  1. Eh. So-so. Not going to say it was terrible, but it wasn't good either. Now, don't get me wrong, there's a few really cute parts, like AJ with a fence, or some of the images in the club one, and the girl in the pinkie one, but it just didn't grab me. The fine line one, while having a nice theme, was just utterly boring (though I'd love to see a follow up where the six get zapped into the game or something and have to play as their MMO classes). I know its just 2 minute shorts, but that's the PROBLEM. There's not enough time for any real substance here, so it feels like flash without anything behind it. I just don't think the tiny shorts are a good medium, and I hope there's more legitimate episodes (that have actual plots and last for more than a blink) in the future. Do like AJ and RD's redesigns though.
  2. The 4chan leak is 25-30 million; To reach 2.5 times that it would need to hit 62-75 million. Its not going to hit 2.5 times the 4chan leak, its going to be lucky to hit 2x the 4chan leak.
  3. Tempest; BY FAR. Loved her voice, her song, and her armor. Everything about her was great.
  4. its weird, the information I've read from most AMC movie theater employees say that the Pony movies are ALWAYS packed almost full to capacity; even if they're usually in the smaller theaters, this seems kind of weird.
  5. 1 slice of bacon subtracts 9 minutes off your life; every cigarette takes 11 minutes off your life. What you need to do is get a ton of bacon and a lot of cigarettes and start eating them and smoking them REALLY fast; this massive loss of time in your life will cause you to travel backwards in time. You're welcome.
  6. LETS TAKE THEM TO THE REAL WORLD! They can help a bumbling, middle aged Cubicle worker learn self esteem and work up the courage to ask out the cute worker in the cubicle across from him out for a date, all the while learning valuable life lessons along the way!
  7. Yeah, I'm happy they're ditching lionsgate and going for another studio. paramount may have its issues, but its hard to do worse than Lion'sgate. They SERIOUSLY screw the pooch whenever it comes to advertising; they honestly are one of the most inept distributors you can get, and that's before getting into their feuds in china (See rockdog) I think you may be confusing the meaning of "Successful" there. while it is rated high, Kubo is ANYTHING but successful, financially speaking. It Failed HARD, only selling 74 million on a budget of 60 million. That's an "Ouch" there.
  8. Kind of wondering WHY its taking them so long to release the official budget for the movie; Most movies release such financial info loud and clear early on into a run. The fact that its taking so long for them to do so is making things feel kind of off.
  9. I'm expecting a redux of Twilight's kingdom: Chrysalis teams up with tirek like discord did, gets betrayed, gets redeemed by joining the heroes, cue tirek being beaten. Probably something where she figures she can keep him in line via some sort of magical lease or control spell and he ends up circumventing it somehow.
  10. The most reliable info I've seen puts it a 30 million budget, with some wiggle room from a 5 million break of some sorts they got on it from the canadian government. Why do you think TWENTY million is impossible? that's absurdly low for a budget, even 30 million is low and 20 is unbelievably low. I'm kind of wondering why they haven't released a budget yet actually; its kind of strange. Most all movies release their budget numbers pretty early into runs of the movie. Yeah. Was kind of hoping we'd get a really super good movie that pushes the envelope and reignited public interest in ponies like what the 2011 S1 of the show did by making people realize ponies didn't have to just be like the 80s Stigma. While I enjoyed the movie, it was still dissapointing in how they chose to play it safe and ended up hitting it kind of low due to that.
  11. Drastically more than S7. I was smiling ear to ear the entire time during the movie. its not as incredible as I was hoping, and only about an 8/10, but that was MUCH better than S7 IMO.
