  1. Sorry to see you go, and especially after you were treated so unfairly. On another note, I knew I shouldn't have waited so damn long to ask for a sig.... ;(
  2. Yeah, I really, really don't like Mother or Father's day for reasons just like this. It implies that each of us are close enough to our parents that we should all collectively set aside a day for them, but how about those of us with abusive parents, or those of us whose parents have died? All this holiday really serves to do for them is shove those unpleasant feelings back in their faces.
  3. If we're going to keep seeing the mane six acting like Pinkie this season, I hope Applejack will be next!

  4. ATTENTION RARITY FANS!!!!! Our beloved fashionista needs your support! http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/203-cartoons-and-animation/73704641 Unfortunately, this contest is only open to those with registered accounts, but it used to be set up so that guests could vote. The contest creator has consistently bent the rules to suit his own biases, so if Rarity wins here, it would really stick it to him. So those of you with GameFAQs accounts, show Rarity your support!!! And if you don't have one, consider creating one for this cause! Please...?
  5. Harumph!!!! Yeah...thanks for killing me. =P
  6. I can barely get over how terrible this episode was. The very goal Rainbow Dash has been working towards since episode one has finally been fulfilled in the most unspectacular way imaginable, giving a very good example as to why you don't give milestone episodes to new writers. PERIOD. First off, this episode seemed to go out of its way to imply that the influence Rainbow Dash has had on the Wonderbolts over the last few seasons to change their ways ultimately went nowhere. They're still jerkish and unpleasant, and it seems really insulting that they don't show Rainbow Dash any of the respect we know that she earned from them in the previous seasons. The fact that they commonly refer to each other by embarrassing nicknames does not vindicate them for running Rainbow into the ground for the entire episode after she made just one mistake. They can't just snap back to saying "Yeah, Rainbow Dash, we totally respect you" after spending the entire episode implying just the opposite. The imitation scene: pointless and cringeworthy filler. The episode utterly fails to give me any reason whatsoever has to why Rainbow Dash has it in her head that imitating her friends to the Wonderbolts will improve her reputation in any way. Seriously, I cannot even begin to understand the logic behind this, and that's honestly because there is none. This scene was only included because the writer thought it would be funny, I guess, but it's not. It's hard to watch. It's like watching her deliberately injure herself just to get others to laugh. I'm honestly guessing that the scene was inspired by Dash's brief imitation of Twilight in The Lost Treasure of Griffonstone, but there are two very good reasons as to why that scene was actually funny while this one was not: 1. The reason as to why Rainbow was doing it was clear. She was simply mocking Twilight for her attempts to micromanage their mission without even being there. Meanwhile, there is no reason given as to why she mocks her friends to the Wonderbolts. There is no context, no reasoning, no justification, and thus it ultimately comes across as Rainbow Dash acting embarrassingly out of character towards the very ponies she has respected for so long. 2. It didn't go on longer than it needed to. Seriously, if the joke in this episode was funny at all, it certainly stopped being funny after she imitated Pinkie. Everything beyond that was simply painful to watch as well as pointless filler, since we as the viewers know that this is doing absolutely nothing for her but digging her hole even deeper. Like the last episode, this episode was in serious need of better execution. There honestly was a good premise to work with concerning Rainbow Dash feeling intimidated at the notion of flying with ponies who actually are at her level. This is something we could have gotten had this episode been written for last season while Larson and AKR were still on the staff. With either of them, this could have something thematically meaningful, much like Canterlot Boutique, Amending Fences, and Crusaders of the Lost Mark. I guess we know how much the show is suffering without them...
  7. I'd say it's filler because we know right from the start that none of her imitations will be well-received, and will only serve the purpose of digging her hole even deeper. The scene obviously accomplishes nothing else, and yes, the joke falls so insanely flat that it may as well not have even been attempted at all.
  8. Newbie Dash = Probably the worst episode of season 6 thus far. Who was the genius that decided to give a milestone episode for Dash to a new writer?

What, I consider this one of the better episodes so far this season

I'm going to re-watch it soon, but there are most definitely a ton of damaging flaws.

@Nuke, I feel this episode is gonna be all over the place. It definitely has it's strong strengths and weak weaknesses

  9. Not to mention that scene was the very definition of pointless filler.
  10. Used to love Cinco de Mayo. Mostly because it always signified one week before my birthday... =(

  11. Really annoyed by the new crusade to reveal Elsa as a lesbian in Frozen 2. I'm sorry members of the LGBT community, but Disney does not need to pander to you.

@Kyoshi: I wouldn't be against Disney representing the LGBT community more, but it's just WAAAY to big of a leap to start with Elsa. Another reason she's probably being targeted is because "Let It Go" has often been viewed as a song with the theme of coming out of the closet, so to speak.

    3. Kyoshi

      Kyoshi

That doesn't seem like a problem to me. Would it change her personality any? Her likability? I have not seen the movie so I don't know what she is like, but I don't see how her being LGBT would be a negative impact.

    4. Megas

      Megas

lol there's literally zero reason for her to be one

  12. The very conception of Guardians of Harmony just screams "trying too hard." Yeah, let's just go ahead and take the show we love, drop the themes of friendship, and replace it with a ton of pointless action and violence because this is clearly the ONLY way we can get boys to buy ponies.
  13. I have absolutely no idea, and to date, I think that getting rid of him was one of the biggest mistakes the show staff has made by far. To quote one of my most-broohoofed posts:
  14. The problem isn't that Starlight still possess psychopathic tendencies. The problem is that she somehow has the mane six's undying trust, which she clearly doesn't deserve.

