    I feel like I'm standing in a train station around people I have thoughts and interests in common with, but never know how to talk to- a when I try, I just make it awkward

      This one goes to you as well @PathfinderCS Don't let those kinds of fears hold you back, embarrassment / what other people might think, as the worst that can happen is someone thinking "well that was weird" which if you give it a bit of thought, it isn't a considerably large loss, especially when there are so many great people to meet and conversations to be had, should you hold yourself back out of fear, you may never find such people.
