  1. I came into this thread purely to post one thing to your topic
  2. Star wars is fine because it trips over its "The force is the most powerful force in the galaxy!" thing when force users are constantly tripping over non-force users fuxoring up their plans; Its kind of hard to take the sith and the jedi seriously at times. I mean,, whether or not luke had been on the deathstar Han would still have taken down that shield generator and lando would have blown it up, and it was the clones, not the jedi, who won the clone wars. This doesn't diminish their heroism, they still do great things, but it still makes Han's "Hokey religions" line seem to ring a bit true.
  3. Each of the mane six gets 1 "solo star" episode and 2 "co-star with another of the six" episode. Pinkie, twilight, rarity and Rainbow dash get a third "Co-star with another of the six" episode, so they get 4 total episodes with fluttershy and AJ getting three total. Starlight gets 2 "solo star" episodes and 4 "co-star with another" episodes for a total of 6.
  4. That the Chrysalis was the princess from the love poison story and she and the changelings were the original inhabitants of the crystal empire (and alicorn of love) prior to being corrupted.
  5. to be honest I've always disliked galvatron as a character anyways, its basically deleting a very good character (megatron) and replacing him with a being that looks KIND OF like him but is completely insane and lacks megatron's compelling aspects (Charisma to make his soldiers loyal to him, a compelling past and personal history with the hero)
  6. Still wondering why the heck they haven't released their budget information yet. In the magical world of mlp, "Stoned and shattered" is apparently not "Dead" tempest's entire impact on the audience was due to her VA's depiction of her, to just try and replace her would be disastrous, most likely.
  7. Doubtful since they'd have to negotiate emily blunt as a VA for more work.
  8. A bit of a hard choice. I want to say somnambula PURELY for her comic appearance; she was absolutely INCREDIBLE in her legend of magic comic, and pretty much what I think pinkie should "Be". She was funny, energetic, but at the same time she had a LOGIC behind her actions and was always doing her actions with a purpose, not unlike Swarm of the century. Unfortunately, in show she's not NEARLY as endearing, and that accent is just so horrifically forced and fake sounding that I can't take her seriously >.< Similiarly, I liked Starswirl in his legend of magic comic, but he's a raging douche with few redeeming qualities in show (though that's completely intentional for shadowplay's plot) Conversely, Mistmane is absolutely incredible in show and has the best arc and purpose in what we see, but I found her comic pretty meh and a weird fit for her.
  9. It'd be hard NOT to improve it tremendously, given its "Greed first, fun second" state
  10. ahuitzotl would require a new character model and animations (Idling, ect.) made, while they just grabbed an alicorn model, snipped the wings and bam, there you go for nightmare rarity. Even if its not exactly hard to make a new model for a game like this, gameloft is still going to go the path of least resistance.
  11. So, anyways, Nightmarity was made a purchaseable character in the gameloft game recently (FOR TWENTY FREAKING DOLLARS at that). To my knowledge, prior to this there have been no comics only characters sold in the gameloft game, they've all had to be in the show or movie first. Think this is just them grabbing a popular comic character, of possibility of nightmarity in the future?
  12. Rarity would be nice with more spells, but its too late for that. Rarity has no real ambition to learn spells, because her goal in life is to be a fashion designer, not a sorceress. The EOH aren't a role that the six take to heart as a super important "DEFENDERS OF THE REALM" kind of thing, its just a "Oh, time to do that again?" thing that they do, so its not like the six are going to train for being the element bearers, nor is it something that they seem to WANT to train for. Like, she's really fun when she has green lantern style powers like she did as Radiance or in equestria girls, but in universe its highly unlikely that she would ever try and work to do that currently. To be fair, rarity's weaponized Fashion spells before as radiance, utilizing a load of things like umbrellas, threads, ect. fashion related magic can be used in a crazy awesome manner like how she fought in fighting is magic, its just she kind of lacks either the raw magic to explain her having such abilities nor the ambition for her to suddenly start training up to have that level of power now.