    1. Castle Bleck

      Castle Bleck

To be fair, No Second Prances demonstrated some lingering shakiness in said trust.

  15. This. This scene simply displayed that Starlight still has very little regard for the feelings of those around her, and thus her psychopathic tendencies have not been eradicated entirely. And that's fine, honestly. It's far too unrealistic to assume that her severe mental issues can be fixed with only friendship. The problem I truly have is that the mane six apparently trust her at this point, even though she possess a belief that controlling others to serve only herself is not a wrong or immoral thing to do. And if that's the case, she is not worthy of anyone's trust. Hell, what reason does Applejack even have to trust her again now?
  16. I often protest how much Twilight exerts her power over others, but even she's never done something that bad. Remind me again how exactly Starlight earned Twilight (and the mane five's) trust when she still apparently thinks that forcefully controlling people with magic isn't considered a wrong thing to do? Applejack at least has very little reason to trust her anymore.
  17. Show magic or not, I'd really like to know how the hell can you live after being chewed up and swallowed?

    1. Ziggy + Angel + Rain

      Ziggy + Angel + Rain

      It's all done with mirrors.

  18. Bottom line: If Starlight isn't a psychopath anymore, STOP making her seem like one.

    1. Ziggy + Angel + Rain

      Ziggy + Angel + Rain

She kind of is still. Her not-so-subtle references to the villain-type stuff she did in season five CONTINUE to hurt the whole "reformation" deal.

    2. Cleverclover

      Cleverclover

I agree. She shouldn't be making jokes about it.

  19. I think there was a lot of potential in this episode, but it ultimately disappointed. For one thing, I think it is way too early in the season for an episode where Twilight is portrayed as in the wrong for not trusting Starlight, who, less than ten episodes ago, attempted to kill her. Perhaps after a long season in which she learns several friendship lessons, this it would have fit a lot better. But for her second episode in the show, it simply doesn't work. What just makes this all the more insulting to me is how we're apparently supposed to ignore Starlight's impulsiveness earlier in the episode. Perhaps I could have looked past her using magic to set the table directly after Twilight told her not to, but casting a spell on Big Mac to force him to talk?!?!! This clearly shows how abusive and controlling she still is, and it vindicates Twilight's concerns BEFORE THE EPISODE EVEN INTRODUCES THEM!!!!! SHE DIDN'T EVEN THINK SHE DID ANYTHING WRONG!!!!! She promptly justified this action by stating that she couldn't make friends with Big Mac if he didn't talk. I'm sorry, but if she's not at the point where she doesn't know that exerting power over others is wrong, then she truly cannot be trusted. And yet, the episode still goes out of its way to portray Twilight in the wrong for not trusting her!??!!?!?!?!??! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?!?!? Wrong, wrong, wrong. How about the writers actually stop trying to imply that Starlight is still a psychopath before we have an episode like this where Twilight's trust in her is put to the test? Things like this do not help her to gain our trust as viewers, nor does things like her joking about enslaving the entire town to make friends with them. It's not funny. It's just more fuel to the fire as to why she can't be trusted. She should be trying to move past those actions, and not make stupid jokes about them. As for Trixie, I really don't see what the point was of making her play both sides in this episode. She apparently wanted to apologize to Ponyville, but she really did not seem to be genuine about it in the slightest.
  20. Awww poor wittle Starlight isn't trusted after all. Too bad she gave me a VERY legitimate reason why by her impulsive actions earlier in this very episode....

    1. Dark Qiviut

      Dark Qiviut

If you're talking about Starlight changing BM, that was treated as wrong. AJ was furious and wouldn't put up with any nonsense. Given the context in this case, it can slide.

    2. Cleverclover

      Cleverclover

What I can't let slide is that it implies Starlight is still impulsively controlling, which is a problem. She does not deserve anyone's trust if she couldn't see for herself that it was wrong for her to do that. And yet, why is Twilight so vilified for not trusting her again?

    3. Dark Qiviut

      Dark Qiviut

The problem here is she didn't trust Starlight because she still believed Trixie was a terrible influence, not because of the other scenes (which she never witnessed).

  21. Tomorrow's episode had damn well better include all the mane five and see how they interact with Starlight. This is IMPORTANT, damn it!

Sadly I don't think it'll happen. Just Trixie and Starlight stuff I guess.

Nah, I think it's more likely that they will, actually. At least to give their opinions on Trixie.

  22. Um, wow.... Can't decide whether you're a shameless bigot or simply one who generalizes a bit too much. I'm actually leaning towards the former, given that Applejack is nothing like the gun-toting "white trash" Southerners I assume you're referring to, and thus you simply dislike her for being what she is.
  23. This doesn't sound too interesting, but at least we know Fluttershy will be getting one episode. Here's to hoping she'll get more focus this season.
  24. My birthday is in about two weeks now. *sighs* I sure am nostalgic for the time when I couldn't wait for it to come. Now it just leaves me with the feeling of getting old.

Happens to the lot of us; though I prefer to see it as the gathering of experience and life lessons. :)

  25. As of right now, I'm under the impression that Starlight's inclusion into the cast offers the mane five absolutely nothing. Twilight is given a student, and thus receives more room to develop and grow. But I can't help but wonder how much involvement the mane five will have in Starlight's arc, since after all, she's Twilight's student and not theirs. Hell, we haven't even been able to properly gauge their dynamic with her, which I would think would be important for the writers to do, especially since we are expected to believe that the mane five actually trust Starlight now. But if their involvement is minimal, then what exactly does Starlight offer them? Another character to play second fiddle to and steal their focus and spotlight away? Anyway, this is how I feel as of now.
