  1. I think the friend system here must make it more noticeable when somebody leaves on here, because I used to be a very active member of an automotive blog, and I never noticed people leaving.
  2. Oopsies! Probably should have searched to see if one already existed first . They'll probably either delete this one or merge 'me or something. How long ago was yours?
  3. OK, I keep seeing people who are leaving or have already left the forums, and most of them don't tend to explain why. With that, I'll cut to the chase: is there something that offends people about the forums, or do that many people really lose interest in ponies after a couple of years. Is the fandom's turnover really that bad?
  4. Yes, I do read fanfiction! However, I pretty much read comedy exclusively. I'm not a shipper, so I hardly ever read romantic stuff, I tend to feel like that and the dark stuff is where a lot of the awkward writing is. It can be good if done right, but IMO it's just harder to write serious subjects than it is to write comedy.
  5. I tend to think the whole "Pegasus that can't fly" is a pretty common disorder in Equestria, so I personally don't see it as grounds to say that Scootaloo is Fluttershy's daughter, but they may be related, in a Pinkie Apple Pie sort of way. I agree with Blobulle, I mean, how long did it take us to find out who Sweetie Belle's parents were? I think, since parents don't tend to be important characters in the show, the writers haven't bothered with showing them to us yet.
  6. That situation must be remedied, immediately. Star Wars is fun because, like MLP, there are tons of background character that don't even have speaking roles who have been given fandom personalities. It's just plain awesome. Also, the original trilogy is the best of the two.
  7. Thanks for the ad, dude! Unless I already knew you before and you just changed your username and avatar, in which case, oops.

  8. I heard this song a year ago in Home Depot, back before I had embraced any music made post-1985, and was immediately taken back to memories of playing Sonic's Adventures on Sega Genesis, riding with my uncle in his 1990 Camaro RS, and watching reruns of Darkwing Duck and Rugrats. This was odd, as no one in my family was ever a Sugar Ray fan, so I'm not sure where I heard it at back in the day. https://youtube.com/watch?v=zUtnwcv-quE Most stores around me play things that make smooth jazz look like heavy metal. For example, the Hobby Lobby I work in plays instrumental versions of religious music. I swear, if I hear "How Great Thou Art" played on a poorly computer-generated flute one more time, I might just be tempted to deck somebody. Also, for you guys that were posting the vintage soul music in this thread, ever heard this one? It's one of my favorites, but it doesn't get much airplay anywhere anymore. https://youtube.com/watch?v=w1Lf_1y7rYE
  9. This makes me curious if Straight Outta Compton (the movie) will boost sales of his album just due to the title. Either way, I'll have to check Dre's new stuff out, he was pretty good back in the day.
  10. Kudos to you for the very astheticly pleasing banner!

  11. Just got back from a night on the town- one of the stops was Taco Bueno, for today is a day of tacos.

  12. Why hello Quiet Time, welcome to the forums! I'm most certain that you'll find the sort of camaraderie you're looking for here. Feel free to PM or friend me anytime, I'm always up for a good chat or a new friend. And again, Welcome!
  13. Well, I can say this much, I've met 3 pegasisters and a brony at my workplace since I started two months ago, and pony merchandise at our local Hot Topic has become so popular that they're expanding the pony section. This is in the extremely conservative and somewhat anti-brony environment of the Midwest. Thanks for disspelling the "fandom is dying" argument, I'm getting very tired of hearing it. I think most of the folks who say the fandom is dying are noticing that some of the famous artists and musicians are becoming inactive and then aren't seeking out new content to fill the void. For example, one of my favorite ask pony tumblrs, Rainbow Dash's Mailbag, shut down this last month. I could have just gotten mad and said "Oh look, the fandom is dead, I'm leaving!", but instead I took the initiative to look for a new tumblr to follow and found Horse Wife, which is just as good as Mailbag was, if not more so. It's all about perspective, unfortunately most people would rather rage on the internet and be generally depressing than they would take the initiative to see the good things that are happening.
  14. Well, not to be a wet blanket, but that takes some of the fun out of it. Didn't the other EQGs show in theaters?
  15. I don't know if I'd enjoy it, but I might be persuaded to give it a try. Also, if I do decide to go see it (and that's a big IF), do you guys know the best way to pick a theater that other bronies may be going to? I'd don't want to be the only 20-something male in a room full of 9 year old girls
  16. YES! Lionsgate is pretty high quality, glad they picked a company I'm familiar with. I can already feel that this is going to be epic. I just hope it isn't the show's finale.
  17. I'd imagine that they celebrate in some capacity, although it may not be as formal, like others in this thread have theorized. On another note, we do see Rumble and another colt at Zipporwhill's party, so apparently colts can at least attend Cute-ceneras.
  18. Here in KC this time of year we fluctuate between 85-110 degrees! which is just how I like it. Unfortunately, we get bitterly cold and snowy winters, which are the worst thing since ever as far as weather goes. Those winters are about the only thing that makes me want to move away after college.
  19. I have a younger cousin who still watches cartoons, so I've seen a few of these. Johnny Test was awful, and most of the current Cartoon Network offerings are just too crude for my tastes. I don't even have a clue what Nickleodeon has for cartoons nowadays besides Spongebob, which, regardless of the hate it gets, is still a pretty good show IMHO, especially compared to what's out there (the entire MTV franchise is going downhill really fast, and has steadily been dying since Y2K, at least as far as I'm concerned). The shows that really disturb me, though, are the live-action ones. Someone else mentioned Jessie, and I feel like it's a prime example. As far as I can see, it only teaches kids to be argumentative, snotty little brats. Imagine everyone in the world was Diamond Tiara- that's the way this show portrays things. And most of the others are either very similar to that premise or are unbelievably boring, a la Big Time Rush. I'm embarrassed to have to admit that I even typed the titles to some of this trash. But, overall, I think if you search long and hard enough, there's still good stuff out there. I'm sure my judgement on the subject is majorly biased by the fact that I grew up in the late 90s, and wish that my little cousin were watching CatDog and Dexter's Lab like I did, rather than modern shows that I have no nostalgia for. Because, in reality, those shows were probably just as poor quality, I just didn't notice because I was 7.
  20. Wish I could, folks won't let me. But I've already told my Aunt that, come heck or high water, I'm wearing a blatant pony shirt to the theater for the movie in two years
