  1. Treasure gave a low whistle, eyeing the massive cart, then looked at Ochre with concern. "Wow. That's an awful lot of stuff. Do you want any help? I can carry some of it, or spell you or something." The old inkeep in Horseshoe Bay had been a taskmaster, but Treasure was used to hard work because of him. "I know I'm no draft horse, but I can help."
  2. "Treasure, please." The mare fell into step alongside the two stallions. "I'm not sure why I was brought along, honestly. I have a talent for finding lost items; maybe the island is lost, and I'm supposed to track it down that way? Otherwise, I don't know what I have to offer that any other, more local, wharf rat wouldn't." Turning to Tech, Treasure nodded. "Yes, we did. Those... Clockwork fillies you had with you. I'd never seen anything like them before, and I was curious. I have to admit, I didn't expect either of them to speak. How did you manage that? A spell worked into the metal, somehow? Or are you just a really good ventriloquist?" She laughed a little at the end, half-joking, but it was true that those two were beyond anything she had ever seen or heard of before. Well, short of drunken sailors' tales, anyway.
  3. "Treasure Trove," she replied, relieved, and shook Ochre's hoof gratefully. "I presume you're in charge of this little trip, then. Where exactly are we going? Just taking a trip into uncharted waters sounds... Dangerous." It sounded like fun, too, but Treasure kept that remark to herself. Her lack of desire to return home was not something likely shared, and it wasn't something she really wanted to discuss, anyway.
  4. Not used to being ignored, Treasure blinked in annoyance as the silver mare strode past her, then shrugged it off. Well, she looked like she was on a mission anyway, she thought to herself. I'm sure it was important. Maybe someone else can help me. "Hello," she called, boarding the ship. "Hey! Am I on the right boat or aren't I?"
  5. Treasure trotted down the pier, her pack slung between her shoulder-blades. "Hey," she called, peering through the early-morning fog at the cluster of ponies beside the ship at the end of the dock. "Are you guys the expedition I'm supposed to be joining? I never actually got a chance to talk to any of you." She came to a stop as a silver unicorn mare exited the ship. "My name's Treasure Trove. I believe I'm supposed to be on this journey?"
  6. Treasure strolled up to set a hoof on a stallion's shoulder. "Now, now, I don't think there's any need for fuss. In fact, I'm sure these gentlecolts were just leaving." She leaned in close to the stallion, her hoof tightening just a bit around his neck as she gave the best threatening smile she could. "Isn't that right, friend?"
  7. Treasure tried to hide her surprise as the clockwork fillies spoke. "Just wanted to say hello. You three seemed interesting. My name's Treasure Trove. I'm new in town, just come up from Horseshoe Bay, and while I haven't been too far from home, I haven't ever seen anything like these fillies. I was curious, and I wanted to meet you." Then the commotion over by the bar caught her attention. "Uh oh. Looks like I picked the wrong time to step away from the bar." She glanced at the three ponies beside her. "Uh, sorry to cut it short, but those mares are outnumbered. I'm gonna go see if I can lend a hoof." Treasure started towards the bar, calmly at first, but ready to run in if things went bad.
  8. Treasure slid the innkeeper the bits for the room and stretched as she stood up from the bar. Across the room, a stallion and two strange-looking pieces of... Clockwork? were headed up the stairs. Curious, Treasure bounded over, swerving to avoid a standing patron as she hurried to catch up. "Hey, wait!"
  9. Treasure waved a quiet thank-you to the strange mare as she left. "Dang," she muttered to herself, "I was hoping to talk to her. Oh well. She probably had a long day." She took a drink from the frosted mug in front of her. "Mm! Root beer's good here. That's something, at least. Maybe I should get a room for the night and stop talking to myself."
