A tremor of imbalance, spreading through the core and its landscapes to affect the countless populace which occupies the fields, the mountains, the sea and deserts. All who could either wield magic or acknowledge its might would experience apprehension, at the growing darkness soon to come.
    And on the coldest landscape of Mount Everhoof, a young man, bathed in black and coated in his own grief, trails upon the cruel endless snow, ignoring the harsh gusts and coldness seeping into his shoes, in pursuit of ending his pain, once and for all...

    A Fimfiction Production
    A momentous event, the first of countless more to arise. Every year, a festival shall commence, in celebration for the utter wonders and potential for everyone to make friends with others. Soon enough, all many other species shall partake in the festivities and learn the power and comfort of friendship with every passing year. It is the young Princess, Jack, who shall leave her mark on the world in bringing all life together through friendship and trust.
    Sunset raised both brows in joking incredulity, despite some sincerity in those cerulean eyes. "You've certainly changed for the better, Stardust."
    "Don't push it." I warned teasingly.
    "I know that look. That's the 'I have an idea that should be obvious by now' look." Damn right it was! The yellow bacon-haired pony smirked faintly. "Care to let us in on it?"
    Sunset, Flash, Bon and the rest all beamed themselves at the joyful reunion - though to me it was more even than that.
    "Stardust... Is that really you?" A tentative voice called out in a quiet melody.
    My teeth grit.
    How long has it been, Rutherford? How long since I interacted with any of my friends? Starlight felt too long even now, and Twilight... The other Twilight...
    "His name is Zagreus. A creature born from the imbalance of events changed by my own doing. He wants to... To erase everything from existence and remake the universe in his own image..." I grounded out with self-deprecating grit teeth.
    You come into my town? Terrify the populace? And expect little resistance?
     
     
     
    Fifty-Seven Chapters...
    Managing to free myself with enough pulls, I charged myself to the spinning dark unicorn, Zagreus blocking my punch and blade and retaliating, a swift battle of a small, hidden knife and a large, magically-produced weapon. It really [BEEP]ed him off then when I grabbed two blue beams with his gloved hands and brought them together, squarely hitting his dark chest and sending the abomination flying across into another, unoccupied building.
    Seeing his chance, the green Earth Pony with his tech yelled for the orange stallion of his world to get out of the way, four quick missiles producing from Beck's arsenal following, enveloped the snarling Zagreus in a large explosion that forced us to look away or shield our eyes.
    Have Been Leading...
    It was breathtaking, as a word to put it. The very large, physical bright sphere, putting all the kingdoms together in shame, greater in mass and height that took up residence near the center of the planet.
    My blade ready, I hurried down the path curving path and steps leading towards said platform where my foe awaited. Where my destiny had finally taken me. Apprehension, dread, anticipation, determination, fear and thrill, lost and hope all coursing through my veins by this very moment; the flow of friendship and balance encouraging me forwards to save the universe and everyone within, stopping this fiend once and finally.
    To This Moment...
    I charged yet again, swinging my lightsaber around wildly. I was going to have this monster succumb under pressure by my own raw might and fury, hammering away with the green whizzing plasma.
    "Tell Twilight that, if I survive, I will let her kill me a thousand times more... And that I'll love her more than all as the selfish human being I am."
    The ring dug into my chest, right fist closed one final time as I took a long, deep breath.
    My hand, held by a purple claw and colourful hoofs. Opening my eyes again, that image engraved in my head under a warm, peaceful day where nothing was wrong.
     

     
    "I liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive!" Discord stretched upper bear and rooster arms in loud exclaimation.
    "My! My! The resemblance is almost uncanny!"
    Applejack managed to catch Rarity as the latter fainted from the towering thin sight.

