    An interesting villain motivation, to me at least, would be his affection for the female lead/love interest. Like, he's genuinely in love with her, and wants her by his side above all other devious priorities, oh hell, it's his only priority.

      The "love scenes" were awful, laughable and plain stupid; nothing any functioning human being would ever say or do. Their so-called relationship wasn't healthy in the least, and it bordered around obsession on Anakin's part. And I think, Neon, perhaps through simple interaction, trying to understand one another, or even accidentally saving one another's life; though you don't need something special or impacting to occur for love to start blooming.
