Best. Episode. Of the season. So. Far! I don't even know where to begin in praising this episode! Ashleigh ball really killed it in terms of her voice acting and there were so many facial expressions that are just waiting for their memes to come in. They did a great job with a continuity from the running of the leaves to the weather factory and that Game of Thrones reference was something I did not see coming! Also, the song in this episode was fantastic and goes right up there with Find A Pet! Plus, the background music was top notch and some of the best background music the series has given us! Also, I can't leave out the visuals. They just get better and better! But the highlight of the episode by far was having to say goodbye to Tank. We saw MA Larson tweeted an apology about something that was going to happen in this episode and that was it. I have to admit, I teared up when all the ponies cried (save for Twilight and Applejack) on having to say goodbye having gone through the experience myself of saying goodbye to a pet for the last time. I've never seen Rainbow that emotional before, and they really hit a home run with that particular scene! Cindy Morrow did some excellent writing for this episode and I can't wait to see more from her! Also,Thanks, MA Larson.

I liked this episode! It was hinted at that Princess Luna was going to appear in Apple Bloom's dream as she did with the other two CMC, but the biggest surprise was Big Mac actually talking even if it was a dream sequence along with Babs Seed getting her cutie mark. I actually hope she comes back to show off what her talents are. The writers made some great nods towards both Inception and Groundhog Day. I also thought it was pretty cool that Princess Luna has the ability to show other dreams. We also got some more insight as to what the CMC really want to be good at. It's been hinted at many times, but now we got a much more clearer picture of it. One last thing I noticed is how Michelle Creber's voice sounds older. Before I'd mainly hear it in Scootaloo's voice and a bit in Sweetie Belle's voice as it didn't crack as much, but this time, I can definitely hear it Apple Bloom's voice.

This wasn't a bad episode at all. I'm glad that the rest of the group realized their mistake on their own even though it was very sweet of them to try and come together to help Twilight. I have to admit the part where we got to the see the leftover tree was a pretty emotional scene and it's a shame that they had to tear down what was left of it. You honestly can't blame Twilight for missing her old home and not being as eager to go back to the castle. However, that chandelier from the rest of the girls was very sweet and those callbacks to the previous episodes was this one's biggest strength. I have to say Pinkie has really been in top form so far and I hope she keeps it up! Spike also had some great moments too. I absolutely love his bluntness and it's definitely one of the biggest strengths of his character. All in all, the new writers did a pretty good job. The song was decent and this a good start to our slice of life episodes for this season.

One thing I forgot to mention in my thoughts post is that there was no huge danger in in this season opener and that this time the villain was a smaller sense of danger being the leader of a strange tower trying to convince that all the ponies were equal. I feel that this was a fresh take on a Season opener vs "the big danger" we usually have. And you know what? I like it. It's something different and it shows that the writers still have a lot of great ideas for the series.

That was a good Season 5 opener! While I personally think it wasn't as good as The Return of Harmony or Princess Twilight Sparkle, this episode certainly did not disappoint! Pinkie's facial expressions really kicked it up a notch which was a hoot to see! I really like the villain, Starlight Glimmer, and even more glad that there wasn't a deus ex machina defeat of her towards the end and judging from the looks of things, I have a hunch she'll be back later on. One thing I will mention is how dark the tone got both with those forced smiles and the removal of the cutie marks. It also looks like we're going to have another arc with the whole "Cute marks show on the map where a problem in Equestria is". So far, a good start to Season 5!