    To Whomever Finds This Letter.
    By the time you've discovered this, I would be long gone by now. So far even Discord himself wouldn't be likely to find me with his infinite tap of magic.
    ...Probably.
    Anyway... Well, not even sure where to begin. I made the choice a few days ago, this is true, but envisioning writing this farewell note is less difficult than writing it out in reality. A part of me is tearing itself on the inside even doing this, just as my heart ached from the likely prospect of never seeing you all again after sneaking away from the picnic, once you've all fallen asleep after that wonderful moment together. Which might as well be the last for a very, very long time.
    Oh come now, like this wasn't totally expected. You girls know me by now. You know I would sacrifice my body and soul for the sake of keeping everyone I love safe, even if I was breaking a massive promise here to a certain alicorn Princess of Friendship, whom is growing no doubt more upset and furious with every word being read.
    Ha... I'll miss that.
    But you have to know something, all of you. Something I've been keeping mostly to myself and sharing with few, confirmed from the muzzle of Starswirl himself since my days on the Canterlot throne, and a suspicion long confirmed since I wounded up in hospital a short while back. A truth so horrendous and heart-wrenching I knew it would incite you all to keep me as safe as possible, but in reality causing little change.
    I'm dying, girls... Spike. The spell which reverted me back to human has no reversal remedy out there, as told by the old prune above. Everyday my life as full human again slowly kills me, literally. If you're that upset, wondering why I kept this from you all for so long, just imagine my own thoughts on the matter: How could I possibly spill the beans to you ponies, pure of heart and soul? So innocent and trusting, open without a shred of sin. Six childlike equines who know nothing but peace and content in their lives; of which I have tirelessly challenged time and time again, bringing my own burdens unto you all.
    Without intent, but the point still stands.
    So now you know why I'm doing this, making this decision. If you don't, then consider it this way. Zagreus will not stop until I'm dead at this hoofs... Why not give him what he wants, but take the [BEEP]tard down with me? A blaze of glory; a dignifying demise at least... If you still don't understand, then that's completely fine. Suffice to say, I've long come to terms with the thought of dying... But I was to choose between suddenly keeling over from a heart attack one day and dying on the spot, or dying battling that maniac of my own creation to the very end.
    Well... You know exactly what I would pick.
    The monster will be eventually aware of my running away, and take immediate advantage of it. It's me he wants; so long as I'm away, you'll all be left alone. I'm the sole obstacle to his insane plans for universal cleansing, and I will continue being that thorn until my dying breath. Call this selfish. Arrogant. Maddening if you would; but I'd do this again, a million times more if it meant keeping you all safe.
    Right now, as I pack, I realize there's not enough room to be said. Written on this letter. Too many things I've wanted to say. I never desired taking this path, but some things are beyond our control, even I acknowledge that. Being said, I will do my best to articulate my summarized feelings towards the wonderful, amazing, talented and beautiful Equestrians I've come to know and love indefinitely.
    Spike.
    You were... Are my son, and I'll always be proud to call you as such. You were the first to believe in me, the first whom never judged me for who or what I was, and accepted me as family long before I accepted myself. You've been a bright light in my hardened mind long ago, and I will always cherish you... Keep your mother safe for me, okay son?
    ...God I sounded too much like Goku there. Anyway:
    Starlight.
    It's amazing how close we've gotten so quickly. In the short time we've known each other, you've become a sister to me, I have no fear in saying that. In many ways, I see my past self in you... Hell, some small traits of that remain. You are brilliant, confident, passionate and wise; the most worthy student of Twilight's no matter who comes after you. I only hope the best for you in the future... You and Sunburst.
    Fluttershy.
    In the past, I admit, you were my second favourite among the original six a long time ago prior to accepting you all as friends, only below Twilight. Your kindness, warmth and acceptance kept my imbalanced state steady, always being a source for comfort and advice when needed. May Discord know eventually how lucky he truly is... Oh, and give your brother a good kick in the plot for your old friend, would you? A sort of final request. Cheers my dear.

    ...Honestly, I don't know what else to say but thanks for the capes, fedora and hairstyles. I know I've often expressed exasperation by your well-meaning but firm intentions, but truthfully I've secretly always enjoyed spending time with you this way. Even if you did drive me around the bend from your obsession with keeping my hair 'perfect' to your eyes. You are Equestria's greatest fashionista, Rarity, and I wish you the very best with that passion in the future. I know you'll outshine them all.

    Hmm... Now what to say here...? Oh, I got it! Long ago, I found you nothing but loud and obnoxious, slowly coming to terms with finding your erratic behaviour endearing, even if faintly irritating at times still. But you eman well, always looking for some means of keeping everypony happy, including complete strangers. You have a gift for making others laugh and keeping their lives fulfilled, and I see great things for you and so many more with that power. Don't stop throwing parties and spreading joy, because who else would you be without those?
    That depressed version of you so many bronies are obsessed with for some reason? I don't think so.
    Damn, running out of paper. Gotta move this along, sorry guys.

    Ha... The last of you that took me forever to get along with. I always possessed a low tolerance for people who think too highly of themselves; ponies no exception. It took a long time to even tolerate you, I won't lie... But I'm glad we got somewhere, in the end. You're passionate, loyal and devoted to your way of life, barely much bringing you down. The Wonderbolts will have a glorious future with Equestria's greatest flyer joining their ranks and someday leading them. I'd wish you the best...
    But if I believed you needed it.
    Bon. Lyra. Derpy. Whooves. Shining. Sombra. Octavia. Vinyl. Cadence. Luna. Zecora... Sunset. Friends and companions whom I've known; forgive me, and I wish you all the best of futures.
    Now, saving the best for last.
    Twilight Sparkle.
    My love, my reason to be, my soulmate... Yeah I know none of that's gonna calm you down enough reading all this. You probably want to smack me above the head with the hardest book available to me right now. Ha, I'd expect nothing less! I'd do the exact same thing. But I know you, Twilight, no doubt this would all incite you to begin an immediate search for your stubborn boyfriend and return him home.
    Don't.
    Don't ever come looking for me.
    That's my next request. That said, this letter alone wouldn't be enough to express how much I've enjoyed and etched every moment together in my heart. Remember when Fluttershy knocked you into me out of fascination for Spike, the first day we met? You probably thought nothing of me... But even back then, I thought the world of you. Even at first glance, I was mesmerized by your flawless beauty and equally perfect voice... It benefits to be voiced by a memorable actress, but that's beside the point.
    I love you, Twilight Sparkle, most of all from everyone here. Yeah yeah, I know. Favourtism. Sue me, I'm not perfect and that's precisely why you love me, isn't it? But it's out of that love that I'm doing this; even if it kills me, this time emotionally...
    You encouraged me, gave me hope, always being there to put me back together after shattering into a million pieces. Not a single second went by on my brief return back on my world that I didn't think of you, every minute of every day.
    You can imagine how Sombra felt about that.
    And remember, my dear Twilight... This wasn't on you. I know you still blame yourself for my condition, and probably grow paranoid by my decision here. But keep this firm words of your boyfriend in mind: It. Was. Not. Your. Fault. And our friends will attest to that sentiment. This is my choice. My path.
    My... Destiny.
    I love you... Nothing more needs to be said.
    I never deserved you, despite your constant protests to that. I never deserved any of you... But I will forever keep you all in mind and heart, everyday as I walk down this road to Zagreus, exploring all of Equestria, and beyond, if I had to. The imbalance must end... On both our counts. My final request, from I to all of you:
    Stay happy. Always be there for each other. Never give up. Never give in.
    Because this isn't goodbye forever... It's goodbye until next time.

