An interesting villain motivation, to me at least, would be his affection for the female lead/love interest. Like, he's genuinely in love with her, and wants her by his side above all other devious priorities, oh hell, it's his only priority.

Glad I'm not the only one x) they could be reading and I'd find the ways their eyes move across the page, taking in some imaginary story, cute. Id find the way they react to things that they are excited about (like a film they have been waiting for or catching up with an old friend) cute. ^.^" stuff like that can make a gradual love seem more real in fiction, well in my opinion anyway c:
