Star loomed over a map of the city on the break room table, which depicted backroads and alleys as well as main streets and buildings. She traced her finger along it, going from the police station she was using as a bunker to the supermarket where, hopefully, food and water was still residing.
"If I go down this alley... and through this yard... yeah, they usually don't hang out around back that way."
She walked over to the couch and grabbed a backpack, containing a flashlight and a crowbar sticking out of the top, as well as a small collection of medical supplies. It left plenty of room to carry the food and water she'd need.
She walked over to a backdoor, leading out to the yard surrounded by a chainlink fence and topped with barbed wire, the gate padlocked shut. No walkers in sight.
She slipped out the gate, locking it behind her, and slunk through to the back alleyway.
