  1. Umm....what the actual f***? Looks like AJ has finally lost it. She needs a day off.
  2. I've read before that Faust was planning to give goals to Pinkie, AJ, and Flutters, which would have been wrapped up by Magical Mystery Cure. She didn't specify what those goals would have been, though, and she probably didn't know herself before she eventually left. It's entirely possible she wouldn't have gone through with it in the end, but even still, what that tells me is that there was at least one person who was interested in doing something with those three. Each of them could have easily developed goals by now, but none of the writers have apparently cared enough to do so, which is particularly frustrating when you consider that Twilight apparently still isn't finished receiving one reward after another.
  3. Never will I understand this fandom's vilification of Faust. The truth is that we will never know how the show would have turned out had she remained with it. So what if she had a few ideas that we only perceive to be bad ones? That kind of thing actually tends to happen during the development of a show. When a show is being made, no one knows for sure how it's going to turn out. So creators tend to experiment with ideas, and many of them don't end up going through in the end (although many of them do). Perhaps the show would have been better off with her gone. We don't know that for sure. However, what I do know for sure is that with Faust gone, we have likely missed out on Applejack, Pinkie Pie, or Fluttershy ever getting goals in the show. Supposedly, Faust's original plan was that Magical Mystery Cure would have finally wrapped Twilight up to conclude a season that would wrapped up ALL the mane six. She would have introduced goals for the three goalless members of the mane six, and then season 3 would have been spent having the mane six achieve those goals, as well as having the CMC get their cutie marks. Yet Faust left, and Applejack, Fluttershy, and Pinkie Pie have instead remained just as goalless as they were from episode one. Even after all this time has passed, no one has ever bothered giving them something to strive for. I can't help but find that annoying because I really don't want them to come away from this show completely empty-handed (figuratively speaking), but it sadly seems that they will. In any case, saying that Faust leaving is "the best thing that could have happened to the show" is both flawed and ignorant. Because you DON'T know that, and you CAN'T know that. So it really irks me to see people in the fandom giving her so much unwarranted hate.

  5. It always comes down to the Illuminati, doesn't it?
  6. Now that Starlight has failed to appear in two episodes that have featured all of the mane six, I do not believe there's any reason whatsoever to proclaim her as the "mane seventh," or even a main character at all. And with the nature of the appearances she's made thus far, I think it's finally clear just what her role is. I no longer believe that she's been included into the cast so that she could learn about friendship. Her friendship studies and her efforts to become a better, non-psychopathic person are only secondary to her true role. I think that she's been included primarily for the sake of developing Twilight further, now that she's taken on the role of a teacher. I believe that Starlight has only been made a recurring character purely for Twilight's sake rather than anyone else's, including her own. Little effort has been made to include Starlight among the mane six, something that would actually be important if she were intended to be a main character. I can't help but find it particularly striking that she wasn't present when Rainbow Dash was officially inducted into the Wonderbolts, an event so important that even the CMC were present for it. Each of them knew exactly how much fulfilling that dream matter to Rainbow Dash, and yet as we saw, Starlight apparently could not have been bothered to show her support. Nor, apparently, could she have been bothered to be present to assist opening Rarity's new boutique. These were clearly two ideal episodes that could have displayed her closeness with the mane five, and yet both were needlessly squandered. Overall, it just feels like Starlight is NOT the mane five's friend. She's only Twilight's friend. (And Spike's, too, I guess.) This could be improved if we end up seeing more interaction between her in the mane five, but that would probably mean that she would have to have an episode in which she's independent of Twilight, and I'm really not sure whether or not that will happen. This could honestly end up going either way, but suddenly, I do not feel that it is beyond possibility that Starlight will no longer be a mainstay after this season (assuming that this season isn't the last, that is). It seems entirely possible that Starlight's absences from mane six ensemble episodes may be the staff's way of keeping our expectations in check by implying that Starlight will not be in this for the long haul. She might end up moving out of Twilight's castle and returning to her town, now with an entirely new outlook on friendship. That wouldn't particularly mean she'll be removed from the show entirely. Her secondary status might be similar to Discord's in which she would show up on occasion. Or, of course, this could end up going in the opposite direction in which Starlight receives her own Element and/or becomes an alicorn princess in the season finale. We'll just have to see....
  7. Saddle Row was fantastic. =)