    "He is immune to magic in that form. I told you to employ other means!"
    Zagreus.
    "But you'll all have each other for support and comfort. And I'm sure Twilight would likely indulge herself into paranoia when no one's looking around..."
    Stardust Balance.
    "My student and her wonderful friends gathered the Elements of Harmony, saved my beloved sister, and restored the world to balance time and time again. On that day where she met those five amazing friends, became the catalyst for a safe and bright future for us all!"
    "You can maintain that body without Starswirl's power constantly being drained to keep you that way. You would become a full Equestrian for the rest of your life. Would you like that?"
    "On that same day, they encountered a lost pony, whom arrived in Ponyville with neither friends nor protection. Time and time again, this lost soul willingly helped my former pupil and her friends overcome many obstacles, asking nothing in return and learning the values of friendship alongside them."
    "His original body is unaccustomed to the magical realm; it must be a negative reaction!"
    "Jack!"
    "Some may know him, most may have heard tales of this stallion's exploits. The pony who defied the likes of Queen Chrysalis, King Sombra, Lord Tirek. Even my own sister in effort to spare his loved ones the danger. It is time we fully acknowledge, and officially welcome this brave explorer to our world."
    "Jack's magic originally centered from the heart. Balance operates differently than regular magic, drawn from the emotions of the user rather than the horn of an Equestrian. My first deduction was that if we could direct the spell to whatever possible magic may now lay dormant in him, it would reawaken that power and assist us in changing Jack back to normal."
     "Is this how you behaved before we first ever met? Because I'm starting to miss the more energetic non-human Stardust."
    "Keep your attention focused on what Father Pooper has to say children. His wisdom is a matter be to taken to heart."
    "Correct, my fellow Equestrians. The pony currently courting the Princess of Friendship; whom you might know as the Hero of Canterlot, Crystal Champion, and, to some, the Twilight Warrior, is not from around me. He traveled to Equestria from beyond the stars, and has done nothing but protect and aided us since that same day my young student and their friends have done the same."
    Their warnings to the founders - That of Commander Hurricane, Clover the Clever, Smart Cookie, Private Pansy, Chancellor Puddinghead and Princess Platinum - were left unheeded, for the founders have already declared a new age of peace, and wish it to be kept that way, fearful of the creatures lurking, waiting for the spirit of friendship they bestowed to weaken so the land would be taken into the cold yet again. Disgruntled, but not yet defeated, those whom predicted grave danger to the land gathered all their followers and, using ancient equine magic, rose over the heights of the heavens and constructed a new haven for all to be safe from the machinations of the land below.
    "Why do you insist on helping me?"
    "Do I need a reason?"
    "I don't think I can hate anyone, even those who wronged me..."
    "You're still you. The appearance outside never changes whom you are on the inside. And inside; you're still the same compassionate, knowledgeable, kind and thoughtful, brilliant, considerate, strong amazing Twilight Sparkle I've... Well, I think you know."
    "I think we may both agree that you were never truly deserving of any friends... Were you Jack?"
    "Two lonely pathetic people, brought together by their own doubts and sheer stubbornness to fight the inevitable. A match made in heaven, surely."
    "After all this is said and done, you'll go back home. You'll go home and be with the ponies who love you, you'll give up this crusade of tackling your own problems, and you'll be happy for the rest of your life with them."
    "Don't do this..."
    "I know I'd be happy to have them, and you, to call my friends..."

    First chapter: The Hand Balance Deals With Us.

    "Stardust... You're crying."
    "I'm just happy to have you all with me, my family... I love you all."

