  1. Thanks for the critique! I hindsight, I do hear some opportunities where I could have broken the alberti base pattern. I think part of me imagined the piano part as an unchanging music box, with the other parts decorating it.
  2. Thank you!! You can check out my YouTube Channel or my Bandcamp Page. I try to write something new every week!
  3. I felt I needed to write something that apologized for the atonal craziness, that I uploaded to my YouTube channel, last week. Download from my Bandcamp Page!
  4. Maybe when I find myself doing another electronic piece, I'll seek out your help.
  5. Since electronic music isn't exactly my forte (music pun), I pretty much just left the controls for the sawtooth in their preset values. Next time I do something like this, I'll try playing around with it a bit more.
  6. Thanks! Not sure what you're hearing in the sawtooth voice or percussion, but I do have reservations, in retrospect, with the sub bass (especially at 2:57).
  7. Really cool and intense! Definitely heard the "Oh Fortuna" influence. You've got to find someone to sing this because I'm now very curious as to how the lyrics fit in! I would challenge you to spit that piano part into more orchestration. There are some great opportunities for string runs, as well more brass.
  8. I wrote this music for the latest episode of "Pinkie Tales". Pretty simple and straight forward, though I had fun writing the fashion show music.
  9. I thought the mix was okay, but do bring up some good points. Normally, I would go all out with other instruments. However, this was a commission and the guy couldn't afford anything past piano and vocals, but I was nice and added the bass and drums. It would have sounded really empty otherwise.
  10. I'm already back with more MLP music! This time, I'm spreading some Christmas cheer in July...
  11. Thanks for the thorough review! I'll definitely keep those points in mind, when I start on my next piece.
  12. If you end up making anything with it, I'd love to hear it!
  13. Yeah, when using notation software as your playback device, you have to find creative and roundabout ways to get the sound you want.
  14. Thanks! You can assure your anti-virus program that my site is completely safe. There will always been a hint in inauthenticity with any virtual piano, but you can help minimize it by using a weighted MIDI keyboard, feeling out the behavior of the piano, and/or making tweaks to the MIDI sequence data after you record something.
  15. Hey everyone, I'm back again to hawk my virtual instruments! Seriously though, as someone who really found his passion for writing music through the Brony community, I want to give back. I have a number of free virtual instruments on my site that run through Plogue's free SFZ plugin. My newest instrument is a grand piano, that I recorded in a church, and next up is a synth that will be based on a Casiotone keyboard. http://michaelpichermusic.wixsite.com/composer/the-shrine-piano http://michaelpichermusic.wixsite.com/composer/free I make these virtual instruments for myself, since I can't afford the big name libraries, so I hope my fellow budget musicians/composers find them useful as well!
  16. Sorry, I'm not a guitarist and the only guitar I have access to is an old acoustic (which I will be turning into a virtual instrument eventually). However, you could try HumbuckerGuitar (http://www.pettinhouse.com/html/hg.html). There is a free version if you go to their "Downloads" page. I'm sure there are plenty of other virtual guitars elsewhere online, if you look around.
  17. So glad you're finding them useful! Also, when your piece is finished, send me a link!
  18. I have uploaded a bunch of new free SoundFonts to my website! http://michaelpichermusic.wixsite.com/composer/free One is called "Miscellaneous Metal" and it contains an assortment of metallic strike, scrapes, and drones. Perfect if you want to add an industrial edge to your music. Another is "8-Bit Chip", which is a simple tool for create 8-Bit video game-like music. And finally, we have "Binaural Upright Piano". This virtual piano was recorded binaurally, which means it feels like you're sitting right in front of the keys when you play it with headphones on. It also includes key release samples as well as separately recorded samples for when the sustain pedal is both up and down. Have fun playing around with these SoundFonts and if anyone does use them in a piece, I'd love to hear it!
  19. Thank you everyone! This was a fun piece to write.
  20. Just finished this orchestral piece, inspired by that crazy, straight-haired pink horse.
  21. I don't know anything about the Korg Kronos, so I can't help you there. All I know is that the virtual instruments should work in any DAW that can load Sforzando or ARIA Player as a VST or AU.
  22. I promised all you virtual instruments and I'm finally ready to unveil what I have so far... I'm guessing that you'll want to start with the FREE ones, so here you go! http://michaelpichermusic.wixsite.com/composer/free Just use the "Virtual Instrument" drop down menu, at the top of the page, to see the other Soundfonts I have available right now. More to come, including more keyboards and brass instruments. If any of you create pieces or songs with these instruments, I'd love to hear them!
