I really hope we can do this.

Of course mi amigo! The story is going through the rough draft phase (it is rather hard to figure out exactly what a being like Discord has in store) but the core elements and aspects have been fleshed out.

Your character looks good—a thief rogue type would fit in nicely with this story, plenty of treasure to get sidetracked by. ;D

Ooh, I'm interested! My OC Emerald Heart would be PERFECT for this.

That's great! Can you show a character sheet so I can get up to date?

I haven’t done one of these in a while. I’ll sign up with Refund Check as my OC.

Same as Emerald, toss me a character sheet bud, I look forward to it!

  3. "...Hmmm...Mmmh...No, no, no--this isn't right, a myriad of predictable ponies prancing around without danger or risk. Nothing overcome!" Discord's mouth fell into an annoyed frown, watching the daily bustle of Ponyville from a lawn chair atop a roof. Tossing aside his tanning mirrors, sitting up, as the inescapable stagnation of Ponyville griped at his heart once more. "Ever since Twiilght became the new Celestia the progress peace and prosperity of this place has been sickeningly predictable, overwhelmingly, nauseatingly..."

He fumed. And then, an idea struck him.

"...Oh I know what to do~"

This RP is basically based off the premise that Discord proposed an 'illusionary', as he put it, series of trials for heroes of the land to partake in. Absolutely no risk, but the hardship would be 'very real'. Who knows exactly what the draconequus has in store, but his promise to restore and prevent any and all potential death, injury, only use fake monsters and dungeons--but to a reality shifter, the rules on those agreements are rather loose...

That being said, for now, I'm looking for those who would be interested. This is action/adventure if that wasn't clear.

  4. Hiya, lurker here. The designs are for the most part good, but do consider using conventional things, like saddles for the notepads or a 'one size absorbs all' jewel instead of a dozen individual enchantments. Do be wary of stacking on details, sometimes it's best just to merge, or discard details. Beyond that, They seemed a bit forced; I personally never liked the split personality gimmick, because it was categorizing complex emotions characters need for conflict. That's off the bat and probably the kind of critique you wanted to hear, but I'll go on to hear myself ramble.

Now, a concept is not a gimmick to a character, for me. A character's concept is based on three timeless questions, 'Who are they? What do they want above all in the world? What can I do to stop them from getting it?' These questions cover all the critical areas of a character, like personality backstory and conflict, but the ambition in itself is a character's concept. It's what makes them interesting to read about, because the will to act is often an admired trait--that's what you should be focusing on, me thinks.  :muffins:

    Thank you!

I thought I did, but the Internet here is really glitchy, so... My bad.

And as far as guessing what the universe is, well, even the reality as you perceive it might be wrong. Remember, you're the brain--and the brain can't see, smell, taste, or anything, but it DOES have access to sensory organs that give it receptors. Using these receptors, your brain paints it's best guess as to what's going on. You literally hallucinate reality. With this in mind, seeing as almost every sense you have is based upon noticing vibrations (sound waves, light waves, energy vibrating slowly enough you could touch it), isn't it possible that we only experience a fraction of what the universe might be, solely because we lack the means to detect these hypothetical vibrations?

Another theory popularized by Alan Watts is that you call the universe into being, simply by being, yourself. That you are the universe, experiencing itself. That things are only hard, because your skin is soft, things are wet because you're dry, etc. Aspects of reality only become reality to you once you recognize, and give meaning to it. Back to that whole 'if a tree falls, and no-one's around to hear it, does it make a sound?' type philosophy. Basically, without you, there is no universe. And considering that you alone can determine your own reality, it's a plausible idea.

  6. *Sudden presence.*

...I have been waiting for a DBZ roleplay for so long now, that seeing this immediately peaked my interest. Sadly, it seems you're not sure what to do, plot, or setting-wise. Which in itself is the first red flag. I have a few characters that could be great for this, but, I really don't have an interest in an RP destined to die off.

So, I'm gonna go ahead and hold off on joining just yet, but I'll be willing to help you flesh out.

Hey there! I’m new. As you can see by my avatar (as of this post it’s Chirp), I am (or was, before I watched all of the episodes) into Peep and the Big Wide World.

    I have 2 Interests:
Final Fantasy: I LOVE these games! I even completed the first one! I have the first 3 games. I want to play World of Final Fantasy, but I don’t have a PS4…
Art: I can’t draw, but I wish I could. I would draw underwater ponies if I could!
I also want to be part of this cool community! I already have a question in store…

Also, if you want to know why the favorite pony box is blank, it's because I don't have one...

