  1. You've basically stated everything I have to say about both this special and the series as a whole at this point. I didn't hate this one. It could have been better in several ways but it was far from horrible. I agree that a regular series would do so much more for the potential of these characters in this alternate world and would open up so many possibilities for crossovers and unexplored ideas and character growth. But it will never happen. The creative license is so restricted and stunted. We're stuck with a lot of filler which ends up leaving me unsatisfied. Although, even with that said I'm still holding onto hope for one thing to happen in EqD... (Also, to everyone complaining about Rainbow Dash I don't feel like she was that annoying. She's allowed to have moments of imperfection. Geez.)
  2. It's funny because they make direct reference to the movie in the season 8 premiere talking about the Storm King and Tempest Shadow but not to Sci-Twi arriving in Equestria. Granted it wasn't as big an event. So the writers are really sticking to the idea of not directly making any references to EqG(besides the Sirens) in the show. Then again they may not have even known what was going to happen in Spring Breakdown at the time they finished School Daze. But canonically it's kind of funny. EqG just doesn't get the respect it deserves. lol
  3. Not trying to offend, but even with all of that sentimentality it does not mean the episode will be of good quality. More emotion doesn't equate to better execution. I'm skeptical about this one. There's precious little time left for the series and there's plenty of unanswered questions and unresolved issues still to be addressed. This is a waste, regardless of how poignant it may be for the actors involved. Plus I wasn't very impressed with Quibble Pants' debut. The subject matter would probably be more appealing to me if it were centred around a character I had invested more time in. But it could be really good. Season 9 hasn't had any really disappointing showings yet so maybe the streak will continue. We shall see.
  4. It's off to a way better start than some other seasons in the past. I thought every episode besides 'Uprooted' was better than average and even that one was passable(mostly because of Silverstream's singing). The Beginning of the End was a very dramatic start, moreso than what we've seen since probably season 5. So because of that I think it's only increased everyone's hype and expectations for big surprises and exciting developments. At least that's a feeling I've noticed in myself.
  5. Twilight: Same Fluttershy: Same Rainbow Dash: Flying/Fighting Applejack: Grass/Fighting Pinkie Pie: Normal/Rock Rarity: Steel/Psychic
  6. Premise was simple and fun though a lesson that Twilight could never really learn given how much it contradicts her basic personality. Pacing was off in the second half with way too many montages. But it was enjoyable enough with some good fanservice and cameos and pretty good jokes here and there. A lot of people seemed to be hoping for AF 2.0 but that's obviously not what we got. Still, I'd say season 9 is looking good so far.
  7. Solid dude this guy. Solid dude.

Yeah, I'm not sure exactly what I was implying with this but I'm still standing by it.

  11. Yikes. Talk about picking your poison. I guess I'd go with McDonalds. Only because they seem to have a wider selection and Burger King has really hone through a rough few last years where I live.
  12. "Retroactive Continuity, or retcon for short, is a literary device in which established facts in a fictional work are adjusted, ignored, or contradicted by a subsequently published work which breaks comtinuity with the former." - Wikipedia The simplest explanation is that it looks cooler. I would imagine Twilight might repair it in order to preserve its original form for posterity or future research regarding its magical properties.
  13. Why don't they bring them back? Why? For the love of Celestia just do this one thing right!
  14. Happy Birthday Flutterstep,

    You've got that forum rep,

Over fifteen-thousand brohoofs and you're just getting started, yep.

So I just thought I'd say,

    On this here Flutter's Day,

That I'd join in with Brony kin and give you one big yay!

  15. Well duh, that's what peak performance looks like.

Whoah. Uh, keep up the steady work man.

  17. Sigh. There really is no escaping this.

  18. Well, first of all the elements didn't actually make Twilight a princess. Well, maybe they did indirectly I guess. But Celestia was the one who oversaw that. The elements symbolize and empower the magic of her friendship but her wielding them was not the cause of her transformation per se. Honestly I'm still unclear what the logic to MMC was even after all this time. It also seems like you are implying the portal is somehow sentient like the Tree of Harmony. Which raises a lot of questions. I don't see why the magic that made Princess Twilight a princess would affect Sci-Twi in the human world but not in Equestria where it presumably originated. Saying "magic doesn't work the same" doesn't sound very convincing. But whatever. Your theory puts some images in a very different light. Is this technically assault? Somepony call an interdimensional doctor! It's bleeding!
  19. Well they clearly wanted this scene for the trailer. I don't have much feeling about it either way and don't see any reason to read into it beyond that. On one hand it's true that she had already transformed into a demonic entity and had post-traumatic stress from the incident as well fought evil magic multiple times. But this is still Twilight Sparkle we're talking about here. Freaking out is what she's all about. We should all know that by now.
  20. Got in a fight with a vending machine that stole my friend and insulted my money. It won. For now.
  21. It's a heavier subject than the show is ever likely to tackle directly in explicit detail. But with what we've have been shown I think the broad idea is that there is some sort of continuation, both symbolically and metaphysically of the 'souls' or 'spirits' of the departed. MLP doesn't strike me as taking the nihilistic avenue of 'death is death' but rather that no pony really knows and it's just one of the great mysteries of life in Equestria.
  22. I'd take the option even without the 'design yourself' option and 400 bits(is that a lot? I don't know Equestrian economics) but obviously I wouldn't turn it down. Not sure if I would go as my pony OC or not. But either way I'd jump on that opportunity. Well that makes it pretty easy I guess.
  23. I'd like to see another appearance of old stygy again. Particularly with Starswirl exploring Equestria and learning about friendship. So true. The underuse of Earth/Pegasus ponies is a shame. But kind of a humorous one.
  24. One day the true owner of this show will return and take her place on the throne! I agree, Vignette Valencia should have been executed. That's what you meant right? Money talks, gripers walk. There's a reason why some members of the writing staff have left the franchise(among others). The profit motive will not be denied!