  10. Treasure Trove opened the tavern door slowly, trying to calm her nerves. She had never been so far from home before, but that odd letter had been mailed from this town. Besides, she'd take any excuse to escape the Barnacle. And if she could get out to sea, maybe she'd even find her father again. Treasure slipped inside and scanned the crowd. There, at the bar, was a half-familiar face. The mare had probably come into the Barnacle a time or two, so maybe she was friendly. Taking a deep breath, she squared her shoulders and strode over to the empty barstool next to the mare and her companion. The two seemed deep in conversation, so she waved the barkeep over and ordered a root beer to drink while she waited for an opening.
  11. Link to the Set-Up Silent Shade folded his wings and shot down through the canopy, berating himself. Of all the foolish, imbecilic things... Why did I allow myself to become separated from Her Lunar Highness? It is an honor to escort the Great Mother Moon in her duties tonight. And I, fool that I am, allowed myself to become distracted by a mere glow. His hooves hit the ground all at once, and the Nocturne glowered at the dirt while he folded his navy-blue wings against his dark flanks and huffed a angry sigh. A fire, I'd been afraid. There's no fire here, or anywhere else, and now I'm lost. It was true. Despite what many ponies said of the Nocturnes, they were as much a possible victim of the Everfree's malice and mischief as anypony else. Shade picked his head up and looked around. A Royal Night Guard such as himself shouldn't be sulking in the dark like this. He ought to be searching for landmarks of some kind, finding a way to either rejoin the Princess and the rest of his detail in Ponyville, or start making his way back to Canterlot for punishment. Unfortunately, flying above the canopy had been unhelpful; dark trees seemed to stretch on endlessly. His only hope was to find something he remembered from his youth, and use that as an anchor. He shrugged and set off down the path, trotting to rest his wings. ~ Pumpkin Spice fluttered excitedly between the trees. This was absolutely thrilling! Everypony had been talking about how dangerous the Everfree was supposed to be, especially on Nightmare Night, but they were probably just trying to scare the new mare in town. It really wasn't so bad, here in the heart of the forest, and the long, clawlike branches and crisp, foggy air gave the place such a foreboding, Nightmare-Night-infused air that the young Pegasus just loved. Fall had always been her season, and Nightmare Night was her favorite holiday. Pumpkin dropped to the ground to walk up to a particularly spooky-looking tree. She smiled and tapped the trunk with a dark orange hoof, her bright green eyes sparkling. "It's just a tree! That's all there is down here. Trees and fog. What were those ponies talking about?" She shook her head, her gold-and-auburn ponytail swinging. "Bunch'a sillies, trying to make me spend tonight curled up under my covers! Ha! I sure showed them, huh?" She stretched and popped her spine. "Well, I guess I'd better start for home; don't wanna miss any more of the block party." She stopped and looked around, realizing she'd wandered off the path and much deeper into the wood than she'd meant to. "Uh, which way is home, anyways?" Suddenly, a distant glimmer sprang to life, deep in the trees, like a window light coming on. "Oh!" Pumpkin oriented on it and started to trot after it. "That's one of the streetlamps. I'm not as deep in the forest as I thought I was."
  12. I dunno. Personally, I felt the Flutterponies were overrated. I mean, the whole 'Utter-Flutter' thing just struck me as... Overpowered. I'd like to see the Breezies turned into something a little more in-between what they are now and their Flutterpony predecessors. Not in G4, obviously, but maybe in G5 or G6. Does anybody else recall Scorpan turning into a human king of somesort at the end of 'Midnight Castle?' Maybe I'm just crazy, but it's something I seem to remember, and would like to confirm, if possible.
  13. 2. I'm an earthie! Yay! ...3. A male earthie. Less happy about that. I rather like being a girl. >:/ I'd probably just be living a normal life somewhere, writing and drawing and stuff.
