I enjoyed it too; smiled pretty much the whole time, 8.5/10 (despite a TON of nitpicks about the villains being threats and yet also being so easily defeatable at the climax). That being said, I'm more worried about the movie's financial success at the moment than my personal enjoyment, since (as I think it was good), I really want a sequel.

Audience reactions?

Good movie. would rank it 8.5/10 myself. Nothing groundbreaking for the series, but still a good romp. A bit dissapointing in that they played it safe and didn't expand on lore and things that fans have wanted touched on for a while (Alicorns, EOH, Tree of harmony, ect.), but still good. I will admit as a fan I might be biased, so 7.5/10 might be more accurate though.

spoiler "Once Upon A Zeppelin" Promo
Unlikeable Pony replied to ggg-2's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
That's actually a legitimate question though: Who DID set up the trip? her parents say in the promo they didn't ask questions. Someone over at ponychan made a joking theory that actually might be interesting and kind of makes sense: Maybe the pony of shadows was the one who invited twilight's family and there might be an attempt at taking out twilight at some point on the trip? Nah man. Remember season 4? Twilight gets super Protagonist priority dibs for her plotline episodes--- the FINALE ITSELF will be her legends episode, just like the Tirek episode was Twilight's key episode. Sadly, I do feel that starlight does steal alot of spike time; She's basically twilight's new assistant, so she kind of ends up muscling him out alot (Fame and misfortune for example would have worked perfectly with spike in her place) -

I wouldn't say its praised, everytime its brought up I hear pretty constant hate and negativity towards it for its plotholes and worfing of the rest of the cast for the explicit purpose of setting up a glimmer team as the only ones to save the day. its got its fans, and alot of people like the idea of having other people besides the six save the day, but it isn't a universally praised piece like episodes like perfect pear or saddle and row review tend to be.

Honestly I don't see why not, none of that looks any darker than Tirek or Chrysalis IMO. The armor for example could easily be used by a villain. The only thing that's suspect would be the body parts from other species thing, and as long as the villain's not constantly talking about them or calling attention to them, it could pass. (and they could easily leave that out and still use the armor designs)

So, anyways, looking at this panel from the Recent IDW comic on the legends of magic... Do you think they're going to introduce new elements/virtues that the six represent? We got 6 Virtues here that represent the six as well as the legends of magic after all (Sorcery for Twilight, Courage for dash, strength for AJ, beauty for Rarity, healing for fluttershy and hope for pinkie)

How could Pinkie Pie get Alicorned?
Unlikeable Pony replied to Lucartini's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
by writer fiat basically More or less, that's all there is to it; There doesn't appear to be any hard, in stone rules for becoming an alicorn right now, as Cadence's alicornhood seemingly happened just by having alot of magical energy in one spot; She showed love to a villain with what seemed to be a fairly bog standard magical necklace (the necklace was made by a pony and not an artifact, and its gemstone wasn't seemingly that important, given how cadence gave twilight a necklace of the same stone without a whole lot of gravity to it, and Rarity recognized the type of stone easily), and the Necklace reacted to her and Ubered her up (Or at least, teleported her to the same dimension that twilight went to where she met Celestia), While I'd like that book to be non-cannon and another explanation given, it just seems like if the writers want to say that a magical object turns you into an alicorn, it will. I don't think you have to worry about that at all in the future -
I don't know, there's generally a couple defining traits that can cause people to classify certain mythological creatures as "demons" across different religions; If its an evil spirit associated with the afterlife or netherworld, most people will accept the classification of "demon" fairly well as an acceptable term. So if there's any beings in Equestria that are malevolent and reside in the afterlife, I think "demon" would be a term that ponies might use to describe them, Earth-equestria similarities holding true.

spoiler Synopsis for the finale.
Unlikeable Pony replied to CastletonSnob's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I'm kind of betting on a "Mutual kill" kind of imprisonment here; I figure the six ponies of legend being imprisoned ALSO imprisoned the pony of shadows, or at least sealed him away heavily (so he couldn't really do much physically in normal reality). After all, the pony of shadows hasn't exactly been wrecking stuff up in the interim thousand years since the other legends dissapeared, yeah? Kind of figure that Twilight might have a bit of a "nice job breaking it hero" moment in that her saving the other six are why the pony of shadows is able to manifest once again to threaten equestria. Of course, this begs the question: What will happen to the LEGENDS after this? are they still going to be around? New secondary characters? Or maybe they pull a heroic sacrifice to stop the pony of shadows and fade away as well? (Or maybe starswirl uses his time travel magic to head back 1000 years again with them afterwards) -

On the note of an "adult" MLP; It'd be interesting if they tried to test the waters with an MLP pony show that was a higher rating than it is now for having a little more umph and risk in the Adventure/villain episodes. Like if they made a GOH one that was digimon/samurai jack/ect. level kind of age level, kind of a more action focused series with a little more darkness and higher stakes. (Yes I know EQG is TV-Y7 as a higher rated spin off, but I think that's more because they're human girls than anything else)
