I don't know which were the absolute best and worst but I liked Pikachu, Arcanine, Torterra and Bulbasaur a lot <3 Meanwhile, Mr. Mime and Aipom (specially the latter, those teeth are freaky). -

Why did the show never win an Emmy?

As much as I used to enjoy the show, I don't think it ever deserved an Emmy. It wasn't that unique or thought provoking or interesting to most people. -
I remember a bunch of these things since I became a brony in late 2011. Cadence wasn't even a character yet, Luna had just recently changed what she looked like, there were no hints of possibly making any of the mane 6 an alicorn, Pinkie only had 2 sisters and Derpy hadn't caused a controversy yet.