  14. Yeah, but... If the show was going to go into how Celestia and Luna got their thrones, and what had happened before Discord's reign (as I've heard that Journal does) it was going to do it long after I was done writing it. Mostly I'm just kinda vexed about the timing; I know it's childish and silly, but... I've actually spent many zoned-out hours building things and working to keep them straight in my head. And when the tide knocks down a sandcastle that you've spent that long, that much effort in creating, doesn't one have the right to be sad, whether it was inevitable or not? A male adult dragon is still a male adult, and thus a man. Species isn't an issue when humans don't exist and there are multiple dominant species on the planet. However, I agree with you that they've all lost a little asymmetry and uniqueness as the show went on. There's been a lot that's been sacrificed for the sake of character development. And while I believe character development is extremely important in things like this, you can't remove what makes them them. AJ's lost a lot of her stubbornness, and Dash is more prone to panic attacks more befitting Twilight than she used to be. Fluttershy and Rarity are almost the same as they began, four seasons later, and Pinkie's the only one to move along a different track. A track that leads sideways into madness, but a track nonetheless.
  15. This actually... Doesn't look terrible. I'm skeptical about it, I'll admit, but I was about the last EqG movie, too. There's a whole heckuvalot of things I disagree with about this line in general, but the second movie looks as... Moderately interesting as the first. I'll probably see it, even if it's just to make sure I know what I'm griping about. 0_o ... To each their own, I guess...?
  16. I wouldn't call that 'sexist,' I'd call that 'being a little boy.' It's more to do with his self-image than any disrespect or belittlement towards the girls. Spike has nothing but respect for Twilight and her friends, and, presumably, mares as a whole. He grew out of that 'Eww, it's pink' phase as he got older. Are you saying Faust would have it so that Spike wouldn't be maturing and growing up over the course of the show? I've never read the books, but I always kinda figured they were only meant to be semi-canon, like the comics. I mean, they're kinda hard to get hold of, and shelling out tons of money for a potentially infinite source of 'canon' is kinda unreasonable. Plus, there's a lot in them that restricts or contradicts fanon that's been in place almost since the beginning, and I doubt most bronies have read them. Asking us to put away our histories that we spent months writing, or slap an AU tag on them, for the sake of a single book is... Painful. Those books have forced me to use an AU tag on my entire writing universe, just because my Earthies have more to them than strength, and that I can't really work this 'Alicorn Tribe' that everyone's making a fuss over in without a shoehorn and a sledgehammer. ... I'm veering off-topic. Sorry, it's just a bit of a sore point with me. There's a lot about them that has the the potential to be good, too, but that's for another thread. Anyway, I think we'd see more episodes focused on specific characters as individuals. Character development was really important to Faust, and we'd see things balance out more, maybe with secondary characters like Spike and the CMCs getting more screentime as individuals. A Granny Smith episode would be cool, I think, if handled correctly.
  17. Nom de Plume was the first OC I ever came up with, when I was first finding my way around the fandom, and I'm a little embarrassed to admit she was essentially just a self-insert. She was a writer, thus the name, which is French (I think?) for 'Name of the Pen,' or simply 'Penname.' As a way to honor her and what she started, I used the name on my FimFiction account. Her cutie mark is my avatar here, on FF, and on deviantART as well. It's kinda become my go-to username for all sites pony.
  18. A lot of things would become different, I think. We'd be seeing more G1 villains at the finales and premiers. Tirek would return, after Lauren had enough time to salvage him, and be the Nightmare King Satan-Horse he once was -- Once she could get him past corporate. She'd keep Twi's wings, but use her princesshood as an excuse to steer it in a more adventure-themed direction, with her becoming Equestria's prime defender. (As if she and the rest weren't already. Hah!) We'd definitely be seeing more history and worldbuilding, and there would be a lot of character development for the other five girls as well, not just this Sentai-syndrome thing we have going on right now.
  19. Ooooh, that sounds epic. I never watched the movie; I went straight from the pilot to the series. The Smooze was one of the reasons for that, I'll admit. I just... Couldn't take it seriously. Fanworks I've read/seen later, though, have made it seem a lot more terrifying. Neverending Story influences my nightmares to this day, BTW.
  20. If the packaging didn't say, I'd just make up a name for her. 'Tropic Breeze' or something.