    For those who saw the movie, ye remember how Rainbow restored faith to the anthro parrots? Well... Behold Stardust's solution instead! Major spoilers on the portbound!
    "...Typical." I scoffed, rolling my eyes. "A cliche villainous threat. You're abandoning everything that means to be a pirate just because of one threat some random tyrant made?"
    Caleano snapped her head to me, frowning in disapproval. "Like there are any better ideas."
    "There are." I immediately countered, gesturing to her attire. "Look at you. Look at your crew. You're pirates for God's sake. You don't take orders from Kings. The whole point is to rebel, pillage and plunder at your leisure! Search for buried treasure and sail far across the seas - Or in your case, skies - for as far as the eye can see! You can't call yourselves reputable pirates if you bow down to authority so easily; that goes against the whole point!"
    That said, I turned around and hurried down to the main deck, my boots slamming on the ground directing many of the bird's attention. Good, because I needed them to hear all this.
    "You're not slaves! You're not delivery birds! You're PIRATES!" My fist pounded on the chest for emphasis. "To become such in the first place means you have a rebellious fire in your heart! Who is this Storm King to say what you can and cannot do? Who says you can't enjoy the free winds and adventurous spirits when he's not looking?" To further emphasize my passionate point, I then proceeded to climb atop the fixed crate and called out over the ship. "Are you all slaves to a King?!"
    "Nay!" The rest of the crew responded aside from the Captain, who just stood on the steps and was regarding me in wonder. Good, maybe it'll sink in.
    "Should you be told what you can do by anyone but your Captain?!"
    "Nay!"
    "Are we servants, or are we pirates?!"
    "Pirates!" Followed with the sounds of unsheathing metal and weapons pointed in the air.
    My grin only widened, raising my own fist high. "And you're not letting some overrated tyrant tell you how to live your lives, are you?! Let's prove him and your Captain wrong!"
    "Aye!"
    And what better way to do it than in musical accompaniment?
    I jumped off the box and widened my arms, putting on my own pirate tone yet again and commencing with returning the spirit to a ship that has tried so hard to forget it.
    "Do what you want 'cause a pirate is free,
    You are a pirate!"
    The crew joined in a split-second.
    "Yar har, fiddle de dee!
    Being a pirate is alright to be!
    Do what you want 'cause a pirate is free,
    You are a pirate!"
    And while we were all jig dancing like real swashbucklers, I danced over to the stunned lead parrot and emphasized with joy.
    "You are a PIRATE!"
    "Yay!"
    A map brought and unrolled atop a crate, all of us looking over it with barely-contained glee.
    "We've got us a map. (A map!)
    To lead us to a hidden box.
    That's all locked up with locks. (With locks!)
    And buried deep away.
    We'll dig up the box. (The box!)
    We know it's full of precious booty!
    Burst open the locks!
    And then we'll say, 'Hooray!'"
    And a feminine voice pitched in, with all the jovial nature only a pirate could bring. Caleano leaped atop the upper deck over the railing, finally seeing it for herself.
    "Yar har, fiddle de dee!
    If you love to sail the sea,
    You are a pirate!"
    Yes! YES! I grinned upwards at the equally smiling parrot before continuing onwards with the song, pointing out with a loud exclaim over the side of one ship.
    "WEIGH ANCHOR!"

    I spun around the log holding the main sails, and pointed with unrestrained glee. My love for pirate lore in general was getting the better of me, but who cares? My first and, perhaps, last time of ever partaking in a pirate crew.
    "We're sailing away. (Set sail!)
    Adventure awaits on every shore.
    We set sail and explore, (Ya-har!)
    And run and jump all day. (Yay!)
    We float on our boat. (The boat!)
    Until its time to drop the anchor.
    Then hang up our coats, (Aye-aye!)
    Until we sail again!"
    And Caleano did her part yet again, both our backs dancing against one another with all the free spirit only a pirate crew may have. And on the main deck, the parrot crew danced and interlocked arms to their heart's content.
    "Yar har, fiddle de dee!
    If you love to sail the sea,
    You are a pirate!"
    I was loving every minutes of this! When was the last time I had such fun? Before leaving Ponyville, of course! Guitar lessons with Flash doesn't count, certainly!
    "LAND HO!"
    "Yar har, fiddle de dee!
    Being a pirate is alright with me!

    You are a pirate!"
    I motioned to the rest of the crew with a pirate's grin.
    "Yar har, wind at your back, lads, wherever you go!"
    "Blue sky above and blue ocean below,
    You are a pirate!"
    Concluding the energy-providing song with another pirate's laugh.
    "Hahahahahaha!
    You are a pirate!"
    "You're all pirates, ya gob[BEEP]s." Exclamations of agreement, and my grin of triumph was transformed to surprise by a hand grabbing the scruff of my neck and dragging right next to the main wheel, courtesy of their lively Captain. Setting me beside her, Captain Caleano called out to the rest of her crew with newfound pirate resolve.
    "Alright ya scallywags! Let's prove how no one tells our crew what we can and cannot do!" It was like she was an entirely different character. A startling experience, but also a welcoming one. "Full speed to the nearest outpost of the Storm King! We are gonna get ourselves some extra rewards for puttin' up with that tyrant's orders!"
    "Aye aye Captain!" They all saluted with ecstatic postures, hurrying around the ship with far more zeal than earlier.
    Also, parrot rainbows wings for full sails. Nice.
    "Ye be havin' our thanks stranger." Caleano smirked my way. "Perhaps ye should be rewarded with somethin' only a true pirate may possess. I've got just the thing."
    "An eyepatch?"
    She chuckled. "Better than that lad. How about yer own pirate name? Any suggestions?"
    A pirate name! Oh God, I wasn't ready for this! It felt like such a privilege. Well... It's easy to use a name added with 'beard,' but I wasn't the Captain of the crew so that couldn't work regardless. What name would fit...
    A hohoho!
    "Y'arg, I have just the name in mind, Cap'n." My grin matched hers humouredly. "I be Jack Starrow, scourge of the seven skies!"

