  1. Rarity won me over quickly. She reminded me of myself in so many ways. Even her element of generosity fit. Generous to a fault. She's my favorite of the mane six. When I see her cry in the show I wanna hug her. I'd sonic rain boom any day to save her.
  2. The first time I tried um...haha something very illegal we'll say. But I had a very fulfilling experience where I felt one with the universe. It transformed my life forever and was hands down one of the best things I have ever done for myself. I use to suffer from severe depression and anxiety, and while I still have those to a degree, the amount of introspection changed me for the better. It was truly a transcendent experience and I felt connect with nature. I felt absolute solidarity with other forms of life, from the birds in the sky to the spiders I let crawl on my hand. That experience is something nobody will ever take away from me.
  3. My OC is based on my real self and the progression and changes I've experienced in life. I connected a lot with Luna, especially during the nightmare night episode and took a lot of inspiration from her as well as other source materials (harry potter, star wars, etcetc.) I LATER found out people hate on alicorns, which my character is. This only made me want to be an alicorn more.
  4. I find it silly when people think you can flip sexuality on and off like a switch. The shift in social pressure is allowing people to be themselves. When Foliha says they are more likely to "come out" that' exactly it. How many more people are going to live desperate lives of self hate and guilt before we just accept one another. We need to keep pushing for a better world, and while brony is just a fandom about colorful dancing singing ponies it's the kind of direction we desperately need to go in. Empathy can't be seen as weakness. Brony also doesn't conform to gender roles which make people uncomfortable. To that I say, hell with your gender roles bigots! Boy's don't cry is a huge lie. I'm harsh and cold on the outside but it's a defense mechanism, I don't want people to take advantage of my generosity. I could go on and on about gender roles and how they harm people and how BOTH genders are responsible for them but I digress. I'm a fan of the enlightenment movement. The never ending quest to discover the truth. We need solidarity not this tribal ape minded "US AGAINST THEM" thinking. Hopefully we will see more things like MLP in the future. And another thing, be nice to your fellow brony. Set a positive example.
  5. Buzz has a point, I liked the show WAY before I openly admitted it. I felt pressure to ignore it as another fad. The speed it's picked up exposed me to it in a much more positive light. Be warned though, bronies are their own worst enemies. We've seen what has happened in the furry fandom. While generally people are awesome the minority of jerks will ruin it all. It's interesting how things like MLP are almost a counter culture to the hateful world we now see around us. We have fundamentalist decapitating people because they think differently, psychopathic patriots being put up on a pedestal as heroes for the same reason, an entire country (North Korea) ruled by a man who demands to be called god while starving his people. The response is a shift in culture. People are valuing ideas like friendship, caring, honesty, and acceptance. As a society we need to openly embrace these concepts. What's so wrong with being a compassionate person?
  6. My character is an alicorn and a reflection of the real me. As characters they have to be done right. Just like ANY OTHER RACE IN THE SERIES. I see crappy characters of all kinds but none get it as hard as alicorns. Even the well thought out ones are just hated on. Very in the MLP spirit people. I put a lot of thought into him and designed him to be a villain character the mane 6 may someday confront and save him from himself.
  7. A lot of bronies don't practice what they preach and are outright hypocrites. They demand acceptance but then spit venomous hate amongst themselves. I for one take the lessons of the show to heart. Want an example of what I mean? I'm an alicorn. Now tell me there aren't people out there who just immediately judge before getting to know me or my character. "durrr hurr alicorns are OP or whatever everyone else is saying." "Yer character is black and red? Yooo stoopid!" I have a love hate relationship with this fandom, which is why I am a brony but haven't been a very social one.
  8. Steele Heart is a very strong minded alicorn. His biggest weakness is by far his anger. He becomes enraged by injustice and lets his hatred get the best of him. It has costed him dearly a few times in his backstory. Also the unstable nature of his dark magic. It's unnatural, a sentiment left after his encounters with King Sombra. It has caused him a lot of problems.
  9. Rarity is my favorite and someone I would want to be close friends with. However, that wasn't what the poster was asking. Honestly, when you really think about it Twilight is the only answer that makes sense to me.
  10. Steele Heart has a few meanings. I've always been fond of the name Steele. It reflects an unmovable will. Conversely, this alicorn descends into a villain, taking on the term steel to be a symbol of tyranny and adapting a cold outlook on life. He has a heart of gold but he won't let anyone see it.
