It's like sore throat, only the disease causing is trying to murder you and everyone around you instead of just annoying you with sickness. It won't kill you unless you have it repeating, but it is very contagious and you will need antibiotics.

It's most likely sore throat however. My advice is to get a check up on it just to be on the safe side if you can.
