It kind of feels like I'm the butt of the joke pretty often. Don't get me wrong; my life doesn't suck per se, but I do notice I'm the butt of the joke pretty regularly. For example, there was this one time when my brother and I were out to see a movie, and while we were in the theater's lobby, there was this cardboard ad for "Water Horse" (I'm really dating myself with this one). I noticed that this ad was set up so that there was a baby loch ness monster in a bathtub, and its flippers were over the edge of the tub, and it was looking at the audience with a big open-mouthed grin. And the bathtub-part of the cardboard ad was set forward a ways from the ad's background, which would allow kids to stand behind the bathtub-part and look like they were in the tub with the baby loch ness monster. Perfect Kodak moment! ...Boy, all that was a lot of context... Anyhow, I looked at that ad, and I said to my brother, "If I had a girlfriend, I'd make her stand inside that bathtub and pose like she's kissing the baby loch ness monster, then take a picture of it." My brother said to me "You'd make your girlfriend do THAT?" Intending to imply that I'd have a nerd for a girlfriend who would want to do this anyway, I said to him, "Well, this is MY hypothetical girlfriend we're talking about," And he interrupted, "Well, that makes her all the more hypothetical, doesn't it?!" ...Yep. Me. Butt of joke. Again.

...My life is a scripted sitcom! It could be worse, I suppose. At least this particular punchline is me getting 1.1 million bells instead of 1.4 million!

If I were running the marketing, I'd probably tie Hitch to playsets or larger objects, like vehicles or carts---pun only half-intended The fact is, his name and role would make it make more sense for him to have things like paddy wagons, sheriff's offices, or jails associated with him---and boys would be more likely to buy such toys. Who knows? Maybe the marketers are trying to puzzle out how to market ponies to boys; Guardians of Harmony seemed like an attempt that failed, and I don't think they want to repeat that.

Hard to say; part of the appeal is the fact that they're ponies. I mean, the world of Equestria is basically a human world adapted to horses, so it's very different and yet so familiar. Ponies still form a civilization despite not having opposable thumbs. Three types of ponies make for interesting dynamics and spreads of abilities. There's also a bit of "forbidden fruit" to it, in that most of us are too old or the wrong gender for that kind of thing---and the fact that it feels like it should be off-limits ironically makes it more appealing, at least when we're starting out. Of course, other species could accomplish all of this, too, so I'm not sure whether it would've been more popular or not.

Once you get your island up to 5 stars, Isabelle will give you the recipe for the golden watering can. I had to connect all parts of the island with bridges and ramps, then I had to add paths, fences in literally random places, lots of flowers and lots of trees to get it to that point.

Shoot; it was months and months ago...I grew a checkboard of black roses and continuously watered them with a golden watering can, then dug them up. If it was another black one, I'd throw it out to make space, and I'd keep the golden ones and plant those somewhere else---I guess the fields you found were the "somewhere else"! I kind of stopped paying attention to them at some point.

This is a bit off-topic, but...shoot, I was assuming that Hasbro would start trying out fur colors for the main characters that were very different from what they had in previous generations---things like dark high-saturation colors, like red and green and brown. I'm surprised that none of the main characters use any of those colors; actually their overall colors are quite a bit like the G-4 main characters' colors: orange, white, pastel purple, and pink are what we're actually getting. Don't get me wrong; on an individual level, they're distinguishable---in personalities and appearances. But when the inevitable crossover with G-4 happens, well, if all six of the mane six make the crossover, it might be a little hard to tell who's who in the also-inevitable big song number when they zoom out so all eleven characters are in the shot!

Nice, but I just purchased something from Redd just now---does that bar me from buying things from him if I visit your island? I remember that getting a DIY card from Celeste (who I'm currently searching for [EDIT: she doesn't seem to be here]) on one island bars you from getting another card from her on another island, at least if you visit her on the same night.

I kind of like the general idea of every nation having their own Tree. It reminds me of something from one of C. S. Lewis's novels, That Hideous Strength, where the characters are sort of discussing the denouement, and saying that every nation has its own set of virtues that need to be nurtured for them to truly be themselves. If each nation in Equestria's world has their own Tree, their own set of virtues from which they derive their magic, that'd be a beautiful thing, indeed. That being said, I do see some problems: 1) Harmony---which I define as "The Whole Is Greater Than The Sum Of The Parts"---is Equestria's thing. Other nations should have their own virtues; their trees shouldn't be called Trees of Harmony. 2) The Tree of Harmony in Everfree Forest had a specific event that led to its creation: it was created by the Seven Pillars. So what even led to the creation of the other Trees? Unless seeds of the original Tree of Harmony flew to and germinated in other countries, it doesn't make sense that the other Trees would even exist.

That might not be so bad if it's a concept that most viewers haven't seen. I mean, not every fan has seen G-1, G-3, or G-2 (I've seen a significant amount of G-1 and only a little G-2 and G-3), so they can probably get away with a recycled plot or two from previous generations. If they more than that, though, I'd take it as a sign of a problem.

There were times when social media didn't divide us as much as it does today, and I sure hope Pipp lives in a fantasy world where social media is what it was in the good old days. One thing I'd really like is if there's a message of unity in G-5: of unity in spite of differences in values, instead of differences in values dividing us. I mean, different people have different ideas of what's good, bad, morally neutral, and tolerable---and social media has divided us along those lines, teaching us to mistrust each other if we don't share the same values. But social media didn't always do that. Maybe this G-5 is going to acknowledge that, and teach us that it's okay to have different values, and that those values don't have to make us enemies.

I guess it depends on how he's used, and how often. He won't be the Spike who we remember---the centuries will have changed him. I mean, if there were some season finale or season premiere of the G-5 TV show that reintroduced him, or where he had a cameo, that might work. If he were showing us flashbacks in the form of telling stories he remembers, that might work. But there's wrong ways to do things, too. Honestly, in TV, it's not so much what you do as how you do it that determines success or failure.

My take on this is that the problem is how quickly they're doing this. I wouldn't mind if a great big story arc entailing several seasons led up to an event like this; that's how it was in G-4, and it worked. But doing this over the course of a single movie won't work unless either (a) the movie's timeframe is really long, or (b) she does something so amazing, she really does earn this. I thought of another possibility: what if this is a temporary transformation, rather than a permanent change? I mean, there's a little precedent for that in G-4's canon (Cozy Glow's transformation in the finale). If this were a temporary transformation, do you guys suppose that would that be okay?