  11. Go for it. Looking into things first hand is the best way to learn. All too often people have agendas. I personally prefer the brutal truth, even if it is shocking.
  12. The accounts of what he actually did while in service. He wrote a book first which the movie was later based on He lied about going after Jesse Ventura, who later sued the crap out of him and won. Cult of Dusty had a pretty funny video on it that could sum up my thoughts :
  13. Luna, no questions asked. Maybe Rarity as a close second. Luna would help chase away nightmares. Plus I admire strong minded women.
  14. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain By far the best looking game I've ever seen. I'm so pumped for it to come out.
  15. If you have time. No worries if you don't get to him. ^^; Steele Heart before his transformation: http://postimg.org/image/o1pr3upqf/ Steele Heart after his unfortunate encounter with Sombra: http://postimg.org/image/agqxpwowd/
  16. A movie about a sniper in the middle east. It's based on a "true story" but it's riddled with lies and shameless war propaganda.
  17. I think religion is incoherent white noise. It's intellectually dishonest and a major threat to civilization. We are moral simply out of human solidarity. Telling people, "and if you're not good you burn in hell," is not moral teaching. If anything, that's child abuse. "Religion is like a blind man, in a black room, looking for a black cat that isn't there, and then finding it." Transcendent experience of the natural world is possible without woo woo spooky words and nonsense. I don't use the word climate skeptics. I'm a skeptic. I prefer the term climate denier. The planet is all f***ed up. We have FACTS and science to prove it. End of argument. The real debate should be, "so what do we do about it?" I think Chris Kyle, the American Sniper, is a psychopath and shouldn't be paraded around like a hero. He lied about so many things and even took pleasure in killing people. People who praise him should look at the facts and be ashamed of themselves. That film reminds me of Nazi war propaganda. It's shameless and disgusting. It's about as revolting as the anti-Semitic disaster "The Passion of the Christ." Do people not ask questions anymore, or do you simple swallow what's shoved in your face? Go ahead and drink your koolaid I guess. I think alicorn OCs kick ass and people who judge others for it...well looks like you need to watch a few episodes of MLP and learn a lesson or two about acceptance. I think MLP should cover the subjects of LGBT people but handle it in a way a child could understand. You don't even need to mention sex, simply romantic intent. We have it all the time in MLP, rarity obsessing over some guy, spike obsessing over rarity, the entire hearts and hooves day episode, etc etc. To say, "we shouldn't have anything like that in a kids show" is to imply there is something wrong with being gay or however you identify.
  18. The images for season 5 remind me of 1984 or some other Orwellian dystopia. Even the ponies who are smiling seem like they are doing so under duress. "Be happy or else, don't question anything." Now I want to laugh thinking about a pony version of Kim Jong Il.
  19. I regularly wear a very small, subtle necklace of Big Mac. I'm very open about being a fan but I don't shove it down anyone's throat. That necklace is the only hint. My friends are cool with it. And if they weren't? Well I could always find better friends who accept me. Thankfully, I'm kind of a scary guy so no one has ever given me flak for liking the show. :comeatus:
  20. My Favourite Mane 6 Pony: Rarity How did you find MLP Forums?: Slowly I'm becoming more interested in the MLP fandom. I simply searched MLP forum and this site popped up. Seemed like a nice place. ^^ How you became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: I was having a really bad day...week...etc. A close friend of mine is a fan of MLP and showed me an episode to cheer me up. Being someone who loves cartoons, good voice acting, and fluid animation, I found the show extremely charming right away. I was impressed by the character development. I have a passion for art, music, and writing. I've played piano since I was 9 and know a few other instruments. I draw but it's mediocre at best. Mostly I just sketch for my own entertainment. Writing is a passion of mine and something I have a degree in. My other degree is in Telecommunications, which is a long word for media/tv/radio/film/etc. ^^; I love making short films with my friends and hope to pursue a career in the film industry one day. The genera I do best is horror. I'm a "freethinker" and love science. I'm open minded to discussion, especially on heavy subjects most people tend to avoid. I'm always game for a good debate. Christopher Hitchens is one of my favorite writers and someone who inspired me to have a voice. I have an OC but I'm a little hesitant to share him just yet. People on the internet are pretty harsh and quick to judge. Plus, maybe there is a better place on the forums to share and develop characters? Anyhow, I'm happy to join the herd and talk with other fans about the show. While I'm not a hardcore brony I love the show and how it cheers me up when I need it. I hope to maybe make some new friends. ^^;