    Setting: Canterlot High. Imagine the school but repainted by various shades of blue, a familiar mark on the front center of the building.
    Teenage Spike and Sci Twi hurry to the entrance.
    ???: "Well well well. I wasn't expecting you to take this long, I must confess. Is it seldom hard to find anyone who gives a [BEEP] about this world, dear Twilight?"
    Sci Twi: "Who... What is that...?"
    Golden canine walks on hind legs to the staircase, blocking access.
    ???: "Oh, allow me. I am known on many worlds as Stardust. You must be the weaker Twilight, and you..." *Glances to Spike in disgust* "Must be the Spike from that alternate Equestria, where a far softer version of myself was persuaded to 'see another way.' You Equestrians and your penchant for believing in hopeless causes."
    Sci Twi: "So you're responsible for what's happening to the school!"
    Diamond Dog Stardust: "Hmhm, partially... Or should I say for the most part? It's hard to tell when there's more than one of you mucking about."
    Sci Twi: "W-What?"
    DD Stardust: "That's right my dear. Team Rainbow Twilight, or rather its boss, has assembled a group of, let's say, 'like-minded individuals' to join their crusade against the tyrannical rule of Celestia and all pony kind. Seven of us, to be exact, all with the same passion and goals in mind. Of course, neither of you will have the privilege of seeing any of them, for I will be dealing with you children before you become a nuisance to our plans."
    Spike bravely steps forward.
    DD Stardust: "Tch... I see age hasn't improved reason or maturity, Spike. Very well! Allow me to demonstrate the destructive wrath of a Twilight Warrior!"
    Main Legendary: Mewtwo.

    Griffon Stardust: "What's this? You're clearly not a member of Team Rainbow Twilight, and those eyes look familiar... My name is Stardust, but call me Griffon Stardust if you like. In the moment of my triumph, a bright light swallowed me whole, and I ended up in this dump. I intend on returning to my world soon, but the more I stay, I realize..."
    He grins wickedly.
    Griffon Stardust: "Why not have this world's Equestria share the same fate as mine? You see, I retrieved the Idol of Boreas, and restored the Griffon Empire to its previous glory. In a crusade, I led my newfound people against Celestia's rule, and established a monarchy where all griffon kind shared equal rights and living spaces as those foolish ponies. Griffons are very much like humans; prideful, ambitious, allowing nothing to stand in their way. Sounds like a very ideal utopia, does it not?"
    Spike bravely steps forward.
    Griffon Stardust: "Hmph, so you're planning on interfering huh? Alright then little guy, let's show you what these talons can do to troublemakers!"
    Main Legendary: Rayquaza.

    EQG Stardust: "I thought it would one of those bothersome stereotypes coming to whine again, but I didn't expect to find a child breaking through the ranks and confronting me. I am Stardust... Or, at least, a 'human' version of Stardust, if these creatures deserve to called as such. During my ascendance, the magic portal swallowed my being, and I wounded up in this dimension. Now, I have every intent on returning to my ideal world, but first..."
    A small smirk.
    EQG Stardust: "Since I'm here, why not give this world the exact same 'makeover.' You see, this world is plagued with the simple minds of idiots and fools; walking marketing toys with no actual purpose of existence. With the power of the geodes, I utilized the magic and remade the world in my image; a world where these people have actual personalities and relatable characteristics. Where they have actual meaning to exist. And where magic isn't handled by seven children whom have no concept of responsibility or conduct. A rather sophisticated universe, wouldn't you agree?"
    Spike bravely steps forward.
    EQG Stardust: "...Can't you see that I'm trying to make this world a better place? Allow me then, child, to remind you of your place, for I, Stardust Balance, the Twilight Warrior and Saviour of this World, to be your salvation!"
    Main Legendary: Deoxys.

    Anthro Stardust: "Who are you...? You're not a member of RT, and your features... I am Stardust Balance, otherwise known as 'Anthro Stardust' to the simple-minded. Once I obtained the Elements of Harmony, a bright light engulfed me and summoned me in this building. Answer this for me: Is this the New World?"
    Spike: "...Maybe...?"
    Anthro Stardust: "Curious... I sense a strong desire of justice in you, meaning this isn't the New World I envisioned. I inhabit a dimension where Equestrians adapted into human-like characteristics and features, evolving into something beyond what furries would dream of... Hold on, those eyes... May I take a closer look?"
    Spike: "Uh..."
    Anthro Stardust: "Interesting, you look just like..."
    Spike: "...Are you finished...?"
    Anthro Stardust: "...It matters not. Whether it be this world or the next, I shall complete my destiny. I will rid a world of Celestia's false ruling and establish my dreams unto all. Where my spirit and mine alone is just and absolute."
    Spike bravely steps forward.
    Anthro Stardust: "...Foolish child. I've come too far now. No one shall interfere with my vision..."
    Main Legendary: Giratina.

