New OC! She doesn't have a name yet, I'm hoping for something maybe jester themed, or just generally mischievous sounding. I wanted to challenge myself to try and make a design inspired by a palette, since I haven't done that in a few years, I didn't expect to like the design so much. This is the palette she was based off of, but I didn't end up following it exactly.

Here's a little sketch I did of a character I bought from someone on deviantart recently. Strangely enough, this might be my favorite out of everything I've drawn this year.

I will do everything I can to keep you safe. For as long as I live. Cecilia with her mother, Evonne. Kind of a late Mother's Day thing. Evonne probably wasn't the best mother, she didn't really understand how to interact with children very well, but she did try her best to keep Cecilia shielded from the dark things going on around them. Before Cecilia managed to escape her old life, her mom was the only good thing in her world, and she misses her terribly. More about Cecilia here: fav.me/dd1hdss

Wow, thank you so much! ! I wasn't expecting to come back and find any replies, these are both such kind compliments, thank ya'll so much for the feedback! I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. Here's my most recent drawing! A merpony design I put up for sale on deviantart since it's MerMay. I thought she would sell well, but surprisingly there hasn't been much interest so far.

New OC I bought from someone on dA, her name is Keilani (but I'm thinking she goes by Kit). She's sort of a spoiled princess kind of character.

Colored portrait sketch for Akemiarts1 on deviantart, of her draconequus character Opalescence. This one was a challenge, her hair was really complicated but I think it came out okay.

Haha, I love that nickname for him. Thanks! He was supposed to have a wise, scholarly, slightly frazzled look to him, but I feel like the goatee (or maybe it's the hair) makes him look a little more suave/Johnny Depp-esque than I intended. After what you and Quinch pointed out, I can kinda see a resemblance to Eris, yeah. Mostly the tooth and the way the eyes are colored. First time hearing that comparison though. Thank you so much! I really worried for a long time that I'd never develop a style I liked and felt like was recognizable, but I think I'm getting there. Haha, wow, thank you so much! I appreciate that a lot. Thank you so much! Oh, while I'm here, here's a drawing I finished yesterday of my former changeling princess OC, Reyna:

