8/10, beautiful and quite underrated Jovi song.
-
I dunno, the show has been critically well received so I don't know why the movie wouldn't be, if done right of course. I don't expect it to be a critical darling but I wouldn't be surprised if its RT score was at least somewhere in the 70s, which is far from bad. On the topic of Oscar nominations, I think Best Animated Film would be pushing it. AFAIK, at least 15 animated movies have to be submitted to the Academy in order for the category to get five nominations, otherwise it just gets three. Best case in point here is probably 2010, where only Toy Story 3, How To Train Your Dragon and The Illusionist got in. This was the same year we had Despicable Me and Tangled, and I think had there been more submissions that year, they could've easily got the last two spots. So MLP would have to go up against at least 14 other films just to stand a chance of getting into the final five, and while it obviously depends on the quality of its competition, I don't see it happening. Getting nominated for musical score and/or Best Original Song sound very plausible though; if the Lego and South Park movies can get nominated in the latter then I'd say it's very possible.

5/10, a pleasant listen but I thought it was too long and didn't really go anywhere.

movies/tv Friends (T.V. Series) Discussion Thread
Golden Star replied to Vulcan's topic in Media Discussion
I'm currently watching it right now on Comedy Central, it's The One With All The Resolutions. Ross: My leather pants aren't coming on and the lotion and powder have made a paste! Joey: What colour is it? Ross: What difference does that make? Joey: Well if the paste matches the pants, you could make yourself a pair of paste pants and she won't know the difference! -
movies/tv Who liked Ghostbusters 2016 like I did?
Golden Star replied to TheMarkz0ne's topic in Media Discussion
I would score it a 5/10. It had some major problems but I thought it wasn't that bad, and certainly better than its pre-release reputation suggested. -
movies/tv Friends (T.V. Series) Discussion Thread
Golden Star replied to Vulcan's topic in Media Discussion
Oh I have always been a huge fan of this show, and have watched it from beginning to end too many times to count. Yes it's been more than overplayed in reruns and is a bit dated today, but I still love watching it again and again. -
7/10. I found his voice a bit grating at times, but still a pretty fun and humourous song.

Not usually my genre, but I enjoyed that. 7/10 You're not the only Bon Jovi fan around here, Lulaypp.

Very cheesy but I really like it. 8/10

Video not available. I still went on YouTube and found a different video with the song, and I would give it a 6/10.

6/10, I'm not a Blink fan but that wasn't bad.

Any possible character deaths?
Golden Star replied to asdfmovienerd39's topic in My Little Pony: The Movie (2017)
Right now I think the only character death I could accept and understand is probably Celestia, and the only way I would accept it is if it tied into a subplot about her telling Twilight that she would like her to take over as ruler of Equestria one day. Naturally Twilight doesn't feel she'll ever be up to such a daunting task, but is left with no choice when Celestia suddenly dies. Understandably, this scenario is practically identical to one featured in How To Train Your Dragon 2, but I could still see it working here. Maybe at some point Twilight could finally ask Celestia a question I'm kinda surprised she never has before; out of all of her students, why was she so special in her mentor's eyes? Maybe Celestia could reveal that she was looking for a successor for her position and she saw that potential in Twilight more than anypony else. Maybe this was her plan for Twilight from the very beginning, but she just had to learn to grow as a princess in her own way before she could take over from her. This could effectively bring Twilight's story completely full circle and link the entire series together. It's also the only scenario I can think of where a character death wouldn't be pointless. While seeing anypony die would obviously be very sad, this one could still serve a purpose to character and story progression, rather than the movie simply having an emotional scene just for the sake of it. I'm probably getting ahead of myself though as it's unlikely any such moment would ever happen. I would be tempted to say that it may not have worked out for Hasbro when they tried it with Optimus Prime, but that was 30 years ago and times have changed since then, but even so, MLP is not Transformers. Even today I doubt it would ever go that dark. -
EqG mini vinyls wave 2- Sunset, Vinyl Scratch, Flash Sentry
Golden Star replied to ManaMinori's topic in Merchandise
DJ Pon-3 (who I bought the other day), Flash Sentry, and (I think) the Mane 6 in fall formal attire are all out now. I saw Fall Formal Rarity and Rainbow Dash in my nearest store but none of the others. And I think Sunset Shimmer is out in August. As for future EQG minis, I'd definitely like to see them make the Dazzlings, Sci-Twi, Lyra and Bon Bon, possibly the CMC, and puppy Spike sold separately. -
spoiler And we have our new waifu-stealer
Golden Star replied to TheAnimatorOfficial's topic in Equestria Girls
It's too soon to tell. And for all we know, this new guy could be nothing like Flash. He could actually be a somewhat interesting character and could share even a smidgeon of chemistry with whoever his love interest is. What I think is inevitable though is that before and after the movie is released, much of the fandom will hate him for simply existing. -
So I saw this really strange, out of nowhere, message featuring this pony OC seemingly taking over other people's videos. The character is known as CarToonZ, he originates from ToonKriticY2K, and his "message" basically says he is allegedly going everywhere and targeting pony reviewers. I've seen him on videos from MisAnthropony and Lightning Bliss among others and I'm honestly confused. I assume it's all a harmless bit of fun and an attempt to spawn an ongoing prank or meme, but does anyone know why it's happening or how it started?

Totally agree with this. I know Starlight is not the most popular character, but like it or not, she is part of established canon and she does have her fans, so I think it would be wrong to leave her out. I do agree that she shouldn't be the focus though. Speaking of focus, I don't want any of the Mane 6 to be downplayed. While I think Twilight should be the lead character as she always has been throughout the series, each of the Mane 6 should have a relatively even amount of screen time and at least one memorable moment to themselves. And finally, and probably most controversially, the subject of character death. I doubt it will happen, but I wouldn't actually be against it happening in the movie as long as it happened for a good reason. Obviously such an event would be very dramatic and emotional, but if it served a good purpose to the overall narrative or a certain character's arc, instead of happening just for the sake of having an emotional scene, and if executed correctly of course, then I don't think I'd have a big problem with it. Like I said, I doubt they'll take that big a risk though.

music The Muse Discussion/Appreciation thread!
Golden Star replied to TePineer's topic in Media Discussion
Yay MUSE! One of my all-time favourite bands. My opinion may have some regional bias to it as I'm also from Devon, but even without that, I've always loved them for their music, creativity, energy, and their outlandish live performances. My favourite song of theirs (if I had to pick) would probably be either Butterflies & Hurricanes or Knights of Cydonia, and similarly, my favourite album would be either Absolution or Black Holes. I've seen them live once, it was in Birmingham on their 2nd Law Tour, and it was incredible. Typically, earlier this year, they were playing in Manchester the same weekend I was over there for BUCK. In fact, they were playing the Friday night before, but that show was sold out long before I realised it was on, and I wouldn't have gone anyway as I think it would've made me too exhausted to go to BUCK the next day.- 2 replies