    My Favourite Mane 6 Pony:
How did you find MLP Forums?: I found it on Google. I don't remember the date though. This seems like a great place!
How you became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: I was surfing through the Loud House wiki (my old favorite show), and I went on the ”Sleuth or Consequences” page. I read that page, and I checked out the “References” part. It said there was a My Little Pony reference. I was like, “What’s it like?”, so I used my Dragon Box to watch the first episode. Then I got hooked, mainly at this part of the opening: https://youtu.be/8mVAqn3C5vI?t=53s. It was still pretty good before that, but that’s what mainly kicked it off for me. I was so hooked that I watched the entire series!

Hiya! I don't usually greet the newbies, but I'm feeling a bit productive today. Welcome to the herd, buckaroo. Just remember Princess Celestia is the objectively best pony. :muffins:

  8. Holy f:muffins:ck, an RP that isn't a 1x1!

I'm down to join; and I'll be bringing along my trusty old character Rune. Who's page I've rather lost track of...No worries, he fits all your requirements, and I could potentially find his character page again if you so wish.

Another thing that I'd like to do, is take the reigns of one of the canon characters; Celestia, Luna, or otherwise, I'd be glad to, if you'll accept it.

  9. Oh, definitely. I've read enough bad RP stories on Reddit to know 'the outcast' is usually a flop to play in group efforts. Prentice'll warm up soon enough, don't worry. She's not edgy--at least I hope not.

And I'll need a concrete answer--PM or nah?

  10. @PonyOfDespair

Glad ya think so! And that works, although I've a few other ideas. Mostly purple themed colors, lavender, violet, all that good shit. Oh--and fair warning, she's pretty anti-social.

I've got something in mind; I'll tell if you want, but I'd prefer to keep it a secret. But for now--that's my application.

  11. Okay!

So sorry for the delay, but I found myself without a laptop for a good few days and typing such a long response seemed too daunting to do on mobile.

Anyways! The latter choice is Prentice. A mage chick, wandering around, comes from a wealthy family so it's no stretch for her to get an invite--although, she's currently abroad in travels. If the invitation would find her, then this doesn't really make much of a problem.

Her application, if she had one:

    Character Name: [Firstname] Prentice

Role: Primarily Mage, Tactician, potential for a Constructor

    OC page link: :derp:

Additional info: She's an adapt mage, and has potential to become even great, having a broad understanding of magic, her output and mana pool being broad and deep enough to enable her to cast complex, powerful spells. She's part of a 'pureblood' family, one that might even have selective breeding to their name. As a result, she's naturally talented--a little miss perfect when it comes to casting spells; a prodigy.

However, from such a heritage, she's developed something a rare form of genetic disease, one that corrodes her mana pool--and accelerates when she casts magic. As a result, her willingness towards casting magic has dampened, and reserved for when she truly needs to...She houses medicine, that she carries around on hoof, that slows the disease, although at times she'll still break into fits of coughing.

Her appearance is a wide-rimmed wizard's hat, covering most of her features, along with a cloak that provides a perfect traveler's attire, without being too rugged. She has a pair of saddlebags to house her belongings while she's off searching for a cure, and often times, she'll be seen with a necklace--a family heirloom...

As for changes, I'm not sure! I don't want to go with something generic, like swapping genders; nor do I want to do something drastic for her, like curing her illness. I suppose I'll be open to debate, for this bit.

  12. ...Ah screw it, I guess I'll be throwing in my lot. It's been way too long since I've RP'd on these forums.

    Character Name: Tsuneo

    Role: Warrior/Tactician/Constructor

OC page link: Unfortunately, I don't have one! But if you'd like, I'd be happy to give a rundown.

Tsuneo is a komusō, hailing from a foreign land commonly referred to as Japone in these forums. The komusō are mendicants, monks of nothingness, practicing a form of Zen Buddhism once the practice made their way to their land. And once samurai found themselves outlawed, with no further need for a blade, many of them--ronin--decided to join the komusō's ranks, implementing their own teachings to the monks. A bit of a stretch to implement real life history into a character, but I feel like such isn't a stretch considering we know next to nothing about foreign lands in Equestria. Feel free to tweak it as you will; it's your roleplay.

Tsuneo is an old ronin turned monk, who practices the zen lifestyle of a komusō, but hasn't quite let go of the teachings of a samurai, either. A good balance of the two, he travels as mendicants do, playing his songs for coin, carrying his possessions upon his back...

Additional info: Tsuneo wears foreign garbs, carries three bags on his back, and a bedroll just behind his neck. And of course, has the iconic basket on his head. Sadly, he isn't much of a name to be drawn, considering his humble, drifting nature--but he very well could find himself traveling there regardless, visiting the beach side if only to observe the natural beauty.

As for change in ability, I think a sudden change in aging would be fun to play for Tsuneo. Slowly growing younger, back into his prime--but perhaps, such very well might be a curse...

    ---

If this is unsatisfactory, then I can pull out my other character in desperate need of fleshing out, if you'd like. :muffins:
