I don't really get how that song was supposed to sound "awful", I can understand that with the CMC song even though it ended up being great.

Over the barrel, because the Japanese version of the CMC talent show song is awesome sounding. I think they missed the memo that Scootaloo is supposed to be 'terrible' at singing. XD

Being a kid doesn't make it okay. This episode's journey is massively predictable, and Spike is bogged down by DHX writing him as being stupid.

Spike is a pretty smart guy when he wants to be...its just the constant bad writing

Fandom frustration at another mediocre to bad Spike episode. It's one of the things the fandom wishes the show improve on is Spike's characterizations not written by Meghan McCarthy (only one to treat him consistently well under her writing).
