Wait, Celestia can basically turn anypony she desires in an alicorn, correct? Okay, so if that's the case; why doesn't she turn the Royal Guards into alicorns, thus making them more efficient and effective in combating any type of enemies and defending the citizens of Equestria?
Perhaps and it is a fair point of how the Equestria guards could've served as Alicorns in some form. However, the Alicorns we've seen on the show have become princesses or leaders while needing to do a magic feat to do, implying there are some limit, even a flimsy one.