    Changeling Stardust: "So, opposition has arrived as anticipated. My name is Stardust, but call me Changeling Stardust if it makes it easier for you. One touch to the Crystal Heart, and I found myself at the doorsteps of this school. Once a pony myself, I was found and taken advantage of by Chrysalis and her kind, dropping my guard to the point where she forced me with cursed magic to become just like her."
    Closed eyes, as if relieving a bad memory.
    Changeling Stardust: "...In retaliation, I had overthrown her rule and exiled the fallen Queen, myself dominating all Changeling kind and, eventually, all other life. My goal is to share the love of all living creatures with each other, whether they desire it or not. All have an equal right to feel love and be loved in turn. Behind me, you see two buttons. One will access the door you need to unlock. The other, releases a magical aroma which will absorb all the love of this world and converse it for myself. The choice of yours, for I believe he with the stronger will has the right to decide destiny. Now, let's see what destiny thinks of you."
    Spike presses a button.
    Changeling Stardust: "Hmm... Regrettably, destiny is not your ally! But you still have some time left; the other button will also negate the effects of the magic and, instead, have all life on this world feel compelled to express more love than hatred. However, I will not allow you to reach it so easily."
    Spike tenses.
    Changeling Stardust: "Hmm... Your desires against my own. Let us see whose will is stronger, shall we?"
    Main Legendary: Zygarde.

    Spike and Sci Twi head towards the main auditorium, but are halted by a tall figure at the doorway stepping out.
    Dragon Stardust: "Well well well, I come outside to hear strange noises, and intruders knocking about on the doors! I see my other selves aren't as competent as I had hoped."
    Sci Twi: "Another you? Where's Sunset?"
    Dragon Stardust: "Sunset? Ah, I see. You're this world's Twilight Sparkle. I am Dragon Stardust; I represent the dominant kind of my world. Upon overthrowing that cretin Princess, a light in the throne room swallowed me entirely and brought me here... You need not fret love, you will find your friend blissfully asleep and unaware in the next room."
    Sci Twi gasps. "Sunset!" But Dragon Stardust blocks her path.
    Dragon Stardust: "Ah ah ah, not so fast my dear."
    Sci Twi: "Please, you have to let me pass."
    Dragon Stardust: "Unfortunately, I cannot allow you any further access. You see, I have considered long and hard behind my purpose being here. And after time, I have uncovered it! My goal, is to spread the power of Balance, and gather all the magic of the worlds to myself, ridding those foolish ponies of any power they have no right to possess. Equestrians treat their magic like toys; tool to be used and disposed, when they could be used to serve a greater purpose. A new world order where all dragon kind rules as is their right! To achieve this ideal, though, I require the assistance of a pony broken from his chains. And that stallion - that Equestrian version of me in there - is a pony of pure ambition. And I find those with ambition far easier to manipulate than the complete naivety of pony kind. Soon, we will rule every single dimension under the flag of the dragons!"
    Spike bravely steps forward.
    Dragon Stardust: "Grr... Must you persist in interfering? No matter, all obstacles to my ambitions will be utterly destroyed!"
    Main Legendary: Kyurem.

    Sci Twi and Spike enter the large room, taking note of an unconscious Sunset Shimmer and a golden stallion on the center stage.
    Sci Twi: "Sunset!"
    ???: "Well well. Seems the convictions of other can overcome even myself. I'm impressed you made it this far, to make it past alternate versions of myself whom share my ideals. Your 'father' must have taught you better than I thought, Spike."
    Sci Twi: "So, you're the one responsible...!"
    ???: "Indeed! Team Rainbow Twilight's goal is to unify all living things in peaceful harmony. A world without war or conflict of any kind. Griffons, dragons, Changelings, humans, Diamond Dogs, ponies, and so many more. The true kind of balance... With I, King Stardust, as their salvation!"
    Spike grits his teeth, Sci Twi runs to where Sunset lays. "Sunset, wake up!"
    Pony Stardust: "Ah, I'm afraid she will remain asleep for quite some time. This young mare is quite essential to my goals. After all, none of this would be possible if it hadn't been for her in the very beginning."
    Sci Twi: "You... Why are you doing this?!"
    Pony Stardust: "I will conquer all worlds, and bring forth the balance I have always sought. In my homeworld, there is nothing but selfishness and death. But no more, I shall bring forth the utopia we have always striven for, but never succeeded because self-destructive conflict." Glances to Spike. "I'm impressed, though, by your tenacity. You have just proven how much like us you really are. Why not join the winning team, Spike, and stand beside your father in our conquest for peace? What do you say?"
    Spike: "...Yeah sure, why not? I mean, you obviously have everything planned out. I never mistook you for a brilliant tactician, 'Dad.'"
    Pony Stardust: "Hmph... Calm enough to jest I see."
    Spike bravely steps forward. Pony Stardust leaps from the stage and stands opposed the humanized dragon, on his hind legs with a human posture.
    Pony Stardust: "For this insolence against your father, ungrateful child, I shall do what my other self failed, and introduce you to a world of pain!"
    Main Legendary: Ho-Oh.