I want to start posting art again, but I want to start a new thread instead of continuing my old one from years ago. The old thread can be found here. Check it out to see how much I've improved! I think I'm finally getting to a point where I like my art style, but I still need to work on poses and expressions. I haven't finished a ton of art this year, but I've been pretty active in the past week or so, so hopefully that will change. I'll go from oldest to newest and show my favorite art from this year. This was an adoptable design I sold. I love browns and golds, especially together. Another adoptable design I sold. A sketch of a character I'm designing for myself, Caius. I'm having a hard time picking colors for him though. A commission of a pretty character named Moonstruck. <3 A YCH commission featuring a character named Acacia Blossom. A portrait sketch commission. Another YCH commission, I love this character's design. And these last two were done yesterday: My bat pony OC, Kari. And Cecilia, my half demon pony. A height comparison between the two, Cecilia is average and Kari's short:
  14. Thank you! Ha, if you think he's feminine, you should see the stallion I bought a year or two ago - he was designed by the same girl who asked for this gothic pony. Thank you! Thanks! I struggled with the colors a bit, but the combination she settled on really ended up working great. And here's a new character I designed last night, for myself. I chose the name Despina, which means lady-like. Not a very ponyish name, but she's not exactly an average looking pony, either. Not as clean as my other stuff; it's more of just a cleaned up sketch than an actual finished drawing.
  15. Alright, turned this into an art thread so I'll be posting my new stuff here as well. This is a design I finished yesterday for a friend and artist that I really admire. She wanted a Gothic, feminine male, with plenty of freckles, because we're both very much obsessed with freckled ponies. I showed her the design with a few different palettes and this is the one she decided on. He turned out hardly Gothic at all but she seemed to really like him anyway, so that's good c: That was the last thing on my to-do list. I'M FREE. For the first time all year, I don't owe anyone any art. Drawing for other people stresses me out because I'm afraid of not meeting their expectations, I guess, and then I end up putting it off and just taking forever. I originally intended to just spend this year focusing on personal art/developing my characters, but then in January a bunch of people ended up asking me for things and I have a hard time saying no. But now I can finally relax.
  16. SwanQueen - aka Emma Swan and Regina Mills from Once Upon A Time. I swear that show has the coolest ship names! I love this pairing so much - until I think about the fact that technically Regina is Emma's grandmother...but only legally, no blood relation, so even that fact that discourage me. I just think it would be great if Henry could have both of his moms together, under one roof.
  17. For this generation, Twilight. But if we wanna get technical, although I never watched the older generation movies/shows, I had a bunch of the toys when I was little and I absolutely loved Star Catcher.
  18. Thanks a lot! I'm glad you like them.
  19. Thank you! I've been focusing on learning how to do the show's style this year, since in the 3+ years I've been drawing ponies I never learned to do it properly/entirely accurately, but I do hope to veer off into my own style at some point. I want to incorporate character variation; I don't want all of my characters to look the same. I like giving them different features and body types based off of their race, personality, history, etc. And with the show's style, I feel like I wouldn't be able to...make the characters look as different from each other as I'd like? Not entirely sure how to put it. I'm looking at your art right now; it's awesome! Definitely gonna watch you back. Thank you! I really appreciate it
  20. EDIT: I'm going to turn this into my own art thread - I think that'd be better than me clogging the forums with a new thread every other day. I figured, since this is my first post in the art section, I might as well make an art dump showing my favorite drawings from December & this year. Also some old stuff at the bottom for giggles. Heads up -- I have an addiction to adopting/purchasing pony designs from deviantart so most of these characters weren't designed by me, though all art is of course my own. I would credit the designers but...I feel like that would be breaking the rules somehow? Dunno. Also most of the names were suggested by my friends or chosen by the person who designed the pony, because I'm terrible at coming up with names. Same drawing as my icon, just without all the light effects. Her name's Crasher. She enjoys surfing, getting involved with protecting marine life, sea turtles, and lazing around with her boyfriend Bright Eyes. Silver Slay, but just goes by Slay. I don't know much about him as a character yet but I imagine he's some sort of villain, or antihero at the least. Permanently scowling and probably doesn't get much sleep. Ivory Wave. Shark-tail bat pony? thing. He's a pretty quiet and unfriendly guy but he's not too bad. He's in a relationship with another one of my shark tail ponies but I'm having trouble deciding which one...the sweet blonde who could bring out the best in him, or the one who's just as strong-willed as he is and would love him to death but still wouldn't put up with his crap. Lovenotes. Unlike the others, she was designed and named by me. She usually wears her hair in a low ponytail and her bangs kind of resemble Ariel's. She doesn't normally wear a giant bow on her back. This was just a fun little doodle. xD Halima. Designed by a friend by named by me. At this point I'd pretty much given up giving ponies names that fit the show and started veering into the human name category. xD Halima means gentle. Copy & pasted from my deviantart description: "She's very self-conscious about her tail and her chest fluff since they make her different from most of the other ponies, but if she's being honest with herself, she likes her fluffy chest. When she's embarrassed she wishes she could just disappear into it, become a giant ball of fluff and stay like that until whoever's bothering her gets bored and goes away." Evaine, named by me but she was designed by the same girl who designed Ivory. I've had this girl for about 2-3 year but this was the first time I've drawn her. Her hair has always reminded me of blue fire. This one was done just the other day c: Her name is Moon Wishes, designed and named by me. I love colored lighting so I really wanted to try that out for a change. I'm really happy with how it came out. I've been doing a lot of headshots/portrait drawings this year, so I've gotten a little incredibly rusty when it comes to drawing bodies, so this was practice; I used a screenshot as reference. And this was another quick practice from reference done last night (technically this morning - 5 am - I sleep weird hours though so it feels more like last night than this morning). More fun with light. No name or anything for this character, I'm not even sure if I'm going to keep her, but her hair was fun to draw. Alright, that's pretty much it for my best recent stuff, but since I make designs pretty much more than I draw even my own characters, I should probably show some of those, too. Here are some designs I sold a while back: [linked out for size, I assume that's allowed] And just for giggles, take a look at my first two attempts at drawing ponies digitally, both done in January of 2012: For some reason I put my signature where her cutie mark is...? Okay then. I hope it's okay, posting this many pictures...I read the global rules but I couldn't find any rules for this particular section of the forum. Hm.
  21. It's..quite pitiful, actually. xD I sometimes mouth or breathe the words when I'm alone, but that's pretty much all I'll do. My mom and my fourteen year old sister both swear pretty casually from time to time, so you'd think it'd be fine if I do it as well - especially since I turned 18 in December - but not too long ago my sister thought I swore, and both she and my mom flipped out on me. I hate conflict, so I just don't do it, because I don't want them getting in my face about it, even if it is unfair and hypocritical of them. At this point I don't even know if I'll swear once I move out.
  22. Keebler's Danish Wedding cookies! They're my mom's ex-husband's (my half-brother's father but not mine) favorite and I used to eat them whenever we'd go over to his house. Haven't had them in ages, and now I really want some. I swear I would eat the entire box in one sitting if I could. I also like M&M cookies and Nutella cookies as well, but Danish Wedding cookies are fantastic. If you haven't tried them yet I really suggest you do.
  23. Not exactly. I enjoyed school for the most part, but I always had so much trouble getting up in the mornings. My parents eventually got tired of battling with me during middle school so I switched over to homeschooling. I tried to go back to school for high school, but again I had trouble getting up in the morning, and about a week into it my mom asked if I wanted to go back to homeschooling. I agreed, but I've regretted it ever since. :< If I'd been fully awake when she asked me I would've opted to stay in school. It's something that I struggle not to think about because I really, really wished I'd gone and now it's too late.
  24. I don't play video games a lot (wish I could, just can't afford games most of the time) but when I bought my PS3 for Christmas, it came with a bundle of games, including Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. I played it last month and I really enjoyed it, even though I've never played any of the other games in the series...but I take Vamp seriously with his style of fighting, how it was like dancing. With his design and voice, I certainly wasn't expecting him to move the way he did!
  25. It depends on your personality...For me, I'm really not sure. I'm tempted to say Fluttershy, since she's shy and I don't talk much at all, but if you put me in a room with someone else who doesn't talk much, nothing will be said and it'll get pretty boring fast. I tend to be the most comfortable around goofy people, so I'd probably get along with Pinkie Pie the best. She's not my favorite by far but with her personality I'm sure she could easily become anyone's best friend. EDIT: Ooh! I'm glad to see AJ's getting a lot of votes. I'm one of those people who feels like she needs way more love than she gets.
