  1. Good Idea. I have played with that kind of effect with other stuff but not on hair yet. I'll give that a go next time perhaps. Thanks, and glad you liked it overall Paper and pens for the draft and then Adobe Illustrator for the rest.
  2. I am getting faster ad doing these now. This took me maybe half the time it did about a week ago. Also I can finally cross derpy off my list of ponies to do art for. I think I finally got the muzzle/mouth from this angle right too. Not sure about how I did on the hair shading though. Derpy's hair is so plain its hard to do much. Also forgot to do the highlights but, live and learn right? Thoughts? Opinions? Love? Hate? Etc?
  3. By 3D he means just working with perspectives. This is something I have troubles with sometimes too, luckily I have found ponies to be a bit easier to manage. That said, I am afraid I would not be able to explain very well. The only suggestion I could confidently give is the generic, look at an image and try and copy the lines. However I stress that when I say copy I don't mean try and make it exact, you will drive yourself mad to try to do that. If your first few sketches look bad, redo it over a few times till you get the idea of the shapes you need. http://imgur.com/cDIfCOw Here's an example, this is the image I am working on right now. By no means was the image perfect at any step, but I do a lot of cleanup of my lines in post. I numbered them to show what my progression was. I'm not sure if any of my post was much help but I hope it is encouragement at the least.
  4. I really can not stress how fantastic this community is. Art is something I dropped years and years ago thinking I would never make anything anyone had not seen before or would be interested in anymore then people far more skilled then myself. The encouragement that comes out of the MLP fanbase is one of the best I have ever experienced. This piece, although just practice, is something that years ago I would have tossed out or never displayed for being to mediocre (Altho I never made anything even this good in the past ) and you seem to be able to see something more to it then I, the maker of the piece, can not. I really really do appreciate all the feedback I have been getting on all my pieces, positive, neutral or negative, here and other places I have been posting it up. I have gotten at least one new piece out a day nearly since I have started because of the feedback you all give. I know that was a bit long-winded and sort of out of nowhere, but it is something I wanted to express. In short, thanks.
  5. Thanks, it's not my best work but it was fun to do. I did this project to play with background/scenery making, the rest just sort of happened.
  6. This has a low framerate for the animation, only 3 frames, but when I started I never planned to animate it in the first place. So ya, If I had done a 6 frame I could have smoothed it out nicer. So Spice.
  7. Haha, that is pretty funny, I did not consider the poses too much when I made these. Glad some of you find the style intresting
  8. Shes drawing how much other ponies think she is great. That's like bragging on her own greatness still, right?
  9. -whispers- I'll pass the idea on to Trixie. But seriously, I see about scripting the idea up. Bonus points if you send the request officially through Trixiecraft's ask thing. That way I can properly screenshot it Worstcase I could get away with a screenshot here though, I guess I don't really care that much
  10. More Trixiecraft stuff for you to eat with your eyes.
  11. Finished the forth Trixiecraft today.
  12. I finished doing the digital work on these. This was a fun style to play with cause it was quick to do cause I wasn't focusing too much on 'accuracy' and I got to practice some other stuff I had previously learn and got to put in a few new skills too. Thoughts and opinions?
  13. I actually find it interesting which people like. If I was to have guessed I would have said people would not have liked the Rarity one much. I would have figured the Applejack would have been most preferred. Anyone else wanna tell me which they like most? It's interesting
  14. Ya, was mostly just goofing around. Was more about the pen drawing for me without thinking too much about accuracy or anything.
  15. Playing with another style again. I will probably do some kind of digital work on them later if I have the time today.
  16. Probably cause its lopsided. Misshapen things are always cute, right?
  17. Thanks, I could have probably spent a little more time making it a bit cleaner, but I just wanted to get something done today. Glad you think it looks accurate.
  18. I was working on something else and I was having a ton of problems and ended up getting frustrated and I think I will need to restart it which sucks. So instead I made this apple tree, I need to work on background stuff anyway so I guess that's good.
  19. Glad I got some laughs I am happy people seem to like my pointy ponies It's what I would do if I could control the moon.
  20. Partially intentional, if I was to finish the scene it would have been dawn, sun just rising and whatnot. So I tried to mimic how the colors might look. Without finishing it though its hard to tell if my coloring really matches that. All the same, glad you think it is good. I am trying to apply new skills with each new piece. The one part on this one that specifically bothers me is the tail, I feel like I should have redone it but at the time I had already spend about 5+ hours on this and you have to eventually throw your hands up and say 'done' or you cold work on it forever.
  21. Thanks, I was pretty happy with this one.
  22. Thanks These have been a lot of fun to do on the side.
  23. As it often does, this took me a lot longer then I had planed for, but I think this is one of my best so far. Full Link
