    I think that Princess Celestia is Twilight's DAUGHTER. why i say this is because at the end of season 3 when Twilight becomes an alicorn princess, Celestia said "She's always been a Princess". And yet Twilight came from an ordinary background who was interested in magic. So my idea/ opinion is this Celesstia and Luna go back in time from the future to the time Equestria is in dark times where villans are ruling the land and that future Twilight died and told Celestia and Luna...

      I think about everything before writing and if Starswirl were Celestia's teacher. It would be Starswirl defeting Discord and King Sombra like the Sirens from EQG 2.

       

      But Celestia knew about friendship and yet Starswirl knew nothing about it and plus he is the type of pony who would spend time teaching.