  8. Hm. After Newbie Dash, I was convinced that if Starlight did not appear in only one more episode that featured all the mane six, there was no reason at all to consider her a main character. And look who doesn't appear to be present...
  9. Well, at least I made it further this time. *adds Troblems and Unstoppable Link to kill list alongside PonyLaces*
  10. Umm, no, she was definitely evil by definition. She showed that she was more than willing to kill and harm others to suit herself, and we all must clearly be "brainwashed by society standards" to consider those actions to be unacceptable. They cannot be explained as anything more than her being a textbook sociopath with a startling lack of empathy for others. As for the rest of her views, they're clearly the mindset of someone who has a tendency to take things to an extreme, which is actually common for those with mental disorders. And her wanting revenge on Twilight clearly shows that she has no capacity for accepting responsibility, since she would have rather blamed Twilight for causing her own little utopia to crumble rather than acknowledge that there was anything wrong in forcefully brainwashing others to accept her views. Oh, and I also just have to say that I don't believe there's any way you could possibly justify Twilight not being a stereotype if you truly believe that the mane five are.
  11. Re-watched The Gift of Maud Pie and am still convinced that it's a terrible episode. Rarity is clearly dumbed down just for Maud's sake.

  12. There's hardly anything "natural" about that. That could only be considered "natural" for someone with severe mental health disorders, and that's exactly what Starlight's true problem is. *shrugs* I think she's incredibly overrated and don't care for her much at all. Plus, she was hands down the dumbest and most nonsensical villain we've ever seen in both FiM and EG.
  13. Starlight and Sunset are not comparable. They have nowhere close to the same status. In fact, at this point, I'm sincerely doubting Starlight's status as a main character. Sunset, on the other hand, is the only main character of Equestria Girls.
  14. A third into the season and Starlight's baggage is still being held over her head. Not sure what there is to be gained in constantly reminding us that she used to be a villain each and every time she appears.

It would, as if getting tormented by pony snape wasn't bad enough for her.

  16. Too bad we missed the potentially awkwardish scene between Twilight and Starlight as they waited for him. Twilight: "So, umm, are you ready for your inevitable change of heart yet?" Starlight: "Eh...I'm getting there."
  17. You must be joking... Flight to the Finish had to have been the single greatest first episode from a new writer there's ever been in the show.
  18. Possibly the biggest flaw of the episode is that it's nowhere near Christmas. =( I'm totally in the Christmas spirit right now...

Aye and the story has been done before in FIM. Still best episode of the season and can easily go among the best episodes list.

  21. Welp, looks like she's evil again. Can't say I didn't see this coming... :awuh:
  22. Saw this coming from miles away. I knew we would have to compensate for the hiatus between seasons 5 and 6 being so short.
  23. I'm not seeing why a crossover between FiM and EqG is necessary in the slightest. The only thing anyone even wants out of it anyway is Sunset Shimmer coming back to Equestria either on a temporary or permanent basis, but ultimately, what's the point? The only thing she has to gain from returning is amending her relationship with Celestia. Once that's done, what else does she have? She can't just jump right into the show, since as I've said several times, the mane five do not know her as anything more than the thief who stole Twilight's crown in the first film, and I think that this makes her incapable of fitting into even a secondary character role. The inclusion of Starlight even makes it all the more difficult for her to fit in. And besides, she can't return to Equestria permanently anyway. She's the only main character of the film series, and thus she has no ability to abandon them unless they end. But I kinda doubt that's happening anytime soon.
  24. 1. Gauntlet of Fire - At this point, I'm sure this will go on to be one of my top 5 episodes of the season. 2. On Your Marks - I was admittedly expecting more from the CMC's first episode after getting their marks, but this was still a fine episode regardless. 3. No Second Prances - Trixie and Starlight worked well together, and that's about the only positive I can think of. The episode would have worked better towards the end of the season, after Starlight had plenty of time to develop and Twilight's lack of trust in her would have been less warranted. Yet something rubs me the wrong way about Starlight thinking that there's nothing wrong with using magic to control others (and even more concerning, she mentions this to be her "first instinct"), while Twilight is still guilt-tripped over not trusting her. 4. The Gift of Maud Pie - I still believe the episode would have turned out better if either Rarity or Maud were absent. Having them both together really brought the episode down for me. In particular, I thought that Rarity was dumbed down just for Maud's sake. But Pinkie was great, at least. 5. The Crystalling - Still not a fan of this for several reasons. 6. Newbie Dash - I honestly couldn't think of a more unfulfilling episode to close out Dash's one and only goal in the show. The premise itself wasn't bad, but the execution was beyond terrible.