  12. At the same time, ninjago has been in theaters FAR longer than MLP, but is still staying up. MLP just isn't doing that well sadly. (And ninjago was a FLOP and still had more momentum than MLP)
  13. yes and no. The Run isn't fully finished yet, so its not out of the game yet; but at the same time, its going to need to break 50 million or so to be comfortably in the green. Its sitting at about 38 million, most of which is in foreign sales (which get taxed more heavily and so are "smaller" sales than domestic sales), and has lost the majority of its momentum. so its going to have a hard time reaching that number. ADDITIONALLY, it fell short of its original projected sales for its opening weekend, as it was 18 million in its original projections for the opening weekend and only sold about 12/13 million opening weekend-- so whether or not it manages to break into the green, it STILL has done worse than they were projecting/expecting. On the other hand, its budget was very low, which gives it more wiggle room; its only saving grace is sadly that its budget was incredibly low, meaning even IF it fails to make budget, its such a small budget that the money lost is minimal and can be easily made up for by toy and merch sales. I'm very dissapointed as I (and probably hasbro) was hoping for this to be a definitive success, selling about 80-100 million for a really strong showing, especially given how Equestria girls 1 had lots of bronies going to see it when it came out, to the point that they EXTENDED its theatrical run. This just kind of shows how much momentum the series has lost in the general public since 2013-2014. I really like the movie, but even if its a moderate success with its toy sales factored in, its a FAR shot from being a definitive success with a guaranteed sequel-- look at the Second TMNT movie for example, it sold tons of merch (being even more toyetic than MLP) and sold 245 million to a 135 million budget (meaning its roughly on par with MLP for budget to sales ratio at the moment), but the fact that it didn't blow it out of the water torpedoed its chances for a sequel. As a FINAL thing, we can't count the toy sales until they're sold, so we can't even definitively point to toy sales as a success for this movie until after the christmas season-- We won't know whether or not the movie actually increased sales, or if by that much, until the numbers are in, and there is NO guarantee this movie will increase them. Remember, Hasbro has been utterly devastated by Pony toy flops before in this series, specifically Equestria girls: friendship game toys. They went ALL OUT making tons of toys for it, with lots of tie ins and a bunch of unique molds and whatnot (nerf bows and arrows, bike toys, ect.) and it flopped hard in sales, with almost all of it sitting on shelves and going into clearance. The same thing could happen with this movie too. Remember that Toys R Us's US branch declared bankruptsy, and that's where the majority of Hasbro's MLP toys are moved through: meaning it just got kneecapped going into this christmas season by its main distributor having financial issues that will make it difficult for them to order and stock lots of the newer toys for the movie.
  14. "Reach the hippogryphs and sell toys!" I mean, get help. Get help. Maybe use that pearl. Honestly, it makes more sense in the original Plot where the hippogryphs as a RACE show up and act as an army to throw out the storm king's army, not just have them be beaten by 5 birds and a cat with a flamethrower as the most easily defeated invasion yet. That way they serve a purpose, even if the question of "why not the changelings/griffons/Dragons" still exists.
  15. To make an impact, you need marketing; you just need it, it can singlehandedly make a crap movie a success and a good movie a failure (look at the emoji movie sitting pretty at 200 million despite being universally panned and despised by BOTH audiences and critics. Marketing). What the HECK was lion'sgate doing here? were they doing ANYTHING? Like, I'd almost want to accuse them of embezzling their marketing money Producers style out of a prediction of "LOL little girls movie, who'll know?". They should have been jamming this thing into a crapton of previews, in front of every movie they could, slather every possible internet and TV venue they can think of with the message "This isn't the 80s MLP!", to fight back against the MLP stigma like how Trollz managed to do.
  16. I'm hoping they reuse the original storm king plot in another movie or in the show; what we got looks to be almost totally divorced from the original idea. from what the original artwork of "cosmos"/tempest and the Storm king's beastial design looks like, I'm guessing the original plot was Cosmos/tempest Trying to unleash the storm king as a beastial Elemental to control for her own ends, probably like how the sony script info that we had talked about cosmos trying to get control over 3 elemental stones (betting the original idea was Cosmos trying to gain control over those stones to unleash an eldritch abomination being for her to command, it goes out of her control, similiar ending)
  17. Sadly not enough time to do justice to everyone; They overloaded themselves on characters for pretty toyetic reasons-- you gotta have the seaponies for the toys and you gotta have the pirates for the GOH airship toy too. capper wasn't deep, but he did at least work as a serviceable comic relief when he was present-- I enjoyed him WAY more than that trailer would make me think I would.
  18. Sadly in two parters since S1/S2 they tend to Dilute the other 5 to be nothing more than pawns that follow twilight and act in lockstep with her in order to give the time and focus to another character (barring the S5 premier). So this doesn't surprise me that much. dissapoints me, but doesn't surprise me. (This is one reason I found the Movie to be vastly better than the two parters we got recently; even if AJ and Fluttershy got shafted, the other 3 at least felt very focused on and felt more like legitimate parts of the story)
  19. I'm still upset at the changelings being reformed, I'd be just as upset about Chrysalis being reformed. Hell no.
  20. A cross between starlight and Sunburst. Starlight for the whole "Evil ex villain", sunburst for the "no magic but really knowledgeable" thing.
  21. I'd rather see the Sirens constantly pulling pranks on Human starswirl out of anger at Pony starswirl, like setting bags of crap on fire outside his house constantly.
  22. Illogical, but hey, Magic, "I don't got to explain S***". the show staff's played fast and lose with things before (first alicorn equestria has seen, the journal of the two sisters and the S7 finale, ect.). I kind of hope they don't go through with it, if only because saying there's only one sunset and she was "meant" to go to the Human world slathers her with a bunch of "chosen one" BS that I hope they avoid doing in a group show.
  23. Isn't that what the show staff said at hascon anyways, that there was only one sunset shimmer?
  24. I'm more like an episode where sunset comes over and B***s starswirl out over going "LOL NOT MY PROBLEM!" to deal with them.
  25. Friday afternoon, 1pm showing. About 1/3 full, pretty much all 4 year old girls and their mothers, not really family outings.