  13. TV Y rating basically. The most we'll ever get is Twilight's kingdom, and even THAT is a massive outlier. You're not going to get any real choreographed conflicts unless they do a side series with a Y7. >please see S2's finale There's a good amount of adventure in this series, and faust wanted there to be conflict and a 50% adventure ratio, which kind of implies fights to beat the enemy (they didn't just talk discord into going away in return of harmony after all, even if it was just a tame rainbow laser). its completely disingenuous to say that Friendship doesn't mean there can't be fights against villains or antagonists. Why do you think there's a GOH toyline after all? because alot of fans enjoy that, like the adventure aspect of the show, and think that it can handle more episodes like Canterlot wedding (Which had a fairly lengthy fight scene), twilight's kingdom or Princess twilight sparkle (which also had a fight against the plants). Hell, power ponies, do princesses dream of magical sheep, gauntlet of fire... there's plenty of room for fights on the adventures.
  14. Discord's alot like the EOH in that he causes a hell of alot of plot problems, in that he's theoretically near omnipotent, in the same way the EOH should be able to instant win every conflict they get into. Honestly, in order to avoid discord causing plot issues they need to find a way to somehow power limit him so that he can't interact fully with the "outside world" of his dimension too much without running out of juice so that he can't beat every villain without banishing him back to his chaos dimension for a while or something.
  15. its weird, from what I've read from AMC employees in various threads, even though MLP has gotten yanked from everything but discount theaters and is generally shoved into the "small" theaters at those places, it still consistently fills up every night to full capacity. makes me kind of think the normie theaters pulled it too early to make extra room for Thor theaters. I hope it means the movie will exceed 50 million before the end of its run, maybe reach up to 55 or even 60.
  16. >person destroys a kingdom and willingly engages in its subjugation for a selfish reason >You reward them at the end by giving them exactly what they wanted I don't think that's a very good lesson to teach there.
  17. This movie was made for normies, hence virtually everything was reduced to its barest plotpoints, so brand new people wouldn't be confused. You introduce discord you have to explain who he is and how he used to be a villain, you introduce the EOH you have to explain them, ect. it was far easier just to not have him show up and quietly hope fans don't cry foul while the new audience embraces the world, and then expand things in the next movie.
  18. 8.5/10 for myself personally, but objectively I feel I must lower it to 7/10. I enjoyed it greatly as a fan, but for a brand new person going into it there'd be some slight plotholes or clunkiness (Compare how Unicron has no backstory or purpose in the original transformers movie, but going in with outside knowledge today, a fan wouldn't be bothered because of knowing unicorn's story already). Plus, there's still the issue of the journey to get the hippogryphs not ultimately serving a purpose since they only gain like 6 new allies to storm the castle with, and lose twilight in the process.
  19. Given how crappy the wonderbolts were portrayed (episodes like Wonderbolt academy and rarity investigates) I honestly would have loved for Dash to have decided the wonderbolts were great childhood heroes but not what she truly wanted to be after getting to know them. Like forming her own flight team or deciding to become a full time adventurer like daring do, or hell, something like those alternate timelines where she was a military commander in the NMM and sombra lines. Its a bit past time for that now of course, but I still had kind of wanted a different route from S3 onward.
  20. At the same time, the point of that episode seemed to be that their powers were uncontrollable when it does that, so I'm not sure its a good thing; its kind of like how they didn't seem really happy to find that they random turned Juniper into a giant after being put into the mirror. As an aside, on rewatching that episode I kind of feel gypped we didn't get to see anything from rarity during that "has anyone else's magic been going crazy?" scene, just fluttershy, rarity and AJ.
  21. So in faust's show bible faust not so subtly hinted at something else as dash's Destiny besides joining the wonderbolts, possibly as a secondary thing, possibly as a replacement instead as her destiny. What do you think she meant by "or perhaps fate has something more in store for her" in regards to her Wonderbolt dream?
  22. actually not bad, had alot more entertainment value than the last ones; Found timber and twilight's dorkiness pretty cute, and the mane six's overpowered magic pretty funny in overpowered. That said, pretty pissed at overpowered at how SHORT and lacking in substance it was; Come on, this is supposed to be a SERIES, give us something with actual import already, not just sight gags. Was expecting an actual, full length episode (or at least 10 minutes for crying out loud) exploring them testing out their abilities and how they're growing/learning to control them. There was some funny jokes like AJ crushing her locker, but come on, this was just phoned in.
  23. They'd probably keep Princess Twilight's design the same as before, since she's not the one they're trying to sell toys of and it'd help them differentiate the two twilight's from each other.
