  1. Every single time I watched The Two Towers or Return of the King, because I always skip the parts with Frodo in them. Yeah, I know, he's the main character, I just don't care about him. So I use the scene selection to start at the right scene, and then the chapter-skip feature to skip those parts of the movies.
  2. It's never too late to get into anything, the only thing that might be a problem is that a lot of things you might consider spoilers are openly talked about by everyone else because it's been years. But most series I watched I've gotten into years after they finished, or at least when they already had a large number of seasons. IN all honesty, though, I don't care if a series still has a living fandom. Aside from with MLP and Pokemon, I don't usually engage with the fandoms of series I like at all.
  3. I can't name any of the names of the people in the bands I like, even though I know most of their songs. If I see a song by another band with 'feat. <name>' behind it, I usually have no idea who it is until I recognize the voice. But there's no difference for me between pony music and regular music; the only reason I know what BlackGryph0n looks like is because I've seen him in Bronies React.
  4. I'm probably a minority here, but I really don't believe it'd help me. Every psychologist or therapist I've spoken to just says things I already know, and the validation they give doesn't feel right. Maybe I'm just too cynical, but I'll stick to talking to friends about my problems, if I do at all. The few times I've tried it didn't give me any new insights and mainly served to frustrate me more, so I'll pass.
  5. With a high school friend I had "Vijf euro is wel duur he" (Five euros is quite expensive, isn't it), which was just something an old lady once said to us when we were hanging out in town browsing manga, and we thought it was funny so we kept saying it. At our fencing club we have 'groene vestjes' (green vests), which refers to our club colors, and to someone's angry remark about the number of them at a certain competition.
  6. I think it's at least safer than Google or Bing, in the sense that I believe their word on not storing identifiable information on you. However, a lot of the sites they link to will still use Google analytics and other trackers, so even though the search term itself is more obscure to Google, whatever you end up viewing is still going to end up known to them. My go-to approach online is that several companies will know what you're doing no matter what. If you want to make it slightly harder for them, use things like VPNs and ad-blockers and Ghostery or something similar. True anonymity online is a bit of a pipe dream, I think.
  7. I have a 2008 Citroen C1. It used to be my mom's, and when she died it became mine. I'm going to continue driving it until it's completely worn out. It's a really useful car; I can actually take four passengers in it (though that forces me to take speed bumps at a near standstill) and I can park it pretty much anywhere.
  8. I like her because she's different enough from Princess Twilight to be her own person, which is something I sometimes miss in the other Humane characters. I'll always prefer Princess Twilight, though, especially as a shipping partner for Sunset.
  9. I don't really know what my favorite game is, exactly, so here's some moments from games that have a good claim to the title: - High Lord Wolnir in DS3. Stupid gimmicky boss in an otherwise great game. - Nearly every single minigame in Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. I love both games, but going for the 100% is always a chore. - Not being allowed to kill Delphine in Skyrim. - The platforming sections in Doom Eternal - The Khan Maykr boss fight in Doom Eternal Honorable mentions that are always the worst part of any game they appear in: - Any forced stealth section that you instantly fail upon detection - Anything with an arbitrary time limit - 'cinematic' camera angles that change at the worst possible moments.
  10. The first games that come to mind for me are the Legacy of Kain games. Great lore, great, complex story, the best voice acting I've ever heard in a video game...but any hope for a sequel to Defiance is quite dead, since it's been fifteen years since the last game.
  11. Here's hoping he managed to upload his brain into one of his many, many robots before he died. He was a great host on Mythbusters, sad that he died so young.
  12. Any kind of mantis, or a stag beetle. Dragonflies are cool too, actually. Disclaimer: while I think all of these insects are really cool, I really wouldn't want to have any of them on me, and if one would fly directly at my face I'd run away screaming, probably.
  13. Duckduckgo is pretty good, like others have said, for privacy. Other than that, I really just use Google, though.
  14. Go for it. If you've been practicing all your life and love doing it, then just keep trying until you succeed. It's definitely what I'm trying to do right now. No clue if I'm good enough, but I am going to get a book published one day, even if I have to do it myself. If it's something you're passionate about, don't let anyone stop you and keep on trying.
  15. I don't. I've been lightly buzzed twice in my life, and I absolutely hated it both times. I can't understand why people enjoy that feeling. That's not to say all drinks with alcohol in them taste bad, I just don't drink them because of the alcohol. I genuinely don't like the taste of beer and whiskey, though, and I've tried several kinds of each to make sure.
  16. Big, huge thunderstorms. I love the lightning and the rolling sound of the thunder. It's one of the things in nature that I consider to be truly awesome, in the old sense of the word.
  17. I heard that if you used Surf next to the SS Anne in Pokemon RBY and then used Strength on the truck there, you'd find a Mew. The truck is actually there, Mew isn't. (Though I did later find the real Mew glitch online)
  18. Lots of things that probably aren't family friendly to share.
  19. Night one, stay awake. Night two, keep my epee in my bed and poke their eyes out. I'd say 'keep a knife nearby' but since I don't have the space to put anything next to my bed and I'd rather not have anything sharp next to my head when I'm asleep I don't have much of a choice. Fortunately for me, I don't actually have a closet, I have shelves, so I only have to worry about monsters beneath the bed.
  20. When I was young, a lot of shows were subtitled and a few were dubbed, but nowadays it seems like everything just gets dubbed. Bit of a shame, since I learned English mainly by listening to what was being said while reading the subtitles.
  21. None, as far as I know. I've been to exactly one brony convention in my life, so I'm sure I've walked past some other members there, but I don't know any of them.
  22. It kind of depends on how well the fanfic is written. Some are much, much better than a lot of books out there, so there's no real reason why they wouldn't be a good substitute, but others have such atrocious spelling and grammar that reading them is almost physically painful, in addition to often having ludicrously stupid plots.
  23. Nope, not one bit. I'm young and healthy enough that it doesn't matter to me if I get it, so are my friends, and I've never been one to go out a lot anyway so my risk wasn't all that high.
  24. Part of it is mutual understanding. The rest...I don't know, really. It just works, somehow.
