was coming: that's totally G-4 right there, with prey-animal instincts on display!

@KirbyFluttershy Redd's here, but the only non-fake art he has is a Mysterious Painting, which I just bought. Is that one of the paintings you need? If it is, I could just give it to you once it arrives in the mail. -

It's not necessary to check every hour---sometimes all it takes is two datapoints per day for it to figure out which weather-pattern you've got on a given day. MeteoNook tells you when it has enough. Meteor timings can be even more helpful; if you can tell it which minutes you do have meteors---and, just as importantly, which minutes you don't---that can help a lot! -

HereComesTom replied to Will Guide's topic in Media Discussion
It's doable---it's how I get the meteorite timings, and how I keep finding Celeste and letting everypony know about her. Getting the seed was a frustrating experience, but I think I'll be able to help make it less frustrating for you. Here's a link to the site: https://wuffs.org/acnh/weather/ The way it works is this: there actually only about a dozen to twenty different weather-patterns that any given day can have. I mean, take a look at this screenshot of the weather for my island: See how the 26th and the 30th both have "FineRain01" on the left? And notice how there's a drop of rain just after the line, then a partly cloudy icon, and then another drop of rain? That means that, on the 26th and the 20th, it'll rain from 12pm to 1pm, and then it'll stop raining for an hour and be partly cloudy, and then from 2pm to 3pm, it'll rain again. Every day that has the FineRain01 pattern will always have it rain 12pm-1pm and 2pm-3pm, and it'll never rain any other time of day. Most weather patterns don't even include any rain; they just have variations in how many clouds there are in the sky. For example, there's the Fine04 pattern, where it's mostly sunny from 5am-9am, then partly cloudy 9am-10am, then mostly sunny 10am-noon, and then completely clear from noon to 1pm. The 18th and the 21st are like that, and if you pay attention to the icons in the 18th's row and the 21st's row, you'll see the icons are exactly the same. The way MeteoNook works is: based on what times there are clouds, what kinds of clouds there are, and whether there's rain or not, it can figure out what weather-pattern a given day is. it takes several datapoints for it to figure out what the weather-pattern is; sometimes it only takes two datapoints, sometimes more. But if it can figure out the weather-pattern for enough days, it can narrow down the seed number for you island---and once you have the seed number, you'll know exactly what the weather will be, and exactly when the meteors will appear, literally down to the second! The devil is in the details, though: sometimes, you can look up and see a sky that might count as mostly sunny, or that might count as clear. Or you might see a sky that might count as mostly sunny, or it might count as partly cloudy. It's often hard to tell. I got that wrong plenty of times, myself, which gave me a lot of headaches and false positives. When in doubt, pick the either/or options that meteonook gives you: clear/sunny or sunny/cloudy are options that they give you while you're figuring out your seed number. If you happen to know exactly which minutes meteors have fallen on your island, that'll help Meteonook's algorithm even more. It was a pain to figure out my island's seed number at first, but once I did, it was very helpful, indeed. Before I forget, I'll have a high turnip price spike on my island tomorrow! @ExplosionMare (sorry for forgetting you!) @Will Guide @KirbyFluttershy @A French Derpy full of Salt @Eren Jeager We'll see which one of us gets the higher price -

What If There Are More Villain Reformations In G5?
HereComesTom replied to EpicEnergy's topic in MLP Generation 5 (G5)
Who knows? Centuries of loneliness might've made her more...pliable? If she's willing to do what others want instead of what she wants, that could be the beginning of her learning enough virtues to be redeemed, but...the thing-that-I-just-described is the sort of thing that'd happen over a season, not over a two-parter. -

What If There Are More Villain Reformations In G5?
HereComesTom replied to EpicEnergy's topic in MLP Generation 5 (G5)
Well, it kind of feels like the scope of G-5 won't be quite the same as G-4's...maybe? I mean, figuring out how to uncork magic is a pretty big feat, and two of the five main characters are royalty. But at the same time, G-4 started with the mane six getting bonded to the Elements of Harmony, which put a major responsibility on them and elevated them to the point where they became an important part of Equestria, and the pilot made it clear they were going to stay that way. That tied-to-the-world-ness of the mane six meant that they'd have big, powerful villains that they'd need to go up against. I'm not sure G-5 is going to bind the main five to the world like that; even if they uncork magic for unicorns, pegasi, and even earth ponies...that might not actually place a permanent responsibility on their shoulders like the G-4 pilot did for the mane six. G-5 may not even have villains of the same scope that G-4 did. -
G5 song titles revealed.
HereComesTom replied to CastletonSnob's topic in My Little Pony: A New Generation (2021)
I'm a bit surprised that "Danger Danger" is the second-to-last song. I mean, I thought the plot of the movie was going to get kicked off when the earth ponies in Maretime Bay threw Sunny and Izzy out, so that song would make more sense as the second song (or so) than as the second-to-last. -
I feel like it might also be simply a standalone book. I mean, you could base a short, or...maybe a 44-minute special around it, but it seems a bit too short for that. Though I think we've seen enough of the trailer to know that the main characters do travel to Bridlewood at some point in the movie, so CloudMistDragon might be right; it might simply be a segment of the movie.

