    Saffron glared at the Changeling Queen before she vanished. Typical of her to crash a party uninvited! "Well, she's in a particularly fine mood..." He said dryly. "I suppose she must see herself as the life of the party." Saffron turned to face the others. "Well, I suppose at this point, there's not much for it. Strength in numbers after all." He nodded and turned his attention back to Wolf Track. "Well, I'm glad I have you with me, Wolfie. I trust that acute sense of smell won't lead us astray. Though, uhh.. I hope you don't mind if I prefer to stay close to you specifically. Just in case we need to make a sudden getaway or something." The stallion gave a slightly sly yet confident smile as he took Wolf Track's outstretched hoof in a grip of trust. "Whatever that bug has in store for us, let's face it together."

    Saffron had to admit that he found Wolf Track's story to be a fascinating one. The Himaneighyans were not somewhere he had extensively explored; it was well known as being one of the more difficult to traverse regions of Equestria, and to think that Wolf Track had been raised there... Unfortunately, though he would have loved to question her further on this, fate had decided to intervene. "C-Chrysalis?! The Changeling Queen?" Saffron exclaimed, staying close to Wolf Track even as he instinctively tensed into a fighting stance, covering her flank-side from a back attack. "I though the invitations were from Silky and Vibrant!" As if to quickly answer his own question, he turned around at the sound of another Pony from behind... "You! So then... what's happened?" Saffron said, warily. He looked reluctant to approach Vibrant too eagerly. Turning back to Wolf Track and leaning in close so that only she could hear, he whispered: "Hey... if this is a Changeling attack, how can we be sure these aren't just Chrysalis' minions in disguise? Should we trust them, or try keep our distance and figure out what's going on ourselves...?" Until they could figure out what was going on, Saffron felt the only one he could implicitly trust right now was Wolf Track... at least, that's what his gut was telling him.

    @The Wife of Law Saffron took the hoof of Wolf Track with a slight grin of amusement. Her peculiarities aside, he had a feeling of sincerity about her. Maybe it was just the comment of him being "harmless". He supposed that was as good a description as any, though it may yet have been better to suggest "mostly harmless". "Well, I'm glad to make your acquaintance, Wolfie." He said to her warmly. "I'm Saffron. Saffron Shadow. I guess you could call me a bit of a wanderer. Traveling around investigating places of historical and archological interest at my leisure. Equestria is certainly full of fascinating wonders. I've been on a little break from my journeys for a while now, though. I suppose that's why I even got the invitation. Someone must've known I'd get hold of it." He paused for a moment, as though sizing Wolf Track up, then added: "Forgive me asking, but you don't seem like a pony from any particular parts I've been. Are you living far out? You seem a bit, ahh... wary of the crowds."

    I used to drink quite a lot of soda, but I've gone off it in recent times. Barely touch the stuff now except when I'm out at a social event or such. Not sure what happened...

    Saffron had been so busy preoccupied with the scenery and increasing volume of guests, he almost failed to notice the ever-enthusiastic @Princess Silky approach him with a snow-white mare in tow. He recognized her distinctive features almost immediately as the one from his invitational letter. "Wolf Track..." He thought to himself, noticing the rather stern, almost wary expression that she carried. She looked a bit apprehensive, though he thought he saw a hint of curiosity behind those ice-blue eyes. Placing his tea back to the table, he turned to the two with a warm and greeting smile. "Hello again, Silky." He said, before turning toward @The Wife of Law. He paused for a moment and pondered her curiously. Had he met her before? He felt a sense of familiarity with her that he couldn't quite place... a distant memory from the past, perhaps. He just couldn't be sure. "You must be Wolf Tracks; it's a pleasure! I'm Saffron." He said after a few moments with sincerity. "I'm sorry if I can't quite place your name, but I thought for a moment it seemed known to me. Like we'd had a chance encounter somewhere once before." He admitted a little sheepishly. "I suppose I've always struggled a bit with remembering names and faces. I'm sure I've encountered more than half the ponies here already." He chuckled, before adding: "It seems that Silky here believes we have a date with destiny, if the invitations we both received are anything to go by. Though I admit I'm just as confused by what that means as I suppose you are."

    Saffron blinked, unsure exactly what @Princess Silky meant with her rather sudden question. "Uhh... fate?" He responded in a quizative tone, though he had understood her just fine. After a brief moment to gather his thoughts, he said: "Well, I don't discard the possibility that forces beyond our perception could be influencing our lives somewhat." He admitted, gazing into his tea. "But I've learned that it may not always be something favourable. The Universe has a funny way of keeping balance." Saffron gave a shrug and drank deeply from his cup, before adding: "But we also don't have to accept what fate may have in store for us. We can change anything if we put the effort in." He turned to Silky and smiled warmly again. "Though, it is a nice feeling when it seems fate is on your side."

    Saffron couldn't help but smile as @Princess Silky recounted their past encounters. Just like then, she knew just what to say in the moment to lift his spirits. "A lot better, thank you Silky." The Stallion replied affirmatively. "Truth be told, this gathering is just what I needed. A chance to get away from my work for a while, goodness knows it could do without me for a day or two." He chuckled, and took a deep breath of the cool night air. "But you're right, this evening is for something different. Wolf Track... maybe there could be something there. She's certainly a mare I wouldn't forget it a hurry." Saffron mused, drawn to her particular features and striking white coat. "Though I'm surprised I don't think I've spoken to her before." Keeping himself occupied, Saffron poured a cup of tea and continued to read over the letter.

    Parties weren't typically Saffron's scene, but the stallion had to admit he was feeling a little jovial at the sight of the decorated garden, packed with a delicious looking banquet of food and busy looking ponies going about their tasks. He supposed they all must have been invited here by their letter-bearing hosts; Silky and Vibrant. Seems like they certainly knew how to throw a reception. He almost felt like he should've brought some silverware of his own! Still, he knew the party itself wasn't only what he was here for. Saffron took out the letter that had been sent to him, carefully combing it over once again... "Wolf Track." He reminded himself of the name. A nice, memorable name, and he found himself wondering if he had crossed paths with her before... Perhaps? There were a lot of names and faces to remember in Equestria. In any case, he felt a little eager to meet her face to face. @The Wife of Law
