    I think that Princess Celestia is Twilight's DAUGHTER. why i say this is because at the end of season 3 when Twilight becomes an alicorn princess, Celestia said "She's always been a Princess". And yet Twilight came from an ordinary background who was interested in magic. So my idea/ opinion is this Celesstia and Luna go back in time from the future to the time Equestria is in dark times where villans are ruling the land and that future Twilight died and told Celestia and Luna...

      What Celestia meant was that Twilight always had the potential and drive to become one. Like in Equestria, one's destiny is somewhat set in stone so whatever Twilight, or anypony, was meant for is what she will become. But the idea is interesting.