    And... Of course, they all lose.

    As some will know, Alex MacQueen is my most favourite portrayal of the villainous Master from Doctor Who, the sole incarnation who has only appeared in audio stories and captures the perfect blend of the classic and modern eras. As such, it is likely that his portrayal would become the main inspiration behind EQG Stardust's role as an opposition against Sunset and her friends should we choose that path during the sequel. Below are a few paragraphs from an article I found summarizing the eccentric Master to provide a better understanding of what Stardust would truly be like gone villainous.

    "The MacQueen Master was the first incarnation of the Master after acquiring his new regenerative cycle. A theatrical attention seeker, this Master incorporated the strongest aspects of all his previous incarnations to become an intellectual megalomaniac, master schemer who used genuinely polite mannerisms to enhance his evil.
    On the surface, this Master was a lot like the Sixth Doctor in the ego department. He had the ‘stop-what-you’re-doing-and-only-pay-attention-to-me’ personality about him. He was very condescending and sarcastic in his replies to people. The MacQueen Master, now with a lot of new lives breathed into him, showed a radical change by being particularly more willing to go into dangerous – even hostile – situations than his other incarnations. This highlights how little he has to fear now given his new lease on life. He not only made deals with the Eminence and the Daleks for universal domination, but he also showed signs of extreme anti-obedience syndrome and unwarranted arrogance, openly and casually mocking both his allies while fully aware that they could kill him anytime they wanted. He seemed unable to see or reluctant to care that while still a Time Lord, his body and life was still frail compared to the fire power of those around him.
    This form was perhaps the most practical of all his incarnations past and future. He showed a dangerously high genre savviness of his surroundings that made this incarnation extremely hyper-competent in battle. His plans were meticulous, and like his Beevers incarnation, this Master liked to plan for every possible obstacle, but instead of waiting for the contingency to be activated by his opponents, this Master openly went out of his way to close off those obstacles beforehand. Savvy remember? Defeating this Master was usually down to pot luck or this incarnation’s overconfidence which seemed to take off like a rocket only afterhe’d come out on top.
    While every Master has showed a degree of disrespect for the workings of time travel and the timelines in general, this Master surpassed all others with his brazen attitude towards it, citing that he would simply use his TARDIS to cross his own timeline and try to achieve the same plan that just failed once more without any concern for the paradoxes or personal dangers involved in doing so. Additionally, this Master had no qualms about the paradoxes involved should he kill the Seventh Doctor after already coming off of a fight with his Eighth incarnation (TV Movie) and indirectly being responsible for the former’s regeneration into the latter as well as that event starting a chain that would eventually lead to the creation of this current incarnation.
    This Master was also unorthodox in his malice. While he was no different than most Masters when it came to killing, he was more interested in being ‘pointlessly cruel’ and very spiteful, opting to humiliate and punish his opponents especially after he’d bested them. He preferred to let others believe they’d defeated him before turning the tides and took great pleasure in emotionally humiliating them after he took back control, revealing that he had never actually lost it.
    Much like the Seventh Doctor, this Master preferred to set up the dominos and then watch them fall. He wanted to wield an army, but unlike most of his other incarnations, he was just too lazy to build one up himself, instead letting others do the ‘work’ before sweeping in and stealing everything."
    ...Yep, sounds like me turned evil alright.

    Unorthodox as it may appear, Miss Glimmer is right among many aspects. Your heated exchanges with the Princess are spawned mostly from affection and worry, but you're beginning to fall prey to sincere irritation and anger from them. Let this debate settle indefinitely, otherwise you'll lost more than you realize.
    "You can't deny your true calling, Stardust. You are a creature of war and destruction. It's only a matter of time before your pony friend realizes this..."
    "Well, let's not stop now! We have a while day to celebrate Hearth's Warming together! C'mon everypony, let's dance!"
    "Harmony. Chaos. United without the ruined touch of species. That Balance was shattered, though, by the arrival of the first creature to be born. Chaos and Harmony became rivals, enemies, because of war, violence and conflict. So long as a single living creature exists, then Balance will never return."
    "I am the descendant of Griffonstone's fourteenth King, King Guto, the last ruler before the Idol of Boreas was stolen from us. After the thief fell down the Abysmal Abyss, taking our treasure with it, my ancestor was far too ashamed of his own actions."
    Sunset Shimmer and Starlight Glimmer weren't suppose to meet at this point in time. Your invention and role in the former's life incited Miss Shimmer to visit her home world this day. I regret to say the negative feedback towards Balance will be significant.
    My people have been reduced to sniveling cowards, afraid of a mere Changeling. Only my might is worth their instincts to hide and lock up their doors, not the rumoured presence of four-legged insect who only seeks to love.
    "Let's get past the introductions. I'm Stardust Balance, the Twilight Warrior; the Crystal Champion and Hero of Canterlot, here on behalf of Princess Twilight Sparkle to solve this threat plaguing your hospital. You're going to tell me everything you know and you will do so without hesitation, or I will hold you personally responsible for endangering the lives of innocent patients and your own staff."
    "You haven't kissed me like that since our reunion at Canterlot High..."
    You are naive, and gullible to some extent. But you possess a passion and low tolerance for idiocy. You are ready to fight and protect those which matters most to you. A warrior's spirit sprung from a lineage of old. I'd rather have that resting on my throne than... What is sitting upon it now.
    Jack, we must hurry at once!
    "Don't you realize that stalling all this will only doom yourselves? You need me, all of you. I am very proof of your need for salvation."
    "Maybe the world is imbalanced, probably because of me. Definitely perhaps. But if the world is unstable... Then it just needs some balance!"

