  1. It's been a rough couple of days for me and my family. Buried my Gran today in a sad but peaceful service. Though the parting hurts, I carry a piece of her onwards inside of me.

Now it's time to get back on track. Still a lot to catch up on, but before any of that I think I just need a good nights sleep. Tomorrow is another day! :adorkable:

Pleasant evening to you all! May Luna watch over your dreams. :BrightMacContent:

Sorry about your Grandma. My own grandfather on my father's side passed on peacefully in 2010 and Grandma on my mother's side passed on in 2012. May my mother's spirit, who passed away, February 21, 2000 when I was 9 watch over your grandma's soul

It seems our oldest cat, Spooky, is due to go soon. Honestly when the last cat died, I was in preschool in the early to mid 90s. It's been so long. These are sad days, but they'll eventually turn into happy days again, right?

  3. Indecisive. One moment it's perfectly sunny and lovely, the next it's bucketing down with rain and high winds. Make up your darn mind out there! One thing that's difficult about living here is that you can never dress weather appropriately.
  4. Happy Birthday, Lighty! ¡Que te vaya bien! :D

Spain is the place to be for good parties. ;)

  5. This afternoon, I received word that my Dad's mother and my last surviving Grandparent had passed away.

She was 87 years old and in the advanced stages of Alzheimer's disease. There was very little left of her cognitive functions, and I'm told that she passed very suddenly and peacefully.

While my heart grieves for her loss, I can't help but feel a sense of comfort that she is finally at peace and free from that terrible disease. It honestly hurt more to see her as she was.

Rest in Peace, Grandma. You're in a better place now.

I'm sorry to hear that. I lost my last grandparent last year. It's never easy. My prayers will be with you and your family.

Thank you for your kind words, everyone. I really do appreciate it. It's never easy to go through, no matter how much you think you've accepted it. But I was blessed to know her for as long as I did.

She lives on through those memories. :)

  6. I've been laying in bed listening to rain on my window for a solid hour and a half now. I should probably try and sleep to it, maybe.

    Blissful evenings~

  10. I mean, I work in an old building that usually gets quite eerie at night, so I'm fairly used to things that might otherwise spook the average joe. The creepiest place I've been in at night was an old abandoned section of a hotel that we were scouting as theatre space during my time in college. The basement kitchens in particular were like something straight from a horror movie. I thought it was pretty neat.
  11. Don't wait for the world to shine a light upon you; be that light and shine bright for others. :)

  12. Good morning, forums!

One of the most fulfilling parts of my job is working with school groups and having that satisfaction of adding to their education and future development as children.

Unfortunately, I do get the occasional group who make it their mission to be as disruptive and disrespectful as possible, who don't seem to have been taught even one iota of self-discipline. In general, they make me question why I'm even bothering.

Today was one of those days. :worry:

What is it that you do?

I know it’s a lot easier to say this than to follow through, but think more of the ones who do listen and who do care for their future development. They’re the ones you’re really helping. Sooner or later the disrespectful or disruptive ones will Mostly realize how little their behavior will help them in the long run. I am sorry you had a rotten day. I hope tomorrow is better for you!

@Totally Nyx Heh. I wish. Though I usually carry an axe around with me as part of my reenactment gear. The group today just kept trying to grab it from me and egging me on to hit them. I very nearly could have. :lostit:

@Stone Cold Steve Tuna I am a tour guide and historical reenactor working at a heritage centre for Viking and Medieval history.

Yeah, I understand what you mean. The vast majority of school groups that come through are very well behaved or at least perfectly manageable once asked to listen. It can just be hard to try and focus on a few select kids who actually DO want to listen when the rest of them are making life as difficult as possible. Especially so if the teachers or guardians aren't being any help (which is honestly what really ticks me off). I accept that this is simply a part of my job and that my fellow guides and co-workers have to put up with them too, but some days it just takes more out of me and makes it hard to stay positive.

But I appreciate your feedback. Thanks for the advice. :)

Does Jonas live in your museum? ( @Alastor )

Note: live autocorrected to love. Because we all love our Viking pony pal. <3

  13. Time to hit the hay and catch some Z's. Enjoy the rest of your evening, friends, and see you in the morn'. ;)