Wouldn’t ponies be cause for mass extinction?
HereComesTom replied to ManaMinori's topic in MLP Generation 5 (G5)
That was my headcanon, too---I also had headcanon that it wasn't the real sun or the real moon that Celestia and Luna were moving: my headcanon was that the "sky" around Equestria (and just Equestria) was a dome that Discord created, and the sun and moon seen on that dome are just a couple of magical focuses on that dome that could be moved magically. I don't know if that's anything like reality---the 2017 movie implied otherwise, since the sun never moved after Celestia got imprisoned in stone. That...only raises more questions and calls more attention to the OP's point. Who knows? They might address it in G-5; I sure hope they do. It's got a lot of potential for drama and epic questing, considering the whole biosphere would be at stake! -

Strange---I know I had heavy showers the last time I opened my gate... Well, I know the showers are light this time...and that Celeste is here! @Will Guide @KirbyFluttershy @ExplosionMare @A French Derpy full of Salt @Eren Jeager Last time I saw her, she was in the northern hills, kind of in the middle-west-ish. Dodo code is 6JQ15 1D8XB Meteor timings, in USA Eastern time, are: 8:57pm 9:05pm, 9:19pm, 9:47pm, 9:55pm 10:51pm, 10:55pm, 10:56pm 11:04pm, 11:15pm, 11:23pm, 11:27pm, 11:30pm 12:14am, 12:17am, 12:30am, 12:53am 1:26am, 1:28am 2:36am, 2:39am, 2:59am 3:05am, 3:07am, 3:10am, 3:33am, 3:35am, 3:36am Also, I have a ludicrous number of DIY cards on my southern beaches---west of the store and just south of the museum. @KirbyFluttershy @Will Guide @ExplosionMare@Eren Jeager I'll have a heavy meteor shower in about six hours! I'll post the Dodo code once I open my gate. I won't know whether Celeste will be there or not until the meteor shower starts, but I think there's a pretty good chance she'll be here. EDIT: dodo code is 7S403 EDIT: Celeste is here, in the northern hills! She gave me a Leo Fragment for some reason---does that mean I have all the star recipes she can give me? -
Do You Think We'll See Other Species?
HereComesTom replied to Werewolveswithagenda's topic in MLP Generation 5 (G5)
I figure they'll draw in other species. If G-5 lasts as long as G-4, then probably every species seen in G-4 will get a chance to make an appearance, and then some---who knows? Bushwollies, Furbobs, Lava Demons, Ice Orcs, Lizard-folk, elves---any one of those from G-1 could make an appearance! But they do start introducing other species...odds are high that we won't see them right away: if Earth Ponies, Pegas, and Unicorns are xenophobic about each other, you can't expect them to be accepting of dragons, kirin, zebras, hyppogryphs, etc. At least, not at first. -
I can see why you'd say Luna should stick around for longer, and I agree in principle... But then again, what's the point of retiring one princess if the other sticks around? They won't get to spend time with their family that way. Personally, my problem with Celestia's and Luna's retirement is the fact that the thing that made Twilight so effective at protecting Equestria was the fact that she had such a close bond with her friends. That bond was strengthened by the time they spent together. Saddling Twilight with the responsibility of ruling all of Equestria would obliterate their ability to spend time together, and thus make Twilight less effective. At least, that's what most of G-4 led me to expect; if the decades-later finale was any indication, Twilight was still effective in spite of that lack of time...somehow.

Ranting About The Grogar twist.
HereComesTom replied to TheUnknownPhantom5's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
There were a lot of bronies who wanted Grogar to make a comeback---he was a very dark and effective G-1 villain, openly discussing enslaving human characters simply because they had hands! He wasn't the G-1 villain I'd wanted to see make a comeback; I was hoping for Hydia, Reeka, and Draggle to become villains who last at least a season, and whose machinations would drive either the A-plot or the B-plot of a majority of the season's episodes---most villains only appeared in an episode or two, and their appearances in between were few and generally not plot-centric. I'd hoped for those three witches because they had a good Vile Villain/Laughable Lackeys dynamic to them that would've worked really well with G-4. (I have to admit, I might just be raving about Grogar's Vile Villain/Laughable Lackey dynamic with Bray if I remembered more about Grogar, TBH). If they'd played up Hydia, Reeka, and Draggle's presence as if it were going to be huge, and then pulled the rug out from under that...I know I'd be upset! -