    What is that? What even is that? It boggles me that some people use this inane excuse of "If you don't like something about a franchise or media, you're not a true fan!" Being a fan isn't an entitlement to like every aspect of a show/movie/book. You can find many problems in something you like and still love it for what it's worth. Reality check, there's no such a thing as a "true fan;" there's always going to be something in a franchise you'll disagree with. If there isn't, then you're only fooling yourself. The minute you use the "true fan" line, you've lost the argument right there and then.
     
    Example: I love MLP, but utterly despise EQG, which is a part of MLP. Does that make me any less of a fan? No.
     
    There's a difference between a subjective opinion, and being so childish to call someone "not a true fan" simply because you disagree with them.

    Our focus on getting things done as quickly as possible, wanting to meet the deadline long before it gets to that point. Seriously, over time I've been feeling pressure and anxiety over writing the chapters in time long before they're to be published. Example: Season 5, Episode 1 for AJBS; already finished earlier today and set for March/April next year. It's ridiculous, considering the amount of spare time until then - not to mention I have literally all the time in the world - but any excuse for tardiness against writing flashes a red no-no in my brain at this point, despite my weary limbs and mind.

    He kept to himself as a child, studying within the town library and becoming vastly intrigued by the politics of Equestria and the concept over balance itself, often interacting with any outside visitor to the town to possibly learn more. But realizing by his teen years his curiosity and fate will not be found there, Stardust departed the town which raised with only a goodbye note, and the reassurance that one day he will return.
     
    His travels took him from Appleloosa to Fillydelphia, from Canterlot and, eventually, Ponyville. Throughout all towns and cities he arrived at, Stardust studied in the libraries he could find, and learned more not only about balance itself, but exactly what the Equestrian monarchy has been up to recently.
     
    Needless to say, Stardust was far from impressed by Princess Celestia's apparent negligence and flirting with danger. Hearing that a few of Equestria's villains were defeated not by the monarch herself, but by her own teenage students and mares younger than him, Stardust couldn't help but investigate the matter further. Arriving into Canterlot, he met the brother of Celestia's student along with his betrothed, and discovered that nowadays the monarchy only focused relying on the teenager unicorn and their friends for help with whatever crisis befalls Equestria.
     
    Stardust was clearly disgusted, appalled by the reckless and absurd actions made by the ruler. It didn't help that nowadays Celestia only hosted parties or events just to remind others who they should be glorifying without a valid reason beside that she's of royalty.
     
    Deciding to learn more about it, Stardust headed to Ponyville, where he met Twilight Sparkle herself, who, to his delight, owned a library while staying at Ponyville. The two quickly made fast friends, as Twilight was intrigued by the foreign pony who had a shared love for books, and Stardust fascinated with the young mare who managed to defeat the several monstrosities which plagued Equestria. By the time he was done asking about Celestia, it was clear to the stallion he had more respect and admiration for Miss Sparkle than the Princess of Canterlot, thanking her for the information.
     
    Currently, Stardust, learning of an abandoned castle upon exploring the Everfree Forest after bumping into a voodoo zebra, took up residence there to rest for the next few days before departing elsewhere, preferring his own solitude. Though that seemed to turn to months, as Stardust found himself frequently visiting the town, its library, and meeting very interesting ponies, including the ones who are the keys to the mythical Elements of Harmony. Staying at the broken aged castle, Stardust continued his studies; reading, philosophizing and practicing self-defense moves he picked over years of traveling.
     
    And, as Twilight had officially become the Princess of Friendship, Stardust realized that in order to have a balanced society of Equestria, the world must evolve; starting with the monarchy needing to be torn down and rebuilt from the ground up...

  25. Stardust Balance
    The first scene towards this Saturday's exciting next chapter of AJBS! With no Twilight to assist them this time around, the role of lead singer falls to the hands of a hesitant Sunset Shimmer, encouraged by her fellow teenage friends and the support of one Stardust Balance. To him, the Dazzlings are simply a bother to put aside, but to the girls, the fate of their world is at stake.
