  1. Jinx narrowed her eyes as she stared at the wall. All of this guilt was starting to wear on her--she wasn't used to these negative emotions but she knew enough to know she hated them. But then her ears pricked up as an idea came to her. She got up and slowly padded toward Slumberfur. "Why don't you come with me?"
  2. Jinx sighed and lowered her ears, starting to feel like it was her own fault he was being exiled. "I don't understand these forest cats," she huffed. "They tell me to come here, now they punish you for helping me not get killed? Honestly!" She lashed her tail. "Well, don't expect me to be around any longer. I'll be gone, then you can go back to your little camp." She tried to sound dismissive and snobby, but if Slumberfur was listening and looking at her, he could likely tell she was trying to help him by leaving.
  3. That caused Jinx's ears to prick up. She looked at Slumberfur, looking quite surprised. "Wait, those cats made you leave?" she repeated, sounding a little outraged. "Why? You didn't do anything to them!"
  4. "I still got some scratches," Jinx murmured, sounding more like a pouting kit than in any actual pain. "I suppose it'll be fine." She looked at him, noticing he looked upset. "What's the problem? She didn't heal you properly?"
  5. Jinx just kept laying down as Slumberfur let Moonshine inside to tend to his wounds. She had gotten a few scratches but she wouldn't have minded the medicine cat taking a look at them for her. When she left, the housecat flicked her tail. "I'm fine thanks, how are you?" she hissed, dripping with sarcasm.
  6. "I should hope not," Jinx murmured, sighing and lowering her head. "I couldn't live like this all the time. I really miss my home." Her fur bristled as a chilly breeze brushed her. "It's much warmer there too..."
  7. "I'm fine," Jinx confirmed, poking her head out from beneath the cloth. "Cold, scared and hungry, but not hurt." She sighed and lowered her hears. "How do you take living with such risk all the time? It's awful!"
  8. "That's the best thing you've said all day," Jinx agreed. Not needing to be told twice, she hastily padded for the nest and slipped inside. She returned to the cloth and crawled beneath it, becoming a lump. "You think they're gone yet?" she murmured.
  9. Jinx kept on cowering under the blanket, and then pricked up her ears at the sound of more cats. "Oh now what?" she sighed. She padded to the door and poked her head out, seeing more cats had appeared and were driving out the attackers. She looked around and saw her brother was badly beat up. She padded slowly over to him. "Ouch, you really had a rough time..." she mewed, actually sounding concerned for once.
  10. Jinx hissed from the scratches she received, and was relieved that Slumberfur had come to her rescue. Though she had no time to thank him, as he pushed her toward the nest. Before she complained that it hurt, she realised what he was doing and rushed inside, trying not to think about the stinging pain on her side. She flopped down and crawled beneath the old cloth in an attempt to hide herself. "I hate this forest," she sighed.
  11. Jinx's ears pricked up and eyelids raised as Slumberfur was struck by the sudden tom. Before she could do anything, she was pounced by a new she-cat. The plump housecat hadn't fought a day in her life, but she still had her claws. She hastily tried to swipe at the newcomer and kick her off, yowling at her to let her go.
  12. Jinx sighed and followed Slumberfur away from the lake and toward the nest. She didn't like the idea of being part of a war, or even being near one. But her ears pricked up as an idea came to her. Could she perhaps use everyone's fighting as cover to sneak back home? A purr escaped her at the idea. She missed her comfy bed, her easy food and her humans treating her like she should be treated. But a voice in the back of her head told her that leaving her brother behind would be a bad idea. Her ears lowered back down. With all the violent cats, little food, hearing voices in her head and now the new sensation of guilt, she was disliking this forest more and more with every passing moment.
  13. Jinx's ears lowered and her heard skipped a beat. She didn't like the idea of going to war, especially when she technically wasn't meant to be part of it. "What do we do?" she asked him, actually sounding and looking nervous for once.
  14. Jinx tilted her head, listening and trying to make sense of whatever Slumberfur was talking about. But it wasn't that easy to follow, though she got the gist of it. "Do you think that's whythe clouds are covering the sky right now? Because the meeting--sorry, 'Gathering'--was interrupted by those cats?"
  15. "I know that," Jinx hissed, feeling insulted by Slumberfur's comment. "I meant that since you're all having your 'Gathering' and there are cats fighting, so that can't be a good sign, yes?" She glared at him. "If they're connected?" She didn't like the idea of a war--she wanted to be far away from this forest if that ever happened. Her ears flicked when she heard him muttering. "Did you say something?"
  16. Jinx would normally snap at Slumberfur for shutting her up, but her ears had pricked up. Indeed, she could hear something. She lifted one ear up, trying to get a better idea of what was happening. "Sounds like some cats are fighting," she murmured. "Didn't your clans have a meeting tonight?" Even she could tell this wasn't a good sign.
  17. Jinx's fur bristled in irritation at Slumberfur's lashing out, but he had padded off before she could start an argument. She shook her head with a sigh. Fighting wasn't going to help--she needed him, so she couldn't get him to hate her. Not anymore than he already did, anyway. She padded after him to the lake, and looked over it as it came into view. The sight seemed to relax her a bit. "I always wanted to see the lake, but I was... well, I didn't feel like it, is all." she lied; it was obvious she was scared to go near the lake from all the cats near it.
  18. "They had better listen to her," Jinx hissed, suddenly fearing more for her life at the thought of a cat pouncing her out of nowhere out of spite. She sighed and lashed her tail, looking irritated. "I don't want to fight anyone! I just want to go home!" She didn't look demanding this time, now she was more... desperate.
  19. "But isn't she the leader?" Jinx repeated. "They'd have to listen to her, right? Or they'd get in trouble or something." She sighed and lowered her ears. "I suppose... I'm just tired of fearing for my life out here."
  20. Jinx sighed and shook her head. "This is ridiculous... well, I suppose we won't be alone then, if it comes to that." She looked at her brother. "Still, your leader will listen to you, right? If things go wrong, they can always just kick me out of the forest." In fact, she was slightly hoping for that.
  21. "So does that make us fugitives?" Jinx asked, then let out a sigh. "Ugh, and all I wanted was to nap the other day..." She looked back up at the sky again. "You think so? Maybe the others know about them now so they'll stop trying to kill us?"
  22. "Yes, but now they do want to kill me," Jinx pointed out, "and I didn't do anything to them!" She looked up at the sky, flicking her tail. Even she felt unnerved by the cloudy sky. "Wow, they must be very mad... what do you think happened?"
  23. "You're still in the Clan though," Jinx pointed out. "And I dunno, maybe it's because I'm related to you or something?" She flinched when Slumberfur snapped at her, but soon relaxed back down and listened. "It's rather hard to not think the cats here are bloodthirsty when most of them have just threatened to kill me. Plus, as you said, some of them are now dead too." She looked up at the clouded sky, flicking her tail. "Didn't you say there was a meeting or something tonight? Maybe something happened?"
  24. "Maybe they bend the rules depending on the situation?" Jinx suggested, flicking an ear curiously. She really had no clue how it worked, but she was trying to at least piece something together. She narrowed her eyes irritably at what he said. "Thank you," she murmured sarcastically. "Anyway, how bad is the situation? A couple of cats are giving us trouble, so what?"
  25. "Could it be what?" Jinx questioned, tilting her head quizzically. Slumberfur clearly had an idea of something, which further debunked her anger-fuelled accusations earlier. She flicked her tail at his question. "Hm, sounds like something some cats here would say to me."
